Will politicians listen to Agong's good advice?
YOURSAY | 'PKR, known for infighting, also spreading 'virus' (of division).'
Agong warns against too many parties, factions
Mario T: This is good advice from our Agong, but will the politicians put service to the rakyat above money or power? I am afraid not.
The avaricious craving for money by whatever means will continue to plague the nation like an incurable disease.
Once you have let loose a bull, it is going to be almost impossible to catch it and place it under reins.
Corruption in every stratum of society has reached a point of no return.
What is presently being investigated by the MACC or police and prosecuted is just a small visible tip of an iceberg.
Traveloka Winning: This is a timely reminder for PKR because PKR is always the source of infighting.
Not only is it known for infighting, but it also spreads the 'virus' (of division) to virtually everyone.
This 'virus' has resulted in our winning PAS splitting, leading to the formation of Amanah, then Umno splitting further into Bersatu, and Bersatu splitting into Muda and Pejuang.
Worse still, PKR continues to generate infighting among the various factions in the party.
I am not even talking about factions within the party that everyone knows about. I'm talking about how Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also PKR president, poached Senator Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz to join PKR.
This is humiliating for Deputy Prime Minister and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, creating tension in the (dis)unity government.
To rehabilitate the political landscape, PKR and specifically Anwar's dynasty (his wife, former deputy prime minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and daughter Nurul Izzah) must be forever barred from participating in elections.
Only then can our country hope to have unity.
Mazhilamani: The most divided community appears to be just one. The way it keeps creating new parties, it is only a matter of time before each state will have its own party or parties broken down to Jati Malays, Javanese, Acehnese, Sundanese, Banjarese, Minangkabau, Bugis, among others.
Eventually, the majority Malay group will attempt to lead the country with the minority brought under their mercy.
Malayans of different races started as equals, but after 68 years, see how divided we have become and with some communities treated as minorities.
It is now the responsibility of the Registrar of Societies to ensure that the registration and approval of race-based parties are immediately rejected, including applications from the Chinese and Indian communities.
Please take the advice of the Agong, his concern may become a reality.
IndigoTrout2522: In a democracy, people are free to vote for any candidates or political parties. If politicians or parties lose the trust and confidence of the voters and therefore their votes, they won't survive politically.
Evidence has shown that once powerful or popular politicians, as well as political parties, have become irrelevant when voters lose confidence in them, regardless of whether they are old or new parties. The voters will decide, come the 16th general election.
WhitePony9855: Daulat Tuanku, thank you for the timely reminder, but knowing our politicians, they won't listen.
The 3Rs (race, religion and royalty) are the main divisive subjects played up by most politicians.
Some of them seemed to be insulated against our laws. They play up the 3R, yet the authorities won't act against them.

222 Johor projects worth RM10b yet to start, says MB
JOHOR BARU: Johor has 222 projects scheduled between 2016 and 2024 that have yet to commence. The projects, worth around RM10 billion, include various public facilities such as roads, mosques, hospitals and clinics, said Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi. "When I ask in meetings, they say, 'Don't worry, we'll check with the respective ministries, we'll get it approved.' "All these projects are for the people, but they still haven't started," he said in his speech at the 2025 Umno Tebrau division delegates' meeting here on Saturday. Onn Hafiz, who is also the Johor Umno liaison chairman, said Umno leaders in the state risk incurring public anger if the projects are not implemented. "Council members, village heads, community leaders – don't just attend meetings to look good. "If the projects don't go through, if the allocations are not used properly and appropriately, let me ask – who will the people be angry with? "At the agency? Or at the Umno leaders? They will be angry with us. That's why we need to go down to the ground and inspect things ourselves," he said. The Machap assemblyman said the federal government should place its trust in the state leadership to approve and implement projects in Johor. He suggested that the federal government initiate a pilot programme with Johor to evaluate the proposal's effectiveness. "If you don't want to implement it nationwide, make Johor the pilot state. "Insya-Allah, the Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders in Johor can be trusted and will shoulder these responsibilities for religion, race and homeland," he said. Onn Hafiz expressed disappointment at the lack of implementation. "I don't like making people angry. "But when it comes to the welfare of the people, don't test me. I will fight all the way for the people – for the people of Johor. That is the spirit of Johor Umno. "What we say is not just rhetoric. If we say it, Insya-Allah, we will deliver it," he said. Also present at the event were Johor Umno liaison deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Johor Umno secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman, who is also Tebrau Umno division chief.

UMNO division wants unconditional reinstatement of Hishamuddin
THE Sembrong UMNO Division has once again proposed the immediate and unconditional lifting of Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein's suspension, saying it is the wish of the majority of delegates. Division chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Abdul Rashid said this marks the second year the division has raised this motion, adding that they want the former senior defence minister's return to active party roles ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16). 'Last year, Sembrong UMNO made the same proposal to revoke Hishammuddin's six-year membership suspension. The members' wishes are clear—they want the suspension lifted without conditions,' Abdul Ghani said after the Sembrong UMNO Division Delegates' Meeting today. Meanwhile, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani urged the party to form strong, cohesive teams in every division to prepare for the GE16, expected in about two years. Speaking at the UMNO Ketereh Division Delegates' Meeting in Kota Bharu, he emphasised training these teams now to avoid issues like sabotage and to identify capable leaders who align with public expectations. 'These teams need to be trained now so we can identify who is capable. We want to build the nation with leaders who meet the people's expectations,' he said. Johari highlighted that 40% of GE16 voters will be young, with diverse priorities, particularly among university students and graduates. He also stressed the importance of power-sharing to ensure political stability and national progress. 'They fall into three phases: 18-year-olds, university students, and recent graduates. Those aged 18 may vote based on their parents' influence, but the other two groups think differently and will consider leaders who can benefit future generations,' he added. — June 21, 2025 Main photo credit: PR Newswire
