World's most expensive train: How far can you think and imagine luxury and opulence can go? Ultra, mega, or super and beyond. There are a few things that are more mechanical, controlled by motors and physics from the inside but are pure artistry from the outside. They are capable of giving jolts to even the most seasoned connoisseurs of luxuriousness. For example, the entity we are going to talk about here is one such product that is more about metal as it uses its wheels to run on tracks.
It is the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (VSOE), a private luxury train service from London to Venice and other European cities. It is currently owned by Belmond. It was established in 1982 by James Sherwood of Kentucky, United States. On 25 May 1982, the first London–Venice run was made.
The Venice Simplon Orient Express is perhaps the most famous luxury train in the world that features restored coaches from the 1920s, with marble-clad ensuite bathrooms, 24-hour butler service and free-flowing champagne. This train goes to major European cities like London, Paris, Venice, Prague, Budapest, and Vienna. The cost per trip is Rs 4,06,479.54.
But there is one train that is much ahead of the Venice Simplon Orient Express and that is India's Maharajas Express which is a luxury tourist train owned and operated by The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
The most expensive ticket on the Maharaja Express is for the Presidential Suite, which is about Rs 21,01,619.51 per trip. It offers luxurious amenities, beautiful decor, and stunning views of historic and natural destinations. The duration of one trip is 6 nights, offering a luxurious experience with private butlers, Michelin-star dining, and palace-like suites. Maharajas Express operates different itineraries from October to April of which two are short-term Golden Triangle (Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra) tours and the others are week-long Pan-India voyages.
Maharajas' Express gives its passengers an authentic feel and essence of royalty. It was voted 'The World's Leading Luxury Train' seven times in a row at The World Travel Awards from 2012 through 2018. Maharajas' Express also received recognition from the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Travel Award in 2022.
Maharajas' Express offers a vivid glimpse of heritage, legacy, comfort, luxury and extravagant indulgence making your journey an amazing experience. The air-conditioned ambient provides full comfort. Suites with attached bathrooms that are Wi-Fi-enabled so that you have your personal space for hygienic purposes and making sure that you are never out of touch. There are separate cars with astonishing restaurants and bars and carriages that are inspired by the royal lifestyle.
Maharajas' Express makes sure you get an unforgettable experience. With accommodation options ranging from deluxe to presidential suites, the train offers a lounge, a bar, and two restaurants—Rang Mahal and Mayur Mahal, with a hand-painted fresco ceiling.

Gorakhpur to Patliputra in just 7 hours as PM Modi flags off new Vande Bharat train

Patna (Bihar) [India], June 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off a new Vande Bharat Express through video conferencing from Siwan, connecting Patliputra Junction in Patna to Gorakhpur Junction in Uttar Pradesh. The train offers a new, fast, safe and convenient travel option between eastern Uttar Pradesh and northern Bihar. It will run six days a week (except Saturdays). Departing Gorakhpur at 5:40 AM, the train will reach Patliputra by 12:45 PM, and in the return direction, it will depart Patliputra at 3:30 PM and arrive in Gorakhpur by 10:30 PM. The Vande Bharat Express has a semi-high-speed capability which significantly reduces travel time. The Gorakhpur to Patliputra journey, which earlier took 10 to 12 hours, can now be completed in just 7 hours. As per the Indian Railway, the route of this train includes stations in Uttar Pradesh -- Gorakhpur, Kaptanganj and Paniyahwa -- and in Bihar -- Bagaha, Narkatiaganj, Bettiah, Sagauli, Bapudham Motihari, Muzaffarpur, Hajipur and Patliputra. This train is a strong example of Prime Minister Modi's commitment to the 'development of Eastern India,' working to bring previously neglected areas into the mainstream. The train features air-conditioned coaches, automatic doors, bio-toilets, a GPS information system, onboard catering, Wi-Fi, and CCTV security. PM Modi also flagged off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowra Plant, for export to the Republic of Guinea, under the 'Make in India' initiative plant became the first export locomotive manufactured in this factory. They are equipped with high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion systems, microprocessor-based control systems, and ergonomic cab designs, incorporating technologies like regenerative braking. To boost railway infrastructure in the region, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new Vaishali-Deoria railway line project, worth over Rs 400 crore, and flagged off a new train service on this route. US Man Pays Rs 80,000 For Disneyland "Princess Breakfast", Internet Stunned

A man recently shared his utter shock over the exorbitant bill he received after attending Disneyland's Princess Breakfast Adventures in California, US. Taking to X, John Tolkien shared a photo of his receipt from his family's breakfast. The bill showed an eye-watering sum of $937.65 (approximately Rs 80,000), which included a $150 tip. "Princess Breakfast' at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee," he captioned the post. Elsewhere in the thread, he clarified that the breakfast was for five people. He also claimed that he hadn't looked at the $142 (around Rs 12,000) price tag per person before booking. "Before seeing the bill I thought it would be about half this," Mr Tolkien wrote, noting that the total included the five members of his family, plus a single alcoholic beverage. 'Princess Breakfast' at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee — John 'Rock & Roll' Tolkien (@jrockandrollt) June 16, 2025 According to The Independent, the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures, which is held at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, features three courses, including an appetiser tower of mini lobster rolls and various breads, an array of main courses for adults to choose from, and princess-inspired desserts. Children can also choose chicken and Mickey waffles, or macaroni and cheese with bacon for their main course. The price of the meal starts at $142 for adults and children ages 3 to 9, per the site, and top and tax is not included. Sharing his experience, Mr Tolkien said, "It was fun, the food was probably 7 / 10, service was attentive and enthusiastic, princesses were all trained pro actresses and spent a lot of time with the kids. I enjoyed it." he also shared a photo of his plate, admitting that the "breakfast was good". "Kids enjoyed it, so I think it was worth it. The kids definitely learned some new words when I opened the bill though.," he continued. Mr Tolkien's post quickly caught the internet's attention, with social media users sharing various reactions. Several users believed that the outrage was misplaced, as the prices are disclosed during bookings. Others took issue with the $150 tip, saying that the tipping norms have become excessive. "They are pretty clear at the Grand California about the cost of that per guest and it takes months to get a reservation," wrote one user. "Bro they tell you the price when you book, if you're surprised that's on you," commented another. "I got a 155 dollar tip on Sunday and I still think tips should scale down slightly as the bill gets higher. At some point you're paying too much money for the service when the service isn't any different than if you had a 300 dollar meal," wrote a third user. "Would've been less had you not tipped 21ish percent. Especially since those people aren't normal wiaters and waitresses I can assume they aren't making minimum wage at a Disney restaurant," said another.
