La Forza dominates a day after dumping rider, while Golden Sixty lands in Japan
Jamie Richards-trained speedster overcomes a trackwork mishap to return to the winners' list in style at Sha Tin on Sunday

It wasn't your typical preparation but La Forza showed no ill effects of a little Saturday trackwork mishap when storming back onto the winners' list at Sha Tin on Sunday.
After shying at something near the big screen while working on Saturday morning, La Forza dislodged his rider and galloped riderless for two laps of the small all-weather track.
'It was just unfortunate that he shied basically at the TV screen. But he didn't go too fast when he did a little quiet lap without the rider on and thankfully everything's gone nice and smoothly for him today,' said trainer Jamie Richards after La Forza strode to victory in the Class Four TVB Yan Chai Charity Show Handicap (1,000m).
Racing for the first time since May last year after suffering from shin soreness following one win from three runs in Griffin company in his debut season, La Forza pinged out of gate seven and was quickly speared over to the outside rail by Zac Purton.
After comfortably controlling proceedings from the front, La Forza dashed clear of $2.6 favourite Enjoy Golf inside the final 200m to post a two-and-a-half-length success at $7.35.
'He's a horse who was very immature last season and we backed off him. We thought we had him ready to go earlier in the season and we just had to back off him again because he was just a little bit shin sore,' said Richards.
'He was very weak last season but he's put on a lot of weight and strengthened up. I've got a good team of staff and the Conghua stable must take a bit of credit for this horse because he's spent most of his time up there.
'He's only a three-year-old but I'm hoping that he's got more ratings points in hand.'
Race five delivered a far less pleasing outcome for Richards and Purton, with debutant Autumn Vibes rearing as the gates opened before running on strongly from the back of the field to finish third as the $1.9 favourite.
Purton did go onto complete a double, saluting aboard Light Years Charm for David Eustace before his afternoon in the saddle ended when he fell from Silvery Breeze for the same trainer two races later.

Champion Hong Kong galloper Golden Sixty has finally made it to Japan, with the 10-time Group One winner greeted by snow on his arrival at Northern Horse Park in Hokkaido.
Last seen on a racetrack in April last year, Golden Sixty was officially retired in September before having to quarantine in Australia en route to Japan, where owner Stanley Chan Ka-leung, trainer Francis Lui Kin-wai and jockey Vincent Ho Chak-yiu are planning to visit him regularly. Mr Brightside started his path towards a likely trip to Hong Kong with a close defeat in Saturday's Group One CF Orr Stakes (1,400m), while there was a successful Hong Kong flavour to one of the support features at the big Caulfield meeting.
Trained by David Hayes' sons Ben, Will and JD, Mr Brightside fell narrowly short of a ninth elite-level success when he was chased down late by Another Wil first up.
While the Bullbars gelding has often been considered for trips to Hong Kong but never made it to the city, the Hayes boys have indicated the Group One Champions Mile in April is firmly on the radar for their stable star.
The training partnership claimed a maiden international Group One success earlier on Saturday when Here To Shock recorded a dominant victory in the BCD Group Sprint (1,400m) in New Zealand.
'Hopefully we can add another one with Brightside in Hong Kong eventually,' JD Hayes told Australia's Channel 7.
Angel Capital, raced by Hong Kong-based Upper Bloodstock, shot to favouritism for the Group One Australian Guineas (1,600m) with a first-up win in the Group Two Autumn Stakes (1,400m) at Caulfield.
The Harry Angel colt notched his fourth win from seven starts with a powerful return, scoring by a length and a half under jockey Ben Melham.
'He'll go straight to the [Australian] Guineas, I'd say, and then if he ran well there, we'd go to the All-Star Mile,' trainer Clinton McDonald said. 'Then we'd pull up stumps and get him ready for the spring.'
Elsewhere, Zac Purton's bid for more Australian Group One glory was scuppered when Isthmus was withdrawn from Saturday's Lightning Stakes (1,000m) at Flemington with a throat issue.
The champion Hong Kong jockey was booked for the ride by co-trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman, but Isthmus was found to have an epiglottic entrapment after a Flemington jumpout on Friday.

The Sardinian jockey has legitimate claims in the final two features of the season, with Patch Of Theta and his Group Three Premier Plate (1,800m) mount Bundle Award shaping as strong contenders. Atzeni, who sits third in the jockeys' championship with 54 wins, hops aboard Patch Of Theta for the first time as Francis Lui Kin-wai's classy five-year-old chases a second Group Three triumph this term. Victorious in the Chinese Club Challenge Cup (1,400m) in January, the Zoustar gelding put the writing on the wall with a fast-finishing third to Helios Express in the Group Three Sha Tin Vase (1,200m) last start. 'His last run was very good. If he can repeat that, he shouldn't be too far away. To be honest, I'd say I wouldn't swap the horse for anything else in the race. 'I think 1,400m is his perfect trip because he's not short of speed and he can travel strong. Sometimes 1,200m looks a little bit sharp and a mile, although he's won over it, can be a little bit far for him.' Patch Of Theta emerged as one of Lui's more progressive gallopers during his championship-winning campaign last season with four wins – all over 1,400m at Sha Tin. Since winning a Class Two mile and the Chinese Club Challenge Cup, he has been tested at a much higher level and, despite finishing well back in his two Group One starts, he was not disgraced. Atzeni highlighted another progressive Lui galloper in Packing Hermod, who shoots for a third consecutive win, and Group One victors Beauty Eternal and Invincible Sage as Patch Of Theta's major rivals on Sunday. Bundle Award drops back in trip in the Premier Plate after a solid fifth to Voyage Bubble in the Group One Champions & Chater Cup (2,400m) when making late ground from the tail of the field. The John Size-trained gelding has won three races this season, crowned by last month's Group Three Queen Mother Memorial Cup (2,400m). 'He's another good ride. He ran very well the other day in the mile-and-a-half race,' Atzeni said. 'If you take away the winner Voyage Bubble, it was a very close finish – there wasn't far between second, third, fourth and fifth. I didn't get stuck behind horses but if I got a slightly better run in the straight, I think I would have finished a lot closer. 'Back down into a Group Three handicap with a bottom weight [of 115lb], I know he's dropping back to 1,800m but he won over it before he went on to run in the Derby. 'It's a competitive race, but with the weight difference I think he's definitely well in.' 'Blazing Wukong is a really nice horse. He trialled the other day and looked like he's sharpened up from his first run,' Atzeni said. 'It looks like a nice race, but I do like my horse and I think whatever he does this season, he's going to be a much better horse for next year. 'South Star is another horse I like a lot. It's a very good race with some young horses who could be pretty smart next season taking each other on.'

Matthew Poon gets chance on Packing Hermod: ‘Everybody thought Manfred's horse was going to run'
Jockey Matthew Poon Ming-fai will get his chance aboard the in-form Packing Hermod in Sunday's Group Three Premier Cup (1,400m) – something trainer Francis Lui Kin-wai has put down to the absence of the Manfred Man Ka-leung-trained Lucky Sweynesse. While Packing Hermod will carry 126lb in the Premier Cup, the presence of the 127-rated Lucky Sweynesse would have seen the four-year-old assigned the minimum weight of 115lb. 'Everybody thought Manfred Man's horse was going to run, so everybody thought the other horses would be carrying a light weight. We picked the jockey early and I think that's why Zac [Purton] didn't pick this horse,' said Lui. It was Purton in the saddle for Packing Hermod's last-start course-and-distance victory in Class Two, while Joao Moreira did the steering when the son of Rubick saluted in similar style two starts ago. That pair of successes has driven Packing Hermod to a rating of 107 and improved his record to six wins from 10 starts, with Lui confident now is the time to throw his charge into Group company for the first time. 'This horse keeps improving and I think next season he will be even better again,' said Lui of Packing Hermod, who Poon will partner out of barrier seven. Fresh after a few days holidaying on the mainland, Lui is preparing for a busy Sunday at Sha Tin and the veteran handler boasts a third of the Premier Cup field. Copartner Prance and Patch Of Theta complete the trainer's hand in the season's penultimate Group contest, with Patch Of Theta looking to repeat his success in January's Group Three Chinese Club Challenge Cup (1,400m). Rated 98 when carrying 115lb from outside the handicap in that triumph, Patch Of Theta now finds himself lugging 128lb off a mark of 109. 'I think the 1,400m is good for him and I just hope the pace is fast enough for him to travel. A lot will depend on the race situation,' said Lui. Rounding out the Premier Cup field are Victor The Winner, Invincible Sage, Happy Together, reigning champion Mugen and Taj Dragon. Lui is also well represented in Sunday's other Group Three, the Premier Plate (1,800m), but neither Hong Kong Derby hero Cap Ferrat or Chancheng Glory had much luck with the barrier gods. Dropping significantly in distance after running third behind Voyage Bubble in last month's Group One Champions & Chater Cup (2,400m), Cap Ferrat and rider Hugh Bowman must contend with gate nine and Lui is approaching the race with uncertainty. 'It's hard to say how he will go but I'm a little bit worried about the draw,' said the trainer. A half-length second behind Pray For Mir in the recent Lion Rock Trophy, Chancheng Glory jumps from gate 12 under Luke Ferraris.

Frankie Lor backs brilliance of Purton: ‘Zac always rides this horse better than the other jockeys'
Frankie Lor Fu-chuen is backing the brilliance of Zac Purton to be the difference when Bottomuptogether tackles Saturday's Class Two HKU Business School And Faculty Of Engineering Handicap (1,200m) at Sha Tin. Bottomuptogether has compiled a strong record over 1,200m on the Sha Tin turf this season without actually winning, racing at the course and distance five times for four seconds and a third. A galloper who likes to race on pace, Bottomuptogether will have to overcome barrier 10 of 11 if he is to add to his wins under Purton at Happy Valley and on the Sha Tin dirt this season. 'This time he has drawn 10, which is a little bit awkward because inside him he has some horses who are quite fast,' said Lor. 'It will depend on how he jumps. If he jumps better than the others maybe he can lead, but if someone goes crazy in front maybe he can take a sit. Zac always rides this horse better than the other jockeys, so I'll just leave it to him.' Bottomuptogether must carry 133lb in a hot Class Two contest featuring the likes of Raging Blizzard, Wunderbar and Gorgeous Win. After three Sha Tin turf wins under Purton to begin his career last season – two at 1,000m and one at 1,200m – saw Bottomuptogether's rating jump 27 points to 79, the four-year-old has pushed onto triple figures this campaign. While Lor feels it's been a slow burn for the son of Shamus Award, he hopes the 102-rated speedster has Group racing in his future. 'I hope so, because he's a horse who has improved slowly, slowly. He just gets a little bit better each time. He's still young, he's only four years old, so I hope next season we can try for Group Races,' said Lor, pointing to the fact Bottomuptogether's full-brother and stablemate, Beauty Live, has won at a mile in Class Two. Also among Lor's eight-strong Sha Tin hand is Fun N Fun Together, a last-start winner who will also carry 133lb under Purton. Drawn gate five for the Class Four HKU Faculties Of Dentistry And Social Sciences Handicap (1,200m) on the all-weather track, Fun N Fun Together is another who likes to set the tone from the front. 'If he can lead by himself he is better. We have drawn five and I hope he can do the same – just jump and roll in front. He's in good form,' Lor said of his four-year-old. Sitting on 44 successes for the campaign – two behind last season's haul – Lor also saddles up Money Tycoon, Dreaming Winner, Musang King, Lucky Archangel, Money Catcher and Victory Moments.
