Pulp have topped the UK album chart for the first time in 27 years
INDIE ROCKERS PULP have achieved their first UK number one album in 27 years.
More, which was released last Friday, is the Britpop band's first studio album since 2001′s We Love Life.
It has also been named the biggest record of the week on wax, topping the Official Vinyl Albums Chart. More is sitting at number six in the Irish album chart.
The last time the Sheffield-based band topped the UK album charts was in 1998 with This Is Hardcore which followed on from their best-known studio album, Different Class, released three years prior and their only other chart-topping LP.

Pulp reunited for a second time in 2022 after frontman Jarvis Cocker confirmed they would begin touring together again.
They are playing a number of gigs throughout the summer, including sets at Montreux Jazz Festival in July and Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival in August.
The veteran rockers played in Dublin's 3Arena last week.
They have a gap in their schedule between 21 June and 10 July, which has fuelled speculation that they could be among the secret acts currently listed as 'TBA' in the line-up for Glastonbury Festival, which is taking place later this month.

Even though Ocean Colour Scene knocked Oasis's Be Here Now off the top of the UK album chart in 1997 with their third album Marchin' Already, Cradock acknowledges his band didn't have the same cultural impact as the Gallagher brothers. Advertisement READ MORE ON BRITPOP "Oasis changed the whole country," says Cradock. "The Beatles did that. I think maybe The Jam did that. Maybe the two-tone label did that. Maybe Arctic Monkeys had done that. We're just a group from Birmingham who were around at that time. "Oasis changed the way people dressed and they had such incredible characters, you know, Noel and Liam. Liam was just a one-off and they broke the f**king mold, I think. And, you know, good on them." Meanwhile Doherty, who now lives a quiet life in a small French seaside town with his wife Katia de Vidas and their daughter Billie Mae, two, recently joined Ocean Colour Scene on stage to sing backing vocals. "He's always lovely, Pete Doherty," says Cradock. "I like him a lot and he seems to be a fan of the group and always has been apparently. "It's the people who are no good who end up being c**ts to me because they have to be, don't they? They've got to have it. I don't know, I don't want to get into psychology or anything but most people I meet are really lovely people, really nice ." Noel Gallagher looks stony-faced as he makes lonely Tube journey to Oasis rehearsals – but Liam's entrance is chaotic Though he was immersed in the raucous Britpop scene that preceded Doherty's rise to indie stardom in the early noughties, Cradock managed to come through the wild parties relatively unscathed. He admits he was never on "Pete's level" but says "the 90s were very hedonistic so we've all had our moments. But that sort of bullsh*t, when you see people who pass through all that rock and roll death, it's all just bullsh*t man." Advertisement When asked if the pair have big egos, Cradock delivered an emphatic no, saying: "No I don't think there is. Most people are really lovely." Classic rock fans can also breathe a sigh of relief that The Whole Lotta Love singer features on Weller's upcoming album and Cradock says he turned up ready and willing to work like a regular session musician. Then we asked if he would sing and he sang and it was just like, 'wow'." "He was a gentleman and he's a great singer and he's really tuned in to what's happening in that moment you know, a true professional, a G. He's a f***ing G." Sabrina Carpenter breaks album chart records with longest streak in top five
The Espresso singer, 26, beat the record with Short N' Sweet holding on to the top five album chart for 43 consecutive weeks. She surpasses Ed Sheeran who previously held the title with 42 weeks for his 2021 album =. This comes after the US pop star announced she will be releasing a new album called Man's Best Friend later in the summer. Meanwhile, Oasis have rejoined the top five with their hits collection Time Flies … 1994-2009 reaching number two on the UK albums chart as fans prepare for their highly anticipated Oasis Live '25 tour. The Britpop band, who split in 2009, confirmed their long-awaited reunion in August 2024 and will open the tour in July in Cardiff, followed by performances in Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. The group will continue on with concerts scheduled around the world including Canada, the US, Mexico, Australia and Japan. Claiming the leader board for the first time is musician James Marriott with his album, Don't Tell The Dog. Speaking to Official Charts, Marriott said: 'Thank you so, so much for my first-ever Official Number 1 album. 'It's been such an amazing week travelling up and down the country, doing a little show. Jumping up the singles chart is DJ and producer MK, also known as Marc Kinchen, with Chrystal for their song Dior which moved from number 17 to number five. Liam and Noel Gallagher pictured together for first time since tour announced
The Britpop band, who split in 2009 prompted by a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival, confirmed their long-awaited reunion in August 2024. They have since been photographed together to launch a new partnership with Adidas ahead of their Oasis Live '25 world tour. The Manchester-born musicians rose to fame after the release of their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994, with their hits songs including Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall and Supersonic. While in the group, they became known for their recognisable sportswear style which consisted of tracksuits, sleeve jerseys, bucket hats and coach jackets. The pair are now the faces behind the Original Forever film campaign, which is soundtracked by their hit song Live Forever, and includes an accompanying Adidas Originals x Oasis Live '25 apparel collection. Chris Walsh, Adidas brand vice president, said: "Adidas and Oasis share a story defined by originality and cultural impact, with roots that run deep and have long been entwined in the fabric of music and style. "This official partnership represents more than just two icons coming together - it reignites a timeless piece of cultural music history. "Original Forever continues to build on Adidas' lasting legacy in music and celebrates the powerful role music and style play in shaping culture across generations." The brothers had been known to get into arguments over the years, but things reached breaking point at a French festival when Liam began swinging around a guitar. Noel quit the rock group on August 28 2009, saying he "simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer". The highly anticipated reunion tour announcement was followed with some ticketing backlash after fans in the UK and Ireland saw some prices more than double, from £148 to £355, which was blamed on "unprecedented demand". The outrage and controversy prompted the Government and the UK's competition watchdog to pledge they would look at the use of dynamic pricing. Oasis are due to kickstart their world tour in July with performances in Cardiff followed by Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. The group will continue on with concerts scheduled around the world including Canada, the US, Mexico, Australia and Japan.
