A popular family-run holiday park in Edinburgh has received global recognition after it received consistent glowing reviews from their customers .
Linwater Caravan Park in Newbridge was named a 2025 Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award winner, placing the park among the top 10 per cent of hospitality businesses in the world, reports The Daily Record.
This impressive award was given to the site after they achieved consistently high guest reviews received over the past 12 months.
Established in 1998 by the Guinan family, the Edinburgh holiday park offers spacious touring and camping pitches, self-catering static caravans and luxury lodges, all in a tranquil setting with easy access to the capital and nearby country walks.
To mark the occasion, Linwater bosses have announced a £200,000 investment in a new static caravan terrace, set for completion in summer 2025.
The project is transforming a previously unused corner of the site into what's being described as a 'stunning accommodation space', featuring two new luxury lodges and six brand new static caravans.
Katie Guinan, owner of Linwater Caravan Park, said: 'We are absolutely delighted to receive the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award for 2025.
'This recognition means so much to us as a small, family-run business, and it's a real credit to the hardworking and dedicated team we have here. We pour our hearts into this place, and it's incredibly rewarding to know our guests value what we do.
'Since opening our doors in 1998, we've remained committed to offering a warm welcome, high-quality facilities, and peaceful surroundings for our guests.
"Whether visitors are pitching up on our touring site, enjoying a self-catering stay, or planning to stay in our luxurious lodges, our aim is always the same, to help people make happy holiday memories in comfort and tranquillity.'

The park currently holds an impressive 4.8 rating on Tripadvisor, with recent reviews praising the peaceful location, spotless facilities, and thoughtful amenities.
One reviewer shared: 'The caravan park is in a quiet location (there's some aircraft noise but no busy roads nearby). We stayed for a week in one of the self-catering lodges. The lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped, a proper home from home. This is the second time we've stayed here and will definitely book again.'
They added that Edinburgh was easily accessible by park and ride just a few minutes away, and recommended a visit to the nearby Jupiter Artland.
Another guest who stayed with their touring caravan praised the calm atmosphere and facilities, writing: 'It was pretty quiet, people respecting the noise restriction times.
"The shower block was spotless when we arrived… only one negative about the site itself and that is the shower timer, water stays on for about 30 seconds so you have to be quick or have a shower buddy with you!
"Other than that, I'd give the site 5 stars. The amenities were amazing, the fact they supply a kitchen with a microwave is something we've not come across before and is perfect for those in tents.'
They also highlighted the park's location as ideal for visiting landmarks like The Kelpies, the Falkirk Wheel and the Forth Bridge.
Another review, from a campervan guest, added: 'We loved it and would absolutely come back. Beautiful shower facilities! The shared kitchen (also beautiful) had so much information about how to get into Edinburgh and local takeaways. 100 per cent would recommend. We drove to the tram stop (Islington?) and got the tram into the city from there, free parking and super easy.'

It's the number one attraction in the world but dissatisfied customers share hilarious and scathing reviews

The Empire State Building stands tall as one of the most iconic buildings in the world and just over 2.5million guests visit each year to climb to the top of New York City 's iconic emblem. It serves as the backdrop for many a movie, TV show, and big city dream board and most visitors thoroughly enjoy their time at the attraction. TripAdvisor rated it the #1 attraction in the world last year but that hasn't stopped people from leaving scathing, if not slightly nonsensical reviews on their website. Whether its the weather on the day of the visit, lack of unlimited coffee or the price point, lots of people found something to complain about at the sought after attraction - one person even claimed how much they disliked it but had visited three times! For reference, the building, which was originally constructed in 1931, sells $44 tickets to its 86th floor observatory. If tourists want to see the city from even higher, they can pay $80 to add on the 102nd to their journey upwards. For just over $150 visitors are able to take two trips to the top in one day and get admission to American Museum of Natural History, 9/11 Memorial & Museum, and the Statue of Liberty. Each of the admissions passes can be accompanies by an Express Pass which allows patrons to skip the line. Of the 96,707 reviews as of Friday, 63,356 give the building 5 stars, rating it as 'excellent', and just 1,788 people say their experience was 'terrible' by rating it with just one star. We've rounded up the most extraordinary reviews of the bunch. Some of the one star reviews are all too ready to critique the building for the views available at the top, whether that be because of the weather or vantage point of the building Some of the one star reviews are all too ready to critique the building for the views available at the top, whether that be because of the weather or vantage point of the building. 'Nothing could be seen. No refunds available which is ridiculous. Nothing interesting on the floors prior to the top. Not worth the money,' one poster wrote. Another shared: 'Honestly not a very good experience. We waited all day to enjoy a night at the Empire State Building. We spent $50 each for the ticket to see nothing but clouds because it was very clouded and when we asked the workers what could be done, if we could get a refund or exchange the the day for another day the employee wasn't very nice and not understanding. 'With quote saying it wasn't their doing and that can't control that however if they say there wasn't a view why let us go all the way up or closed it down or any other type of solution very unsatisfied we came all the way from Florida with family to see the Empire State Building to see absolutely nothing.' One commenter admitted that despite their dissatisfaction, they'd visited the building three times. 'Pathetic theatrical security check, unprofessional. Not worth it. An hour for nothing. Anyway... I don't recommend it. I've been three times before..,' they wrote. Others thought the price point was too steep for the experience they were given. A reviewer wrote: 'There is a very small space and so much crowd. Its very expensive for that experience and not worthy.' 'You need to be careful when booking this attraction as when things go wrong this money grabbing greedy attitude attraction with shockingly poor customer service is not giving refunds. They make you click terms and conditions with a clause this is a non refundable ticket. And it is not a cheap attraction, so think twice before you book it. 'Here is what happened in my case: unfortunately, it was very foggy on the day when I wanted yo visit. I paid for both floors 86 and 102. It was really foggy and visibility was zero! I paid a lot of money and saw literally just the fog :). I was offered a rebooking to other day option. The problem was I was flying back to Europe next day, so I could not use it. When I asked for a refund they send an email with an automated, copy and paste message, saying more or less that tickets are non refundable and I can rebook. They didn't care I have no day to rebook it as I am leaving. Nobody even responded to my second email. Shocking customer service. 'You are an observation deck and when the visibility is zero you should be giving refunds, especially to people who are unable to rebooking it to later date as in my case. You customer service is shocking!!! Terrible. I have wasted so much money (there was three people in my party, $289 to see the fog). I hope your money grabbing company will enjoy my dollars. Profit is what matters here not customers. 'Here is my suggestion to Make Empire State Building Great Again: Issue refund to people who see only fog and can not rebook it to other date and please, please improve your shockingly bad customer service. Thank you.' According to their website, patrons often have the opportunity to reschedule and see a live view of the top of the building, to ensure what they see will be to their liking. And some just called for a staffing overhaul. One person wrote on TripAdvisor: 'The experience on it's own was amazing, what made it bitter was the staff member clocking pictures on a green screen right after the tickets are scanned. 'I didn't want my photo taken and he clearly wanted to force me into it, he clearly makes commission off those pictures handing out postcards with barcodes. He was quite weird and unpleasant.' Another wrote: 'Mediocre. Paid extra to skip the line and felt like I was given prejudiced service compared to others.' Where as another said: 'We paid a good amount of money thinking that we would get coffee unlimited and pastries and no. One coffee and one pastries and they are super rude. No like.' The Empire State commented that with the package the person has bought there was refreshments included but it was not unlimited. Graciously, the Empire State Building team commented back to their dissenters, apologizing for their negative experience and offering explanations and solutions for another visit.

Seaside pub named one of the best in the UK with ‘floating' beer garden by the beach

Picnic tables bob up and down on a floating pontoon that literally sits out on the Restronguet Creek in Falmouth and it goes up and down with the tide. 4 The floating pontoon has some of the best seats in Falmouth Credit: Trip Advisor 4 For anyone travelling by boat, the jetty leads right up to the front door Credit: Alamy Of course punters can access the pub on foot or by car, but for anyone wanting to go in style, you can even access The Pandora Inn by water on the pub's own mooring pontoon. Directly outside the Inn is a slip for 'parking' and there are access points along the creek. One is the popular Loe Beach, which is approximately 2 miles from The Pandora Inn over water. The 'floating' pontoon has picnic tables in the summertime which is a real hit with visitors who get to eat and drink on the water. In 2023, The Pandora Inn was included among eight pubs listed by The Times for its wonderful setting to enjoy a pint or two. Speaking about the pub, The Times wrote: "Thatched and whitewashed, this is the quintessential Cornish pub — and it has a wonderful setting beside Restronguet Creek, a tributary of the River Fal and a yachtie's favourite. "Inside it's all old beams, low ceilings, maritime memorabilia and ships in glass cabinets; outside the 'garden' is in fact a big riverside pontoon." The Pandora Inn serves food throughout the day starting breakfast with a full menu from 12 noon until 9pm. On Sundays hungry visitors can indulge in a traditional roast dinner which will change in the summertime. As it's a pub, of course there are all sorts of drinks too, and it serve beers from St Austell Brewery, the Westcountry's leading brewer. The exotic beach bar that people can't believe is in Britain 4 Sailors can arrive to the pub 'garden' by boat Credit: Trip Advisor They serve ales, stouts, beers, cider and a have wine list of 21 from reds to white, rosé and sparkling. It's popular with guests too, one visitor wrote on Tripadvisor: "We ate upstairs - a really tasty pub lunch - before exploring outside along the jetty - the views were spectacular and well worth a visit - booking in advance would probably be advisable." Another added: "Great place to stop off if you have a boat as jetty/pontoon leads to nearly front door." A third wrote: "Great atmosphere, sitting on the jetty, drinking 'on the water'. And a brilliant spot for the children to entertain themselves crabbing!" The Pandora Inn is a historic gem with parts of it dating back to the 13th century. However in 2011, the pub made headlines after it was almost fully destroyed in a fire. The whole of the first floor of the ancient inn was destroyed and afterwards, it underwent a refurbishment - but still maintains its original look. As reported by Cornwall Live, the inn is now run by two friends who both previously worked there 15 years ago. The pub is now owned by Tom Milby and John Calland who joined forces to take on the old Falmouth inn. They said: "Our new venture together just feels right – it feels like coming home." One Sun Travel writer discovered a unique pub with a real beach in central London. And eight UK pubs where the beer garden is right on the beach for a pint in the hot weather.
