Jax Taylor quits social media 'to prioritise mental health'
Jax Taylor has quit social media in an effort to protect his mental health.
The 45-year-old reality TV star - who previously confessed to battling a drug addiction - has announced that he's taking a break from social media platforms, as he focuses on his "mental health and recovery".
Jax - who has Cruz, four, with Brittany Cartwright, his estranged wife - wrote on Instagram Story: "I've made the decision to stay off social media for the next while to prioritize my mental health and recovery. My team will be running it for the time being. (sic)"
Jax confessed that certain posts on social media can be triggering.
Speaking on 'In the Mind of Jax Taylor', he explained: "My brain is so fragile, and if I see certain things, they might trigger me. Something might hit a chord, and I don't think I'm strong enough to read certain things.
"For me to grow and get better and be a better person, there are some things I need to see in order to know what's going on. But I think I took it so much to the extreme of blocking everything and living in my own little world."
Jax feels he now needs to cut himself off from social media platforms.
He said: "The phone has become a problem. Do I need to be on social media? No, I don't."
Meanwhile, Jax previously admitted that he's been battling a cocaine addiction for more than 20 years.
He said on the 'Hot Mic' podcast: "I have substance issues - primarily with cocaine. It's hard to say out loud. I've been dealing with this on and off since I was 23 and now I'm 45.
"There was times where I would stop doing it but then there were times where I'd go heavy on it.
"I just want to let people know this is a really, really tough disease and it's a really tough sickness."
Brittany subsequently claimed that she spent years trying to help Jax to "get better".
She said on 'When Reality Hits': "No one wants Jax to be better more than I do, let's be real.
"I tried and tried and tried for years to help this man get better and for us to be a happy family, I was deeply and madly in love with him, there's no one that can ever deny that."

'World-first' Abbey Road proposal inspires new song
A couple's proposal has inspired a new record. Christina Teenz Tan and Ron Danziger got engaged inside London's Abbey Road's Studio One in November 2021, while they were recording their co-written track Pie-in-the-Sky - will have their new song Timeless be performed by 2022 Britain's Got Talent star Tom Ball. Like Pie-in-the-Sky, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and London Voices Choir, conducted by Robert Zeigler, recorded with Tom for the single - which will be released on June 27. The song - which has won 40 international awards for excellence in music and artistic direction - celebrates the preciousness of a bond that transcends time, culture, and the human experience. It was composed by Danziger with lyrics by Tan, arranged by Manu Martin, directed by Susan Lim and co-produced by Lim and Martin. Brittany Cartwright details why she finally filed for divorce from Jax Taylor
Brittany Cartwright filed for divorce when Jax Taylor became "more and more aggressive". The reality stars - who have four-year-old Cruz together - separated in January 2024 and Brittany finally made moves to officially end their marriage in August that year, and the decision came after Jax "stopped paying the mortgage" on their family home and their arguments became more explosive. The latest episode of The Valley showed Brittany meeting a divorce lawyer the day before Jax was due to leave rehab. She said: "I think it's the right time before he gets out. We separated in January of this year, I moved into an Airbnb for a while. We continued fighting, and nothing's getting better." Asked why she had made the appointment, Brittant told how Jax's "blow-ups [are] getting more and more aggressive." She added: "He's throwing furniture and punched walls and stuff but he hasn't laid his hands on me. Really bad. He is in rehab right now, he gets out tomorrow. He's still been rage-texting me." Brittany showed the texts she had received the night before until she "had to block him", in which Jax told his estranged spouse he knew she was "drinking" and that "everyone" would tell him "if you tattle on me again". She said: "He could actually ruin my chances of owning another home or anything. "My name is on it just as much as his is. I would lose the money I put down, the equity we put in ... If he doesn't fix this I'm ready to fight." And Brittany told the group Jax had lied about being taken to hospital. She explained his therapist had told her that Jax "made the girl who answers the phone cry because he told her that if anybody calls, lie and say he was on his way to Urgent Care." She added: "She was sobbing, crying. He made her feel like she had to tell people that, so the therapist had to tell all of us the truth that he never went to the hospital. I'm going through hell."
