Tawjihi 2025 kicks off with record student turnout: Education Ministry

The Director of the Examinations and Testing Department at the Ministry of Education, Mohammad Shehadeh, confirmed that the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) for the year 2025 officially began on Thursday, with an unprecedented number of students participating. Speaking to Roya, Shehadeh stated that the ministry had completed all technical and logistical preparations, including equipping exam halls with stationery, calculators, and instructional signage, in addition to creating a safe and comfortable exam environment for all students. He noted that 42 operations rooms have been established across central and field locations, operating around the clock to monitor exam proceedings and provide immediate support. The ministry is also working in close coordination with the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and Civil Defense to respond quickly to any health or technical emergencies. Special arrangements have also been made for students with disabilities, including specially equipped exam halls at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) and within correctional and rehabilitation centers. Shehadeh stressed the ministry's commitment to ensuring a fair and inclusive environment for all test-takers. This year's exams mark a milestone, as they are the final round following the old system for students born in 2007. Students born in 2008 will be tested under a new system, though the question format will remain similar to previous years. Regarding grading, Shehadeh explained that over 9,000 teachers have been assigned to handle the correction process. Results are expected to be announced in the first third of August, approximately 20 to 30 days after the final exam session.

Kanaan: Jerusalem a central international issue despite escalating crises

Ammon News - Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs Secretary-General Abdullah Kanaan said Monday that the city of Jerusalem must remain a central issue on the international agenda despite escalating crises and regional and international conflicts. He told Petra in an interview that the Israeli occupation (authority) never missed an opportunity, both internally and externally, to bolster its settlement policies and impose restrictions on Jerusalem, its people and holy sites. Israel lately stepped up incursions into the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, led by extremist settlers and protected by police, at a time of rising security tensions in the region, he said. What is happening in Jerusalem is not a mere emergency, but a strategic priority for the far-right Israeli government, which requires international political and media action to expose and document violations and hold Israel accountable under international law, which recognizes Jerusalem as an occupied city, and calls for maintaining its historical status and cessation of all settlement activities and attacks on holy sites, he said. Kanaan said the Israeli-Iranian conflict and the Russian-Ukrainian war should not be overlooked by the world for their importance. In the meantime, the ongoing tragedy of the Palestinian people, i.e. the killing, displacement, and massacres, drags on amid international silence and the absence of a serious will to stop the Israeli occupation, which continues in defiance of international law, threatening the security and peace of the region and the world. He said Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the custodian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, will remain firm in supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, no matter the challenges and sacrifices. China urges Iran, Israel to 'immediately' take steps to cool tensions

Ammon News - China urged Iran and Israel to "immediately" take steps to reduce tensions on Monday after Tehran unleashed a barrage of missile strikes on Israeli cities and Israel struck military targets deep inside Iran. "We urge all parties to immediately take measures to cool down the tensions, prevent the region from falling into greater turmoil, and create conditions for returning to the right track of resolving issues through dialogue and negotiations," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said. Israel's surprise assault on Iran last week, launched after decades of enmity and a prolonged shadow war fought through proxies and covert operations, has touched off the most intense fighting yet and triggered fears of a lengthy conflict that could engulf the Middle East. Israel says its attacks have hit military and nuclear facilities and killed many top Iranian commanders and atomic scientists, although a senior US official said on Sunday that US President Donald Trump told Israel to back down from a plan to kill supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
