‘Everything has been destroyed': Rajasthan man serves tea wearing handcuffs in protest against dowry case
In an unbelievable incident, a Rajasthan man adopted a unique way to protest against a dowry case by opening a tea stall in front of his in-laws' locality in Anta town and serving tea wearing handcuffs, reported India Today.
Tea stall owner Krishna Kumar Dhakad's shop name is also unique '498A T Caf', referencing to Section 498A under which his wife had filed a dowry harassment case against him. Posters around Dhakad's tea shop carry slogans like 'Jab tak nahi milta nyay, tab tak ubalti rahegi chai' (Until I get justice, the tea will keep boiling) and 'Aao chai par karein charcha, 125 mein kitna dena padega kharcha'.
Dhakad married Meenakshi Malav in 2018. Together, they operated a beekeeping business.
In 2022, Malav allegedly left home without warning and returned to her parents' house.
After few months, Malav filed cases against Dhakad under IPC Section 498A (dowry harassment) and Section 125 (maintenance).
'Everything has been destroyed because of a false case. For the last three years, I've been wandering from court to court in Anta for justice. I have an old mother who depends on me. I live under a tin shed and have nothing left. Many times I thought of ending my life, but then I remembered I am my mother's only support,' Dhakad told India Today 's sister channel Aaj Tak.
He also said: 'I have decided that I will fight this legal battle impartially by selling tea in the very area where I was trapped by misuse of the law.'
'Every time I go to court, all I get is tareekh pe tareekh (adjournment after adjournment). Justice seems nowhere in sight. Now I am tired and have decided to fight this legal war by running a tea stall in Anta,' Dhakad added.
According to the media report, Malav alleged, 'He asked for money from my father to buy land. When we refused, he beat me up. I then returned to my father's house. I'm ready for a divorce, but first, all the loans taken in my name must be repaid.'

Kota: A POCSO court in Jhalawar Saturday sentenced a man and a woman to 20 years in jail for sexually exploiting a minor girl in Jhalawar's Kamkheda police station area four years ago in March 2021. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each accused. The accused have been identified as Hanif (49) and his partner Sonu alias Sugna (38), residents of Manhorethana police station area, public prosecutor Deepesh Bhargav told TOI. The minor survivor's father had filed a report with Jhalawar SP on March 17, 2021, alleging that Hanif and Sugna abducted his minor daughter on March 12 and Hanif sexually exploited her while Sugna assisted him. On the directions of the then SP, the police registered a case against Hanif and Sugna under sections of the IPC and POCSO Act in Kamkheda police station and began an investigation. However, the police gave the two accused a clean chit and submitted a Final Report (FR) to the court on Nov 23, 2022. The survivor, on the same day, filed a protest petition against the FR, following which the court ordered the resumption of the trial and statements of witnesses, Bhargav said. POCSO Court-2 found the two guilty and passed the sentence. The convicts have been in jail since their arrest following the trial's resumption in Nov 2022.

CBI files FIR against ex-officers of JNPT, Tata firm over ₹800 cr irregularities in dredging project; conducts searches
The CBI has registered a case against former officials of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE), as well as as two dredging companies, alleging irregularities worth more than ₹ 800 crore. As per officials, the alleged irregularities are linked to the Capital Dredging Project to deepen ship navigational channels near Mumbai. The federal investigative agency's action comes after three years of a preliminary inquiry that took a look into accusations of inflated estimates, halting of competition to benefit international bidders, extending undue favours to contactors, and suppression of reports of independent expert organisations. The CBI in its FIR has booked named then chief engineer of JNPT Sunil Kumar Madabhavi, then project director of TCE, Devdutt Bose, Boskalis Smit India LLP, Jan De Nul Dredging India Pvt Ltd and other unidentified public servants. The case has been lodged under IPC Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Following the registration of its FIR, the CBI searched five locations in Mumbai and Chennai, including the homes of Madabhavi and Bose, and offices of private companies. The searches led to the recovery of a number of documents relating to the Capital Dredging Project, digital devices and documents showing investments made by public servants, a CBI spokesperson said. The documents recovered are being examined, she said in a statement. No immediate reaction was available from the accused companies. 'The allegations of pecuniary advantage obtained by the private companies as a result of abuse of official position by the JNPT officials resulting into a huge wrongful loss to the exchequer, spread over the period from 2003 to 2014 (phase-I of the project) and 2013 to 2019 (phase-II of the project) was also inquired,' the CBI said in the FIR. The inquiry showed a criminal conspiracy between JNPT officials and other private persons, including an official of Tata Consulting Engineers, and others, which resulted in wrongful loss amounting to ₹ 365.90 crore for phase-I and ₹ 438 crore for phase-II to JNPT due to over-dredging. The case pertains to a project envisaged by the JNPT to deepen and widen the navigational channel it shared with the Mumbai Port in 2003 to cater to the needs of larger size cargo ships. TCE was roped in for preparation of a final report on the planning for dredging activities for the Capital Dredging Phase-I project, which was submitted in 2010 in association with Dredging Solution. TCE was also awarded the work of project management consultant for the project, including preparation of the tender documents and work of supervising the execution of the project, the FIR alleged. The CBI during its preliminary inquiry found that JNPT officials along with TCE executives kept tender conditions to favour foreign bidders, and violated the guidelines of Competition Commission of India by allowing complimentary bidding, and allowed the formation of the joint venture by solely eligible bidders Boskalis Smit India LLP with Jan De Nul Dredging India Pvt Ltd (also known as BSI-JDN JV).

Man gets 20 years in jail for abduction, rape of 15-yr-old
Agra: A Pocso court in Agra on Saturday sentenced a 23-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl. Dismissing the defence counsel's plea for leniency, special Pocso judge Shiv Kumar-II said that "justice demands a punishment fitting to the crime. " Special public prosecutor (crime) Madhav Sharma said the girl, then a Class 8 student, was abducted on July 27, 2022, while returning home from school with her cousin. The accused then raped her and took her from Agra to Mumbai by train. She was rescued three days later from Mumbai's Borivali after she alerted a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) on the train. The accused was subsequently arrested. In Agra, police registered an FIR the day of the kidnapping based on a complaint from the girl's father. The accused, a resident of her locality, was initially charged under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping a minor girl). Sections 376 (rape), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and relevant Pocso provisions were added later following the girl's statement. Police filed the chargesheet in Oct 2022. The court examined the testimony of the survivor and her cousin before delivering the verdict. The defence argued that the accused was a first-time offender and had been in custody since the incident, requesting minimum punishment. The judge, however, rejected the plea and awarded 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. A fine of Rs 42,000 was also imposed, with an additional one-year sentence in case of non-payment. The court directed that half the fine be paid to the survivor.
