The Rise of Playful Proportions: Inside the World of Fashion's Most Joyful Silhouette

Gone are the days when minimalism reigned supreme and proportions played it safe. As Coco Chanel once said 'fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions.' And In 2025 that architecture is being reimagined – through asymmetry, drama and deliberate imbalance, fashion is finally shedding its obsession with restraint and symmetry. The message? Proportions are no longer a matter of balance but of boldness. From voluminous sleeves that seem to float midair to sharply exaggerated tailoring which borders on the theatrical, the fashion world is embracing a new aesthetic vocabulary – playful proportions. This isn't just a passing trend – it is a bold reimagining of elegance, where individuality takes centre stage and maximalism is no longer a rebellion. Tracee Ellis Ross in Marc Jacobs at the Met Gala Amina Khalil in Rami Kadi at Cannes At the MetGala 2025, Tracee Ellis Ross's striking Marc Jacobs ensemble, featuring exaggerated wide legged trousers and a sculptural satin bow at the waist was the perfect example of how a voluminous silhouette transforms classic tailoring into high fashion drama. At Cannes 2025, Amina Khalil, wore a custom Rami Kadi gown with a sculpted bodice and cascading feathered tiers, a striking balance between softness and structure. On the runway On recent runways, fashion houses took to inflating silhouettes and a touch of playfulness. From YSL's sloped and elongated shoulders and voluminous ball gowns to Schiaparelli's carefully engineered construction of silhouettes. Rami Al Ali's Spring/Summer 2025, was an architectural marvel with geometric motifs which disrupted the symmetry of the otherwise sleek silhouettes. Ashi Studio's immense Balloon skirt created an intentional imbalance and exaggerated volume in a theatrical way. They show that awkward proportions and layering doesn't have to be over the top – they can be elegant and wearable too. Why is fashion leaning into this imbalance? At first, playful proportions might look like just a fun and impractical trend. But if you look closer, it's a natural reaction to the visual fatigue of minimal, plain fashion. It's less like a trend and more like a philosophy. Now, after the pandemic and the quiet luxury trend, people are moving back towards bold styles that show personality, creativity, and joy. The desire to break free, advocating for fun and expressive fashion and the appetite for emotions, personality, and visual excitement is definitely knocking our doors. High street brands are replicating the look with unexpected creativity – ballooned sleeves, wide cut pants, trapeze shaped coats, they are making fashion fun again for the average consumer. The desire to reject perfection and embrace individuality reflects how people, especially Gen Z and social creators, want to stand out and celebrate their complexities. Fashion creators' search history probably reads like a modern style manifesto: oversized jackets, statement sleeves, layered looks. This shows that fashion creators are looking for more volume, drama and excitement. It helps them break traditional fashion rules, turning garments into bold statements of identity and creativity. It does not only amplify one's volume but demands attention allowing for personal expression which says more is more.

Lip-readers sleuthed Taylor Swift's amazed reaction to Panthers forcing OT in Game 4 PANTHERS FORCE OT WITH 20 SECONDS LEFT 😱 WHAT A GAME. — Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) June 13, 2025 Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce picked quite a hockey game to attend! On Thursday, the celebrity couple were in Florida to take in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers. The pair had quite the night, even meeting hockey's Great One — Wayne Gretzky — in between periods in the process. Swift and Kelce were also treated to an absolute hockey thriller between the Panthers and Oilers. The Panthers took an early 3-0 lead, which seemed to signal the end for Edmonton in this series, before the Oilers stormed back to score four straight goals. Just when all hope seemed to be lost for the Panthers, Florida forced overtime with a last-second, game-tying tally from Sam Reinhart. As the cameras panned to Swift and Kelce for their reactions, it looked as if Swift seemed to say "that was so crazy!" And crazy it was! This Stanley Cup Final has been rife with drama and theatrics and Game 4 followed suit in more ways than one. In between the third period and overtime, it also seemed as if Swift was having a great time recounting the moment with Kelce. TAYLOR SWIFT IS FEELING THE HEAT OF OVERTIME HOCKEY 🗣️ — SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) June 13, 2025 Seriously, what an absolute treat of a hockey game to go to.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant parts ways with Mike Miller's agency, Lift Sports Management

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has parted ways with Lift Sports Management, multiple sources told The Commercial Appeal on June 12. The sources were granted anonymity since no official announcement has been made. Advertisement The Lift Sports Management list of clients no longer includes Morant, who was listed on the website as recently as May 16. Morant joined Lift, an agency headed by former Grizzlies player Mike Miller, in April 2024. Miller became a regular at Grizzlies home games this season, usually seated courtside alongside of Morant's father, Tee Morant. Morant and Miller could not be reached for comment for this story. Ja Morant previously joined Lift after parting ways with Jim Tanner of Tandem Sports + Entertainment. Morant spent his first five NBA seasons being represented by Tanner. After becoming the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Morant quickly became a star NBA point guard in Memphis. He won the NBA's Rookie of the Year award, then won the league's Most Improved award in his third season. Advertisement The success led to Morant earning his own signature shoe, becoming Nike Basketball's first Gen Z athlete. However, Morant's journey hasn't been all peaches and rainbows. He was first suspended in March 2023 after brandishing a gun in an Instagram Live video. Two months later, a second Instagram Live video surfaced online of Morant brandishing a gun. He received a 25-game suspension at the start of the 2023-24 season. Morant made two All-Star games in 2022 and 2023. Injuries and the lengthy aforementioned suspension shortened his 2023-24 campaign. He averaged 23.2 points and 7.3 assists in 50 regular season games with the Grizzlies this season. Ja Morant, Grizzlies remain strong All indications are that the relationship between the Grizzlies and Morant remains strong. Memphis hired Tuomas Iisalo as its next coach when the season ended. Morant spoke highly of Iisalo before the hiring, and his stats improved when Iisalo took over in place of former Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins. Advertisement The Grizzlies have also continued to prioritize Morant as a franchise cornerstone. Morant signed a five-year extension worth $197 million in July 2022. He'll be eligible for a two-year extension this summer, but he has three seasons remaining on his current contract. What's next for Ja Morant Morant could look to partner with another agency that best represents his goals. Another option for the Grizzlies star is self representation. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recently parted ways with Wasserman to represent himself. Joel Embiid is another NBA star who also went the self representation route.
