RCMP destroy suspicious device found at northern Manitoba school dorm
Manitoba RCMP say they've destroyed a suspicious device that was found at a dorm in northern Manitoba.
The device was found Monday morning at Frontier Collegiate in Cranberry Portage.
The community, near Flin Flon, was evacuated due to wildfires, so no students were at the school, but the device — which police say looked like a pipe bomb — was noticed by staff who were preparing for students' return.

RCMP said they took the device to a remote spot and destroyed it. It turned out not to have explosive materials inside, but police say they're still investigating.

Mounties say 'recent developments' led to the arrest and charging of Stan Cross, 49, on Friday. He is due in court on Tuesday in Wetaskiwin. 'Our Alberta RCMP Historical Homicide Unit is a team of dedicated and meticulous investigators who are working for those who can no longer speak for themselves,' said Insp. Breanne Brown in a statement. 'The Alberta RCMP does not stop investigating in these circumstances and our team continues to work to bring Twyla home. I can assure you that our investigators pour their hearts into these investigations and are committed to providing answers to victim's families regardless of how much time has passed.'

RCMP searching for missing mother and daughter who may be in Manitoba

Mounties believe they could be in the Brandon, Man. area. Angela Kennedy, 27, was last seen at approximately 2:26 p.m. on June 20, walking east on Hwy 1 near Indian Head, Sask. with her daughter. RCMP said the child has 'complex medical needs,' and police are concerned for their well-being. Kennedy is described as five-foot-eight in height, 200 pounds, with blue eyes and blonde hair. She has tattoos of teacups and a rose on her left arm, and a full-sleeve tattoo on her right arm. RCMP said she was last seen wearing a blue dress. Kennedy is known to travel to Moosomin, Sask. and Brandon. Anyone with information on Kennedy's whereabouts is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Missing Sask. woman, 1-year-old daughter may be in southwestern Manitoba: RCMP
A 27-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter are missing after they were last seen walking along Highway 1 near Indian Head, Sask., on Friday, and police in Manitoba and Saskatchewan are now asking for help to find them. Angela Kennedy and her daughter, Ivey Anhalt, were seen walking east on the highway just before 2:30 p.m. on Friday, a Saturday news release from Saskatchewan RCMP said. RCMP believe the two may have been heading to either Brandon, Man., or Moosomin, Sask., both near the provincial border — two places they are known to travel to, RCMP said. Kennedy is described as five feet eight inches tall and 200 pounds, with blue eyes and blond hair. She has a full-sleeve tattoo on her right arm and a tattoo with a rose and teacups on her left. She was least seen wearing a blue dress. Police said Ivey has complex medical needs and officials are concerned for her well-being.
