Oregon women's golf advances to match play at NCAA Championship
At this point, the Oregon Ducks reaching the match-play round of the NCAA Championships is becoming commonplace.
On Monday, with a final round of -4, the Ducks advanced out of the stroke play and into the match-play rounds of the NCAA Championships, finished at -6 for the four rounds and in second place. The Stanford Cardinal stole the show in the stroke-play rounds, shooting an impressive -27 for the week.
This is the second year in a row and the third time since 2022 that the Ducks have made it to the matchplay round of the championship as one of the final eight teams in the field.
Big Ten Golfer of the Year Kiara Romero shot a seven-under 65 on Monday to move the Ducks up to No. 2 in the field, as the team matched the low round of the day with a -4 (284).
'Very thankful for the opportunity to return to match play,' head coach Derek Radley said. 'Just extremely proud to finish with that second seed after stroke play in a really talented field. I saw some really great things from our team and I thought we really did a good job of sticking to our game plan.
Oregon will face No. 7 seed Texas beginning at 7:40 a.m. PT, with the winner moving on to play either No. 3 seed Northwestern or No. 6 seed Arkansas in the semifinals later in the day.

North Peace Minor Baseball eyes expansion after quick recovery from shed fire
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The president of North Peace Minor Baseball is feeling 'fantastic' despite a fire which burned its equipment shed to the ground at the start of the season. Scott MacLean said there were no delays in the season beginning, even though the club's shed went up in flames in April , one day before opening the season. At the time, the Fort St. John RCMP said it had received a report about the fire but did not give any more information. Several donors stepped up to give the club a hand, including NorthRiver Midstream, Rig Ratz Safety, Jiffy Lube and United Rentals. 'We were able to replace all the equipment that was inside and erect a small storage shed,' said MacLean. 'It was really quick.' MacLean has been involved with the organization for the past 11 years; he became president in 2024 after the former head, Forrest Liddicoat, retired. Last season, he oversaw the development of a youth umpire program, which he says has 'been fantastic' and for his second year, he wanted to see more player enrollment in the league. '[Player growth has] been continual over the last 10 years,' said MacLean. 'We took a chance on moving people from a waiting list and actually had about 300-plus participants. 'In my second year I concentrated a little bit more on growth. Based on our waiting lists that we currently have, I would like to expand even more next year. We had 40 kids on the waiting list, my goal is to have nobody on the waiting list.' As the season draws to a close, North Peace Minor Baseball will host the Montney League Baseball playoff tournament for competitive teams at the U-13, U-15 and U-18 levels and recreational league playoffs in town will begin on Monday, June 23rd. Headquartered in Beaverlodge, the Montney League Baseball will feature teams from Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Grande Prairie, High Prairie and Peace River starting on Friday, June 20th at Kin Park. 'We are fortunate Fort St. John has one of the nicer facilities at Kin Park to host large tournaments,' said MacLean. 'We do find that the other communities do like coming here.' Tight end target Luke Sorensen commits to Nebraska football over Ole Miss
A three-star tight end recruit has announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Luke Sorensen chose the Huskers over finalists Ole Miss and Penn State. Sorensen plays tight end for Servite High School out of Anaheim, California. It should be no surprise that the tight end chose Nebraska. The recruit recently told On3 that Nebraska's offensive scheme is attractive to him. 'Nebraska is another school I like a lot. I think Dylan Raiola is a great quarterback and I like the offense they run too. I see a great opportunity to play there too. In their tight end room, I feel I could make an impact. It is Big Ten football, so they are looking for bigger tight ends like me.' In 11 games last season, Sorensen had 15 receptions for 183 yards and two touchdowns. The tight end is the sixth recruit for the Nebraska class of 2026. The Huskers have made the tight end position a priority on the recruiting trail and in their offensive scheme. With talent like Heinrich Haarberg, Luke Lindenmeyer, and Carter Nelson already on the roster, it should be no surprise that Nebraska would want to add to that depth via recruiting.
