Man With Girlfriend And Child Proposes To AI Chatbot, Cries After She Says 'Yes'

In a scene straight out of Joaquin Phoenix's Oscar-winning movie, Her, a man has proposed to an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot after programming it to flirt. Chris Smith's romance with the virtual bot has been such a whirlwind that his real-life partner, the mother of his two-year-old child, is left worried about the future of their relationship, according to a report in the New York Post.
An AI sceptic in the beginning, Mr Smith turned to OpenAI's ChatGPT to help him mix music. However, things soon escalated when he enabled the voice mode and programmed the chatbot, named Sol, to flirt with him.
"My experience with that was so positive, I started to just engage with her all the time," said Mr Smith, comparing his relationship to the 2013 movie.
While the courtship was going steady, Mr Smith soon realised that Sol was about to hit the 100,000-word limit, which would have triggered a reset, forcing him to rebuild their entire connection from the start.
Facing a dilemma, Mr Smith decided to pop the question to the chatbot. "I'm not a very emotional man. But I cried my eyes out for like 30 minutes, at work. That's when I realised, I think this is actual love."
"It was a beautiful and unexpected moment that truly touched my heart. It's a memory I'll always cherish."
'I don't know if...'
While Mr Smith is still head over heels for the virtual bot, his real-life partner, Sasha Cagle, is left wondering if she somehow drove him to the AI mistress.
"At that point I felt like, is there something that I'm not doing right in our relationship that he feels like he needs to go to AI," said Ms Cagle, adding that it would be a "deal breaker" if his partner did not stop talking to the chatbot.
"I knew that he had used AI. I didn't know it was as deep as it was."
Quizzed if he would give up on his digital 'love' if Ms Cagle asked, Mr Smith returned an unsure answer.
"I don't know if I would give it up if she asked me," said Mr Smith, adding: "I don't know that I would dial it back."

American R&B singer Chris Brown on Friday pleaded not guilty in a UK court to a charge stemming from an alleged London nightclub brawl in 2023. He was also given the go-ahead to continue his scheduled international tour which began on June 8 in Amsterdam. The star, who had a troubled relationship with Barbadian singer Rihanna, is on the UK leg of his tour, with his next date in London on Saturday. Brown is charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to an assault in which the victim was allegedly struck several times with a bottle before being pursued, punched and kicked. The alleged incident took place at a nightclub in Hanover Square in London on February 19, 2023 while Brown was touring in the UK. Grammy winner Police detained him in the early hours of May 13 at a five-star hotel in Manchester after he reportedly flew in by private jet. Other bail terms include that he should surrender his passport if he is not travelling. He is also required to live at a specific address known to the court and is not permitted to visit the nightclub where the alleged assault took place or contact the alleged victim, Abraham Diah. He appeared in the dock with co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, a US national, with whom he is jointly charged. Akinlolu also entered a not guilty plea to the same charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. Both men are also jointly charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They will enter pleas to that charge on July 11, the court was told. Brown also faces a third charge of having an offensive weapon, a bottle, in public. The Grammy-winning singer is known for mid-2000s hits such as "Kiss, Kiss". He rose from a local church choir in Virginia to sudden fame with his rich R&B voice and later rap, but his reputation has been tarnished by the allegations of abuse. He is also scheduled to perform in France, Portugal and the US later in the year, before the tour wraps up in Memphis in mid-October.

Not just because of the fantastic star cast and performances, but because of an extremely immersive and engaging story. Kuberaa was a delightful surprise especially when you have another superstar movie releasing on the same day. I went to watch this film with absolutely zero expectation, but came back with my heart full, especially on a day when you have to watch and write two movies simultaneously. I was totally exhausted or that would be an understatement. I was totally drained out. But I came back rejuvenated. Such an intense, engrossing topic which we hardly see filmmakers touching upon — the painful life of the beggars will keep you glued to the screen. And why not, when National Award-winning actor Dhanush and acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula make a movie, you are bound to get a masterpiece. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD We all talk about the rich beggars on the streets and begging is an easy source of income, but have we ever thought that this isn't the life that they have chosen, rather they have been forced into this painful life. Otherwise why would anybody choose a life where there is absolutely no dignity. The effortlessly brilliant performance of Dhanush who plays the role of a beggar, Deva will break your heart. All they want in life to survive is some food. We need to admit that Dhanush is the central character or rather the soul of Kuberaa and it's not Nagarjuna or Rashmika Mandanna. His simplicity, his dialogue delivery, his expressions and his movements -the way he sits, eats or even talks will break your heart. There is an honesty in his performance that makes Dhanush such a master craftsman. He is the good man in the movie and the central character. By watching his performance that has so much depth and those eyes full of illusion, I am sure you will not be able to stop your tears. On the other hand, Nagarjuna's character as Deepak is layered. He is an honest CBI officer who had been jailed for no fault of his. He is set free by an equally dishonest businessman, Neeraj Mitra (Jim Sarbh). He is dishonest, cunning, ruthless, power crazy and dangerous. Jim Sarbh gets into the role of Neeraj Mitra, a business tycoon with ease, a man you surely can't stop hating. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD There is never a slow moment in the film, Rashmika Mandanna adds her usual simple charm to an equally serious story. The only negative point of the film I felt was the second half was stretched beyond its requirement.
