Trainer Paul Messara believes Know Thyself is an ideal $3 million Big Dance contender and plans to decide early in the week if The Coast winner will get his chance to qualify via Friday's Listed $200,000 Scone Cup (1600m).
Know Thyself scored his fourth straight victory and second feature success this preparation with a sustained performance to prevail in the $500,000 The Coast at Gosford on Saturday.

The son of The Autumn Son also captured the $1 million Country Championships Final at Royal Randwick last month.
Messara, who trains alongside Leah Gavranich, is open to backing him up six days after his The Coast win on home turf at Scone.
'We will know a bit more midweek and see if there is much bounce in his legs and take it from there,' Messara said.
'That (The Big Dance) would be a lovely race for him to run in, it's perfect for him really.
'It might not be this preparation because he has done a great job already with four wins in a row but we will just see how he comes through.'

The Kris Lees-trained Rustic Steel successfully backed up from his The Coast victory in 2022 and captured the Scone Cup before going on to salute in the inaugural Big Dance later in the same year.
Know Thyself's victory in The Coast provided the ratings boost needed to guarantee him a start in the Scone Cup.
Messara plans to nominate Know Thyself for Scone on Monday before making a decision.
Meanwhile, trainer Mack Griffith will set his sets on the second leg of a country feature hat-trick when his speedster Compelling Truth contests Saturday's Listed $200,000 Ortensia Stakes (1100m).

Compelling Truth took out the $200,000 Wagga Town Plate earlier this month for the biggest victory of his career and will be hunting a winning hat-trick at Scone's two-day carnival.
Both the Listed $200,000 Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) and Ortensia Stakes were options at Scone.
'He is going to be nominated for both races but I am thinking the 1100m on the big long Scone straight will be the better race for him,' Griffith said.
'Braith Nock will ride.
'He went back to the farm for a few days after his win at Wagga which is his normal routine and he's done really well.
'We will see where he ends up (in terms of a Kosciuszko) but more short term we are looking at this and then a Ramornie with him.'
The Listed Ramornie Handicap is held at Grafton in July.

Billy Slater urged to make Reece Walsh call after Broncos fullback stars in comeback win

Reece Walsh has put Maroons coach Billy Slater on notice after a scintillating performance on Sunday, leading the Broncos to a stunning 34-28 comeback win over Cronulla. The 22-year-old, renowned for his flashy style, produced some moments of magic as well as some grit and toughness as the Broncos turned around a 28-12 deficit to get their season back on track. Walsh finished with two try assists, three linebreak assists, a linebreak, five tackle busts and 178m in a performance sure to have got Slater's attention. 'He's a competitor, and I guess we all expect Reecey to come up with those things, just with what he's able to do,' Michael Maguire said after the Broncos' win on Sunday. 'He just keeps competing.' And with Slater looking forward to Game 3, many have suggested he may axe struggling fullback Kalyn Ponga and either look to Walsh or switch Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow to fullback. In Game 1, the Knights superstar had 21 runs for 163 metres, and it was even more dire in Game 2 as he registered just eight runs for 77 metres, as well as missing four tackles and making two errors. His Game 2 horror show led former Broncos and Warriors player Denan Kemp to suggest Slater should drop him for the Origin decider. 'He dropped three bombs. He got bounced off by Cleary and got lucky there was an obstruction,' Kemp said on the Bloke in a Bar podcast on Thursday 'I think Billy has to have a real hard look at that fullback position. I think KP (Ponga) is just out of form. 'It's tough but if you've got that many errors, it's just a real question we (Queensland) have to ask ourselves. We need someone who's bringing energy around the ruck, making their catches and tackles. It's definitely a question that I think Billy should be considering because we can't afford to go into Game 3 and have that many dropped balls. We'll lose by 30-plus.' And after Sunday's incredible performance, Slater appears to have been handed the perfect solution to his problem in the form of Walsh. The fullback has played five Origin games and if not being out with a knee injury early in the season, many believe he would have been Slater's preferred No.1. Walsh's knee is still far from right with the fullback seen limping on several occasions during the win. However, the 22-year-old says it is getting better each week. 'It's good, I was trying to hide it (laughs),' Walsh said of his knee. 'It's a work in progress. I am still trying to get used to the feel of it.' And after an incredible showing on Sunday fans have called for Slater to pick him at fullback for the State of Origin decider, declaring even a one-legged Walsh is their best chance at reclaiming the Origin shield. 'I know he's not 100% but there's a case for Reece Walsh playing FB for QLD, moving Ponga to 14?' one fan wrote. 'Surely Reece Walsh has to be picked for Origin III. A one-legged Walsh is better than Ponga,' another said. 'Queensland can't go without Reece Walsh in SOO III when he's in this sort of form. It's irresistible. Just got to decide whether Kalyn Ponga can be afforded on the bench alongside Kurt Mann and two other forwards,' a third added. While a fourth said: 'Walsh is back!'. NSW will have a home-ground advantage for the series decider, which will take place at Sydney's Accor Stadium on Wednesday, July 9.

‘Unicorn, alien': Sam Darcy blows AFL away in Bulldogs' demolition win

Victor Wembanyama is the NBA's alien, and Sam Darcy might just be the AFL's unicorn. The Western Bulldogs forward continued his breakout season with five goals in his side's 79-point demolition of Richmond on Sunday afternoon. FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? The Dogs won 21.9 (135) to 8.8 (56), getting a healthy percentage boost to leapfrog the Gold Coast Suns, who fell out of the top eight for the first time this season after losing a seven-point thriller to GWS. Darcy is only scratching the surface of his talent but the 21-year-old looks close to unstoppable in a marking contest when he is in full flight. His reach, athleticism, and ability to kick on both sides of his body has the 208cm forward posed to tear the competition apart. The Herald Sun's Jay Clark said Darcy had been described as a 'cheat code' by his teammates, and the AFL's best players are in already in awe of Darcy and his star potential. 'He is an absolute unicorn, an alien of a player,' reigning Coleman Medal winner Jesse Hogan said of Darcy earlier this week. 'The way he moves and how good his hands are, I don't think there's a player you can compare him to at the moment. 'His ceiling is higher than any player in the competition. 'He's going to be a nightmare for key backs over the next 10-15 years. 'I don't know how you stop him. No player has ever had what he's had, so it's a pretty scary proposition.' 'What I think is underrated with him is how aggressive he is,' Carlton captain Patrick Cripps said on AFL 360. 'Sometimes you can get these tall guys that have all the attributes but what's underrated is the aggression. 'He's got some serious craft, as you get older you love seeing these guys come in. He'll change the game and he's going to be special.' Darcy kicked five goals against Richmond, with defender Noah Balta giving him too much room to roam and mark unopposed inside forward 50. 'I'm always looking at areas to improve,' Darcy told Fox Footy post-game. 'AFL is such a demanding game — four-quarter running power, trying to build that fitness base, work on kicking and the marking craft.' Four-time premiership Jordan Lewis told Darcy could become so dominant that rival teams will need to recruit lanky, athletic defenders who can challenge Darcy. 'I love a kid that comes in and really uses his assets as a strength, and that's clearly his height,' Lewis said. 'So I think the one thing that probably gets underplayed in what has been a relatively short career is he seems like he's got good football IQ. 'He knows what positions to get into, he's got great dexterity on both sides of his body. He's only going to get better once he matures into his body. 'I think he's asking questions not only of the opposition but certainly how the opposition plan their list build in the future and do they recruit someone that they think is specifically suited to play on Sam Darcy. 'Typically it's been a defender that probably hasn't been tall. We've seen a few sort of around the sort of 198cm, but is there is there someone out there that's a little bit taller that can go with Sam Darcy? 'If it's not now, it certainly will in the not too distant future, force teams to think, 'have we got a specific player on our list that can play on Sam Darcy?' 'Gee he's exciting,' Fox Footy commentator Matt Hill said after Darcy's performance against Richmond. 'Even a neutral supporter would come through the turnstile to watch him play.' The Bulldogs were dominant across the ground as Marcus Bontempelli played arguably his best game of the season, finishing with three goals and 36 disposals. Bontempelli was singing Darcy's praises, telling Fox Footy post-game: 'Lucky to play with him and lucky to have someone so big and dominant up the ground. 'He's still a young man but he's impressing us every single week.' 'They've just been ruthless,' Nathan Buckley said on Fox Footy after the Bulldogs' big win. 'Special': Lions youngster's 28-year AFL first Darcy isn't the only young key forward threatening to take the AFL by the storm. Brisbane Lions youngster Logan Morris starred in a big win over Geelong, becoming the youngest player to kick five goals or more in consecutive games since Essendon great Matthew Lloyd in 1997. The No. 31 draft pick has emerged as a gun forward and Brisbane's longterm replacement for Joe Daniher. Richmond champion Jack Riewoldt said Morris' marking ability was 'extremely special overhead'. 'I haven't seen many kids come in and play the way he does and the way he catches the ball. The way he reads the flight is second to none in the AFL,' Riewoldt said. 'He's about to really announce himself in the AFL. He's going to be a superstar.'
