Kneecap fans charged €30 for balaclavas and ‘free Mo Chara' tshirts at Dublin gig
Fans who did buy them at official merchandising stalls may feel they got a bit of a bargain as the same items are fetching over €110 online.
KNEECAP fans are not only lapping up their music but also their imaginative merchandising.
Woolen Irish tricolour balaclavas, as famously sported by band member DJ Provai, were on sale at last night's gig in Dublin's Fairview Park for €30.
Many fans took delight wearing them, with security signs on nearby entrances earlier anticipating the craze by signalling: 'Balaclavas may be worn but please show your face if asked by security staff'.

The most popular one being snapped up had 'Free Mo Chara' on its front, in obvious reference to band member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh's current court case in London.
Tshirts on sale at the gig
This was the group's first show since Liam's appearance at a magistrates court in London on Wednesday on alleged incitement of terrorism charges (for displaying a Hezbollah flag at a gig in the British capital several months ago), with his case being put back until August while he's released on unconditional bail.
Other t-shirts read 'Kneecap: England get out of Ireland' and 'Take these yokes and we'll go for a dance'.
A Kneecap hoodie was on sale for €70 and shorts for €40.
There was also a separate stall selling pro-Palestinian items.
Much of the marketing ideas are originated by the band's enterprising Dubliner manager Daniel Lambert.
Daniel is also the C.E.O. of Bohemians FC, where he has had a phenomenal success of bringing sales of merchandising of replica jerseys from just over €100,000 a year to an estimated €2 million.

The jerseys, many of which are bought online from abroad, have already have themes such as Bob Marley (who played in Dalymount Park in 1980), 'Refugees Welcome' and 'Fontaines DC'. Environmentalist Greta Thunberg was spotted wearing a Bohs' Fontaines DC on her recent attempted boat trip to Gaza.
'I'm a free man', announced Liam as he took to the stage last night, to whoops of support from the sold-out crowd of 8500 who packed out a giant marquee.

Liam also later wryly stressed that 'I'm not the first lad from west Belfast' that ended up in a British court.
The band also highlighted that while their fans got to enjoy an exhilarating show they should also contemplate about Palestinians being slaughtered in Gaza and the West Bank.

The group too paid a touching tribute to their late lightning designer Conor Biddle, offering sympathy to his family and husband Sean.
Kneecap will play Glastonbury on Saturday of next weekend, where they're expected to have one of the biggest crowds of the famous festival given not just the curiosity, they're attracting for being perhaps the most high-profile anti-establishment act at the moment but also because their catchy and thought-provoking music is attracting a growing army of fans.

Tech tycoon Mike Lynch's sunken super yacht lifted to surface
Salvage experts lifted Mike Lynch's sunken superyacht to the surface and began pumping seawater out of it on Saturday, 10 months after it sank off the coast of Sicily, killing the British tech tycoon, his teenage daughter and five others. Mr Lynch was born to a Co Tipperary mother who was a nurse and a Co Cork father who was a firefighter. Work resumed at first light, with one of the most powerful maritime cranes in Europe having been used to haul the 56-metre-long (184-foot) Bayesian from beneath the waves. The upper decks appeared badly damaged while the blue hull was encrusted with mud. The Bayesian was moored off the small port of Porticello, near Palermo, in August last year when it sank during a sudden storm. The yacht was vulnerable to violent winds and was probably knocked over by gusts of more than 117 km (73 miles) per hour, an interim British report said last month. The vessel will be held in an elevated position over the weekend while checks and preparations are made, said TMC Marine, which has been leading the salvage operation, working with Dutch specialists Hebo Maritiemservice to lift the yacht 50 metres from the seabed over the past few days. It is then expected to be transported to the nearby port of Termini Imerese on Monday and handed over to the authorities who are investigating the sinking. The recovery process has been made easier after the vessel's 72-metre mast was detached using a remote-controlled cutting tool and placed on the seabed on Tuesday. In addition to Lynch, founder of the software company Autonomy, his daughter Hannah, lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda, banker Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy, and chef Recaldo Thomas were killed when the yacht sank. Nine other crew members and six guests were rescued.

Dua Lipa surprises fans with Jamiroquai frontman during London show
Pop star Dua Lipa returned to London with her Radical Optimism tour, kicking off the first night at Wembley Stadium with a surprise appearance from Jamiroquai lead singer Jay Kay. Amidst a flurry of dance routines, costume changes and confetti canons, the singer made her way through her latest album, Radical Optimism, on Friday night before bringing out the 90s funk band frontman. Without missing her biggest hits, the British-Albanian songstress performed the likes of New Rules, Be The One and Barbie's Dance The Night to more than 70,000 people. Transforming the stadium into her own dance floor, the pop star kicked off her concert with Training Season before pausing to say she was "blown away," adding that it was "surreal" to be performing at Wembley. Appearing a little emotional, she said: "This is so surreal and so crazy. "It means the absolute world to me that you are here tonight. "It feels really really special to be here tonight. "It is 10 years since our first ever London show to about 350 people and I just dreamt of a night like this where I get to be in front of 70,000 people." Later, she left the stage to take photographs with fans and asked if they were having a good night, but most were too excited to form full sentences. After taking photos with the front row fans, Lipa returned to the stage to perform These Walls before introducing the song that "started everything". She said: "I want to take it back to the beginning a little bit. This song really kind of changed my life. The singer again expressed how grateful she was to be performing at Wembley, before introducing someone who really "inspired" her. Mistrial declared in the case of Dublin firefighter accused of rape in Boston
The rape trial involving Irish firefighter Terence Crosbie's in Boston was declared a mistrial this week, after the jury failed to come to a unanimous decision. Mr Crosbie was visiting Boston with the Dublin Fire Brigade to take part in the 2024 St Patrick's Day parade and is alleged to have raped a 29-year-old lawyer while his colleague slept in the same hotel room. He had pleaded not guilty. On Friday afternoon at Suffolk Superior Court, following a lengthy deliberation, the jury sent a note to the judge saying it was deadlocked. Superior Court Judge Sarah Weyland Ellis then issued a special legal instruction aimed at producing a verdict before ultimately declaring it a mistrial. Having been deliberating since Monday, the judge deemed it 'a good time in the day' to issue the Tuey-Rodriguez charge. During Thursday's proceedings, the court heard how the DNA of the Dublin firefighter was not conclusively identified on the woman he was accused of raping. Pic: Omni Parker House Two DNA experts took to the stand on the fourth day of the rape trial stating that the 39-year-old's genetic material was not found on his alleged victim when she went to hospital, according to reports in the Boston Globe. 'Your testing did not identify Terence Crosbie on the genital swab?' defence attorney Patrick Garrity asked an expert on DNA analysis, the Boston Globe said. The DNA analyst replied: 'It did not identify that individual on the genital swab, correct.' On Friday afternoon at Suffolk Superior Court, following a lengthy deliberation, the jury sent a note to the judge saying it was deadlocked. The analyst, Alexis DeCesaris, testified that while DNA from two males was found in the woman's genital swab, the amount was too small to compare to a person's genetic profile. During her testimony, the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stated that she had met Mr Crosbie's fellow firefighter Liam O'Brien at an Irish bar on March 14, 2024. She alleged that after returning to Mr O'Brien's hotel room at the Omni Parker House hotel she had consensual sex with Mr O'Brien. She stated this week to the jury of nine men and six women that she went to the other bed in the room because of Mr O'Brien's loud snoring and got under the covers naked, unaware that he was sharing the room with Mr Crosbie, who was not present at the time. 'I woke up, and a guy was inside of me,' the woman testified, tears streaming down her face as she read a text message she sent to a friend shortly after the alleged attack. The woman stated that she believed it was not Mr O'Brien because he was bald and the person on top of her was not. She later attended Massachusetts General Hospital in the early hours of the next morning. A nurse who treated the woman and completed an 'evidence collection kit,' as well as a doctor involved in the treatment, testified to a 'tear' in the woman's vaginal area, but said that it was possible that this could have happened as a result of consensual sex, the Globe reported.
