Teenage girl sexually assaulted in church grounds in Steyning
A teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in the grounds of a church in Steyning on Thursday morning, police have said.Officers from Sussex Police were called to St Andrew and St Cuthman's Church, in Vicarage Lane at about 09:00 GMT.The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, around 5'7", with dark brown short hair, stubble, and brown eyes. He was said to be wearing a long navy coat, grey joggers and white Nike Air Force 1 trainers with a blue tick. He was also seen leaving the area in a black car.Police said they are investigating, the victim is being supported by specialist officers and there will be increased patrols in the area over the coming days.
Anyone with information that could help the investigation – including any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage - is asked to report to police online or via 101, quoting Operation Corfe.

Fabio Botros: Brighton teen gets date for trial over dad's murder
A trial date has been set for a teenager accused of murdering his father in Botros, 19, was charged in April with the murder of 57-year-old Emad Samir Botros Farag and the attempted murder of a woman and an 11-year-old Crown Court set Botros' 10-day trial for 1 October at a hearing on of Brighton, has not yet entered pleas and will next appear in court on 30 July. The teenager appeared at the hearing via video-link from Hellingly Hospital in East Sussex and spoke to confirm his name. Jurors at Lewes Crown Court previously heard how a 25-year-old female victim had managed to read his number plate after being attacked. The woman reported waking up in a car, which she thought was a taxi, to find a man sexually assaulting her. She had gotten into the car earlier that night, to travel from Brighton to Hove. The victim escaped at around 3am and called 999 to report being assaulted by a man in latex gloves and a Covid mask. The court was told Head was a "sexual predator" who "slipped up" the night he was arrested. When asked why he had the condoms and viagra, Head said: "I'm a normal red blooded male". Police also found business cards advertising him as a "N-Uber driver" that had the slogan "Safe and Reliable - For All Occasions". Head was also found guilty of assaulting a 19-year-old woman he picked up near Hove Park. She was pulled into bushes where the predator attempted to rape her, after the victim initially took a lift from him. The two attacks took place in the early hours of August 19 and November 18, 2022. Detective Constable Elliott Lander from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: 'Graham Head has twice tried to evade justice for his despicable crimes, and now twice been convicted by separate juries. 'His refusal to accept responsibility for his offending has forced his victims to relive the traumatic attacks carried out by him. The impact on them and their families cannot be overstated, and I commend all involved for their strength and courage in such challenging circumstances. 'Head will remain in prison, as he has throughout this process, as we await resentencing.' One of Head's victims, a 25-year-old woman, tragically passed away last year. Her heartbroken mum released the following emotional statement: "Regardless of the outcome of this trial and independently of the jury's verdicts on each of the charges that Graham Head has just faced, I want to say a few words on behalf of my daughter. "My (only) daughter tragically died in late 2024 – a couple days after being informed by the CPS that Graham Head had been successful in appealing his conviction for kidnap of my daughter and for causing serious sexual harm to her and to another even younger female victim. "I feel strongly that I need to protect the anonymity of my own and my daughter's friends and the families and friends of Graham Head's victims. "However, I want to recognise and say my own deep thanks for the strong and compassionate support that my daughter, myself, and our family have received from the Police, the CPS, the witness service, and the Courts over the past two years. "This retrial process has been tremendously difficult and a huge strain for all of us; we're glad it is now over. "I'm especially grateful for the attuned support of the Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT) and the Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy (ISVA) service who supported my daughter every step of the way through the challenges of bringing this man to justice on both trials. "Looking to my family's future following my daughter's death, my biggest hope is that other families can now hopefully feel much safer knowing that this dangerous man is no longer able to predate and attack any other vulnerable young local woman thanks to his deserved (re)conviction for these appalling offences. Bognor councillor calls for police action over Swastika vandalism
A town councillor has called on Sussex Police to "take more action" after Swastikas were drawn on and carved into more than 50 pieces of furniture in a Wells, of Bognor Regis Town Council, said the vandalism in Hotham Park was "horrendous", and claimed it was the latest in a spate of incidents in the added that the town faced a "downward spiral" unless there was a crackdown on Police said it had increased patrols and engagement in the area, and was working to gather evidence, catch offenders and address the underlying issues. The damage to furniture in Hotham Park, which opened 78 years ago, had been appearing since the start of June, Mr Wells he said the vandalism was part of a wider problem in April, a 20-year-old was stabbed to death near the pier, a 17-year-old was taken to hospital after being injured by a machete last month, and there was a series of recent connected burglaries and thefts. "We have our problems in Bognor, but this is more of a general society issue," Mr Wells told BBC Radio said the town council had set up the new Town Action Group, which will work with partners including Sussex Police to tackle some of the Mr Wells added: "We want Sussex Police to take more action. We know their finances and resources are tight, but we've got to start addressing this problem otherwise we're on a downward spiral."Ch Insp Will Keating-Jones said: "We understand the impact crime and anti-social behaviour has on Bognor's residents and businesses, and have introduced a range of new measures with our partners."He said that as well as working with the action group, police would be introducing a specialist mobile vehicle at areas of increased crime or anti-social behaviour, "a method that has had proven success across the county", he with information about the vandalism in Hotham Park is urged to contact police.
