Congress govt. has fulfilled 242 promises out of 593 in two years, claims Siddaramaiah
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said that the State government is delivering good governance. It has fulfilled 242 out of the 593 promises in the last two years, while the BJP government when it was in power didn't fulfil even 10% of the promises that it made, Mr. Siddaramaiah claimed.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the decennial ceremony of the implementation of Article 371(J), Budakattu Samskritika Utsav and naming of Raichur University after Maharshi Valmiki at Yaragera village in Raichur district on Monday.
The Chief Minister also distributed benefits to beneficiaries of various schemes, laid foundation stone and inaugurated various development works worth ₹936 crore.
Listing out the good work done by the Congress government, he expressed the confidence that people of the region will support the government and also the Congress by electing its candidates in all the seven Assembly seats of Raichur district in the next elections.
Comparing the Congress rule with the BJP rule in the State, the Chief Minister said that the Congress government has initiated development works at a cost of ₹936 crore in Raichur district alone.
'It is clear and evident that the Opposition parties are lying about the State's financial condition, that the government has no money for development works. The BJP and the Janata Dal(S), that have a habit of misleading people, didn't put in any efforts to develop the State when they were in power. But they are unable to tolerate the development being taken up by the Congress government not only in Raichur district but also in the entire State,' he said.
Taking a dig at BJP leaders, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that they have no moral rights to criticise the government and its commitment in developing the Kalyan Karnataka region.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said that it was the BJP that opposed Article 371(J) for the backward Kalyan Karnataka region. However, senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge made it possible with the cooperation of the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
'Because of the special status, this region is getting a ₹5,000 crore annual grant, thousands are getting medical and engineering seats and the educated are getting government jobs under the provision,' he said.
The Chief Minister explained how the State is being subjected to injustice by the Centre in releasing funds. 'Big injustice has been done to the State in the 15th Finance Commission, because of which the State has to face a deficit of ₹80,000 crore. No single BJP parliamentarian has questioned it. The State has already submitted memoranda and raised issues. Now, I will again meet the Prime Minister to make it correct in the 16th Finance Commission,' he said.
Before concluding his speech, Mr. Siddaramaiah appealed to the people to elect MLA Basanagouda Daddal again, giving him another chance to serve the people.
AICC president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Ministers H.K. Patil, H.C. Mahadevappa, K.J George, Sharan Prakash Patil, Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, M.C. Sudhakar, N.S. Boseraju, Shivaraj Tangadagi, MP G. Kumar Naik, MLA and KKRDB Chairman Ajay Singh, Basanagouda Daddal, Hamanagouda Badarli, Hampayya Naik, Channareddy Patil Tunnur, Basanagouda Turvihal, MLCs Sharanagouda Bayyapur, A. Vasant Kumar and others were present.

Karnataka CM inaugurates development works worth 936 crore in Raichur
Raichur (Karnataka) [India], June 23 (ANI): Development works worth Rs 936 crore were inaugurated in Raichur, Karnataka, on Monday, reaffirming the Congress Government's commitment to delivering on its promises, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, as per an official statement from the Karnataka Chief Minister's Office (CMO). He was speaking after inaugurating the Tribal Cultural Festival organised by the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department and the District Administration, unveiling the nameplate of Adikavi Maharshi Valmiki University, and participating in the 371st Dashamanotsav celebrations. 'Our government is committed to development. We had promised 560 guarantees during this election. Already, 235 of these have been fulfilled, and the remaining will be completed in the next three years,' the Chief Minister said. He criticised the previous BJP government, accusing it of neglecting development and now resorting to false propaganda out of frustration over Congress' achievements. 'From 2013 to 2018, our previous government fulfilled all the promises made and even 30 more that were not part of the manifesto,' he recalled. Highlighting the 'steep price rise' under the Modi-led government, the CM pointed out how the prices of gold, silver, rice, pulses, cooking oil, LPG, petrol, diesel, and fertilisers have risen sharply, burdening ordinary citizens. 'Despite being in power at the Centre, the BJP is lying shamelessly to the people,' he charged. Emphasising the historical importance of Article 371J for Kalyana Karnataka's progress, CM Siddaramaiah reminded that it was the result of the relentless efforts of Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Dharam Singh, supported by the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government. 'The BJP opposed this historic step. When Vajpayee was Prime Minister, Advani said that 371J was not possible,' he said. Since coming to power, the Congress government has allocated Rs 13,500 crore for Kalyana Karnataka's development, with a commitment to allocate more funds going forward. 'Due to 371J, our youth are now becoming engineers, doctors, IAS, IPS, ACs, and DCs. This is our achievement,' he said. Thanking the people of Kalyana Karnataka for electing Congress in all five Lok Sabha seats from the region, he said, 'The blessings of the people of Raichur district are always upon us. Kalyana Karnataka will remain a stronghold of Congress.' Lashing out at the BJP for 'betraying' Karnataka, he said, 'Even though they are in power at the Centre, BJP leaders have failed to correct the injustice done to Karnataka. No BJP or MP has raised their voice to protect the state's interests. This is their true character.' 'I will be visiting Delhi today to demand that the injustice done to Karnataka by the 15th Finance Commission be corrected at least in the 16th Finance Commission. I will be meeting the Union Finance Minister regarding this,' the Chief Minister announced. The CM predicted that Raichur MLA Raja Venkatappa Nayak Daddal has a bright future and will secure victory in the 2028 elections. (ANI)
