The panel also found he pocketed $7 million in illegal kickbacks and, in return, prosecutors said Chang agreed to approve and guarantee $2 billion in loans to state-owned entities in Mozambique.
While funds were intended to fund three maritime projects, evidence showed Chang and his co-conspirators diverted more than $200 million in loan proceeds to pay bribes and kickbacks to bankers and Mozambique officials. Singh was accused of pocketing $5.7 million in kickbacks.
Singh was is the last of three former Credit Suisse bankers who pleaded guilty to taking millions of dollars in kickbacks.
Andrew Pearse, who was Singh's boss and served as the government's star witness at both trials, also avoided prison. A third banker, Detelina Subeva, pleaded guilty but did not testify.

Raids on bars and restaurants with women servers in Bengaluru, 15 FIRs registered

Bengaluru city Central and West division police, on Thursday night, raided 19 bars and restaurants where women were serving food and liquor. The raids included several bars and restaurants on M.G. Road, Brigade Road, Ashok Nagar, Upparpet, Kalasipalya, Majestic, and around S.J. Park. Raids followed a tip-off that the bars and restaurants that have a licence to let women serve food and liquor, were violating norms. Following the raid, 15 separate FIRs were registered for violating norms. Most of these bars and restaurants had skimpily clad women serving customers violating rules, said the police. Some were even operating dance bars and others were open beyond the permissible 1 a.m. deadline. Mr. Singh said all establishments have to operate strictly adhering to their licence conditions and guidelines laid down by the High Court of Karnataka. 'There were reports of serious violations and immoral activities being carried out at some of these bars and restaurants, prompting us to raid them. Stringent action will be taken against all violators,' he said. In a statement issued on Friday evening, the city police said that they would keep an eye on these establishments and would recommend for cancellation of their licences if they are found violating norms again. During the raids, several other violations of Health and Family Welfare and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike norms were found. These violations will be flagged and referred to other departments, the officials said.
