First picture of biker killed in horror crash with transit van in Argyll
Julien Marchand was one of two biker's that lost their lives in the space of a 24 hours on Scotland's roads at the weekend.
A biker who died in a horror crash with a transit van in Argyll has been named as 48-year-old Julien Marchand.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the A819 near Tullich around 4.05pm on Friday, May 23, following a collision involving a Triumph Tiger motorcycle and a Ford Transit Luton van.
Tragically, Julien, the rider of the motorbike, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van was not injured.
Julien's devastated family have asked for privacy as they come to terms with their loss.
The road was closed for around 10 hours to allow for a full crash i nvestigation to be carried out.
Sergeant Kenneth Malaney of Police Scotland said: 'Our thoughts remain with Julien's family and friends as they come to terms with their loss.'
'Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash are ongoing and we are asking anyone who may have information to contact police.
"If you can assist our enquiries in any way, please contact police on 101, quoting incident 2380 of 23 May 2025.'
It is the second tragedy on Scotland's roads in less than 24 hours at the weekend.
Another biker called Kris Leitch died in a crash in Ayrshire the next day.
The 34-year-old was the rider of a blue and white Sherco 290 motorcycle. He crashed on Main Street, Auchinleck, at around 2.25am on Saturday, May 24.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for around six hours to allow for investigations to take place.
Kris' family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time.
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: 'Our thoughts remain with Kris's family and friends as they come to terms with their terrible loss.
'Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash are ongoing and we are asking anyone who saw the motorbike prior to the crash, or has any dashcam footage, to please contact police. We are also keen to speak with anyone who attended the scene to assist but did not remain to provide their details to officers.
'If you can assist our enquiries in any way, please call police on 101, quoting incident 0082 of 24 May, 2025."
