Family of British teen killed in crash involving US driver receive police apology after review
LONDON — A British police force apologized Wednesday to the family of teenage motorcyclist Harry Dunn who was killed by an American government employee driving on the wrong side of the road near a U.S. airbase.
In a statement following the publication of a review into the incident , Northamptonshire Police apologized to Dunn's family for 'a failure on our part to do the very best for the victim in this case.'

A body has been pulled from the River Tees after a 20-year-old man got into difficulty in the water on Friday afternoon, police said. It is thought the man entered the water in Gainford, County Durham when he got into difficulty, sparking a huge emergency response. The air ambulance, mountain rescue crews, police helicopter, paramedics and fire crews all rushed to the rural village at about 2.30pm on Friday (June 20) as a major search operation got underway. Police cordoned off an area where ambulance incident response teams and the fire service water unit parked up, blocking access to the river banks. Drones were seen in the air as part of the search with rescue workers using dogs in the area.

Motorcyclist dies after crashing into SUV in Naperville, Illinois, police say
A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a sports utility vehicle Thursday night in Naperville, Illinois. Naperville police said officers and fire crews responded to the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Naper Boulevard just after 9:30 p.m. for a crash with injuries. Officers found a blue 2024 Suzuki motorcycle involved in a crash with a grey 2024 VinFast SUV. Despite lifesaving measures, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as 26-year-old Dante Fields of Woodridge. Preliminary reports indicated the Suzuki was heading eastbound on Chicago Avenue at a high rate of speed when it entered the intersection at Naper Boulevard on a solid green light. The SUV was turning left from westbound Maple Avenue to southbound Naper Boulevard, at which time the Suzuki struck the passenger side of the SUV. Police said no charges were filed. Investigation into the crash remains ongoing by the Naperville Police Department. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department's Traffic Unit at 630-420-8833.

Palestine Action to be banned after RAF base break in
The home secretary will move to proscribe Palestine Action group in the coming weeks, effectively branding them as a terrorist organisation, the BBC understands. Yvette Cooper is preparing a written statement before Parliament on Monday - which if passed will make becoming a member of the group illegal. The decision comes as a security review begins at military bases across the UK, after pro-Palestinian activists broke into RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and sprayed two military planes with red paint. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer condemned the action as "disgraceful," describing it as an "act of vandalism". South East counter terrorism police confirmed its specialist officers were investigating the incident alongside Thames Valley Police and the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Counter-terrorism police added the incident happened in the early hours of Friday and that enquiries were "ongoing to establish the exact circumstances". Footage posted online by Palestine Action on Friday showed two people inside the Oxfordshire airbase in darkness, with one riding on a scooter up to an Airbus Voyager and spraying paint into its jet engine. After sharing the footage, a Palestine Action spokesperson said: "Despite publicly condemning the Israeli government, Britain continues to send military cargo, fly spy planes over Gaza and refuel US and Israeli fighter jets." The group claimed its activists had evaded security and had put the air-to-air refuelling tankers "out of service". However RAF engineers have been assessing the damage, with a defence source earlier telling the BBC that they did not expect the incident would affect operations. Thames Valley Police earlier said it had received a report about people gaining access to the base and causing criminal damage. "Inquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest those responsible," the force said. It is understood this incident was not the first time the group has targeted military sites. RAF Brize Norton serves as the hub for UK strategic air transport and refuelling, including flights to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. The air force has conducted reconnaissance flights over Gaza out of the Cyprus base.
