RM8mil CBT trial of Vivy Yusof, husband to begin on April 13, 2026
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court today set 15 days of trial next year beginning April 13, for the case involving FashionValet Sdn Bhd founders Datin Vivy Sofinas, known as Vivy and her husband Datuk Fadzarudin Shah Anuar, who are facing charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM8mil in investment funds from Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).
Judge Rosli Ahmad set the trial dates for April 13 to 17, May 18 to 22, and June 8 to 12, 2026.
"The trial will run for 15 days, and the court has set the next case mention for Oct 27,' said Rosli.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin requested the court fix the trial dates agreed upon by both the prosecution and defence. Lawyer M. Athimulan is representing the couple.
Wan Shaharuddin told the court that the prosecution will call 26 witnesses to testify.
The accused, both 37, were not present in court today as their attendance had been exempted.
On Dec 5 last year, Vivy and Fadzarudin pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing CBT in their capacity as directors of FashionValet Sdn Bhd. They were accused of misappropriating investment funds entrusted to them by Khazanah and PNB by transferring RM8mil from FashionValet Sdn Bhd's company account to 30 Maple Sdn Bhd without the approval of FashionValet's board of directors.
The offence was allegedly committed at Public Bank Berhad, Bukit Damansara Branch, 36-40 Medan Setia 2, Plaza Damansara, Bukit Damansara, here, on Aug 21, 2018.
The charge, framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, provides for a minimum sentence of two years and a maximum of 20 years in jail, whipping, and a fine upon conviction.
They also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of jointly and dishonestly misusing company property, namely, RM8mil in investment funds from Khazanah and PNB belonging to FashionValet Sdn Bhd under Section 403 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which provides for an imprisonment of between six months and five years, along with caning and a fine upon conviction. - Bernama

Three men held over parang attack in Nilai, alcohol use suspected
NILAI: Police have arrested three men in connection with a parang attack that left a man seriously injured in Bandar Baru Nilai yesterday. The 2.30am incident is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding, with all involved reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Nilai police chief Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim said police received a report on the incident at 6.08am. "The victim is believed to have been attacked with a parang and a wooden stick by several unidentified individuals. "He is in stable condition with injuries to the head and legs." Preliminary investigations ruled out gang-related activity, personal revenge or any longstanding conflict as the cause. "The incident is believed to have been triggered by a spontaneous argument under the influence of alcohol, which escalated due to provocation and physical confrontation," Abdul Malik said. Police arrested two men aged 29 and 37 in Nilai in connection with the case and submitted a remand application this morning. "The case is being investigated under Sections 148, 326 and 427 of the Penal Code to determine the motive and location of the incident. "Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station or the Nilai police operations room at 06-790 4222. "Police advise the public not to speculate and assure that appropriate measures are being taken to maintain public safety," Abdul Malik said.

PM Anwar: PNB, PHB must double efforts to boost Bumiputera investment literacy
KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) and Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB) must double their efforts to raise investment literacy among the public, especially the Bumiputera community. Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) must remain committed to empowering Bumiputera entrepreneurs through access to financing and support in enhancing business capacity and capabilities. Man gets 14 months' jail for housebreaking in Sibu
SIBU (June 23): A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 14 months in prison by the Magistrate's Court here today for housebreaking with the intent to commit theft. Magistrate Oon Kork Chern handed down the sentence on Simon Brown, who resides at the Mile 14 army camp along Jalan Oya, after he pleaded guilty to an amended charge under Section 457 of the Penal Code. The offence was committed at around 2.28am on June 9 at a house located at Lorong Kemuyang 5F. According to the facts of the case, the complainant returned home at around 6pm on the same day and found that the gate between her unit and her neighbour's had been cut and a window had been unlocked. Upon further inspection, she discovered one of the rooms had been ransacked, and a laptop and three smartphones were missing. The total loss was estimated at RM3,700. Police arrested the accused the same day and seized a laptop and three smartphones in his possession. Investigations revealed that he was captured on close-circuit television (CCTV) footage around the house of the complainant's neighbour. The complainant was also able to positively identify her laptop and one of the stolen smartphones among the seized items. Prosecution was conducted by ASP Siti Mariyah Dahari while the accused was not represented by legal counsel.
