CM to launch the pink bus services in six cities today

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar will flag off the first batch of 20 pink buses of
(BSRTC), meant for women, at a function to be held on 1 Anne Marg in Patna on Friday.
With the aim of improving safety and accessibility for women commuters, eight CNG (compressed natural gas)-powered pink buses will roll out in Patna, four in Muzaffarpur, and two each in Gaya, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur and Purnia, said the BSRTC officials.

In Patna, the new buses will initially ply on four routes — from Gandhi Maidan to AIIMS-Patna in Phulwarisharif, Danapur and Kurji (via Boring Road), and NIT-More to Kankarbagh autorickshaw stand.
According to the officials, the minimum fare will be Rs 6 and maximum Rs 35 for one-way journey. Various payment options like prepaid cards, and monthly and student passes are available. Initially, the driver in the buses will be men, while the conductor will be women.
"We will train women drivers as well," an official said.
The 22-seater buses will be equipped with modern safety features, including CCTV cameras, GPS tracking systems, panic buttons, speed governor, fire extinguisher and first-aid kit, besides mobile charging port near all seats. The real-time location of the buses can be seen on 'Chalo', a mobile application.
Transport minister Sheela Kumari said that the pink bus service will serve as a significant step towards social empowerment.
"It will boost women's confidence. In the future, the pink bus service will be expanded to other cities," she said. Eighty more pink buses are already in the pipeline.
Transport secretary Sandeep Kumar R Pudakalkatti said that the pink bus service is specifically for working women and students to provide them with a sense of safety during travel.
Women can spot the pink buses from a distance due to their distinctive colour.

Punaura Dham temple design finalised, says Nitish Kumar

PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday announced that the designs for the holistic development of the Jagat Janani Maa Janki temple at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi had been finalised and a dedicated trust had also been formed to expedite the construction work for the development of the temple. The chief minister also posted pictures of the design concepts of the temple and its surroundings. (X/NitishKumar) On social media platform X, the CM posted: 'I am very happy to inform you that the design of the grand temple and other structures for the holistic development of Jagat Janani Maa Janaki's birthplace, Punaura Dham, Sitamarhi, is now ready, which is being shared with you. A trust has also been formed for this so that the construction work can be expedited.' The chief minister also posted pictures of the design concepts of the temple and its surroundings. The temple holds immense religious and cultural significance as it is widely believed to be the birthplace of goddess Sita, also known as Janaki, a central figure in the Hindu epic Ramayana. The temple, often referred to as Janaki Janmasthan temple, is a sacred site for Hindus, attracting devotees who revere Sita as an embodiment of purity, devotion and strength. Officials said the site was being developed to enhance its status as a religious tourism hub, with plans for a grand temple modelled after the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, emphasising its national and spiritual prominence. The new design plans include a 151-foot-tall structure, wide walkways, and ample green cover, making it ideal for devotees to visit and pay homage to Goddess Sita. On December 24 last year, the state cabinet had sanctioned ₹ 120.58 crore for acquisition of over 50 acre land around the existing temple at Punaura Dham for building the grand temple and developing it as a major tourist destination. According to tourism department officials, the temple would also contain other attractions, like a lake which is believed to help with pregnancy, and Panth Pakar, associated with Sita's marriage. The road construction department has already undertaken a project to establish a road connection between Ayodhya's Ram Mandir and Maa Janaki temple, known as Ram-Janaki Marg. In September last year, the Bihar CM had urged PM Modi to expedite the construction of the connection. The CM also asked for a Vande Bharat connection to be started between the two cities. The temple is a symbol of Bihar's rich cultural and spiritual heritage, connecting devotees to the Ramayana narrative. The construction of the Punauradham temple, officials said, was being supervised by the Mahavir Mandir Trust, based in Patna. Building the magnificent temple of Maa Janaki is a matter of pride and fortune for all us Biharis." The state cabinet, during a recent meeting, approved the appointment of a Noida-based private firm as the design consultant for the development of the Punaura Dham temple. It is the same organisation, which was the consultant for the master plan and architectural services of the Ram temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Lakhs of pilgrims, including those from abroad, especially Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, visit Punaura Dham every year. Earlier also, the state cabinet had approved Rs 120 crore for the overall development of the temple. Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Bihar's First Double-Decker Flyover In Patna

Patna: In a major boost to Bihar's urban infrastructure, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the state's first double-decker flyover in Patna, built at a cost of Rs 422 crore. The structure, hailed as a landmark in the city's smart mobility mission, aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the capital. Constructed along Ashoka Rajpath, the multi-tier flyover introduces a three-level traffic system -- the first of its kind in Bihar. Tier 1 (Lower Deck) includes a 1.45 km stretch from Patna College to BN College. Tier 2 (Upper Deck) has a 2.2 km corridor from Kargil Chowk to Shatabdi Dwar, passing Patna Science College. Ground Level Service Road is 90 per cent complete, providing additional support for surface traffic. The flyover links key urban nodes, including the Patna Metro Rail Project and JP Ganga Path, and is expected to significantly decongest high-traffic areas such as PMCH, Science College, and Patna University. It also facilitates smoother travel for commuters from the Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Kankarbagh, and nearby areas. Integrated with broader urban development plans, the corridor connects to Bakarganj, Nala Road, multi-level parking facilities, and vital institutions, benefitting students, medical professionals, traders, and daily commuters alike. Calling it "a confluence of technology, management, and aesthetics," Nitish Kumar said the project represents Bihar's evolving identity. "This is not just a bridge, but a vision. It will transform city commuting and serve as a model for urban infrastructure across the state," he said at the inauguration. The Kargil Chowk -- Science College stretch, in particular, is expected to revolutionize mobility in central Patna, reducing travel time and improving emergency response access in the vicinity of major hospitals and colleges. This landmark project marks a significant milestone in Patna's smart city journey and reflects Bihar's growing emphasis on modern, future-ready infrastructure.
