If there's nothing to see, why are we talking about her? Because there happened to be a large fire and a jailbreak in New Orleans while 'one of the most infamous dolls on the planet' was in town. Reports of Annabelle going missing and causing 'local disasters' while on tour in May have been proliferating online. Chicago was bracing itself last week after rumours she was coming for them next.
Hang on, hang on. 'Infamous'? 'Disasters'? Explain yourself. Annabelle is haunted, probably cursed. Given to a Connecticut nurse in 1970, she soon started moving around, leaving notes and inflicting 'psychic slashes' on visitors.
Passive-aggressive, huh? I've had roommates like that. Well, the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren concluded Annabelle was demonically possessed and removed her to their museum. 'Allegedly linked to decades of deaths and grisly paranormal activity,' according to NBC, she has subsequently inspired three films in The Conjuring horror franchise (Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation and Annabelle Comes Home).
I like the 'allegedly' there, as if she may be litigious. Look at her: she'd absolutely take you to the cleaners.
So this Annabelle doll recently went walkabout and bad stuff happened? According to the New England Society for Psychic Research, who organised her tour (called Devils on the Run), Annabelle did not go missing in New Orleans, and she was never in Chicago at all. 'That doll was never out of our sight, never out of our control,' her handler, Tony Spera, confirmed. She remained in her case, which is 'usually secured by crosses and holy water'.
It's fake news, then? Or possibly viral marketing, but social media users aren't buying it. 'Ed and Lorraine told y'all to keep her locked up,' one wrote on the Facebook page for Ghost City Tours, which hosted Annabelle in New Orleans. 'Nobody listened. Look at the aftermath.' TikTok users freaked out at the idea she was missing, and questioned why Annabelle was 'on tour' at all: 'Is she about to drop her first single, I love Satan and killing babies???'
This is just silly, isn't it? Haunted dolls aren't real. Ebay users would beg to differ: there's a buoyant market for them, everything from 'positive, beginner-friendly' Gemma to Vicky, 'a particularly horrid spirit' who hides the TV remote and 'doesn't like men at all'.
Again, I've had roommates like that. There are other celebrity haunted dolls, too: sailor-suited Robert, who lives in Florida and inflicts 'post-visit misfortunes' on disrespectful guests; and Okiku, who is possessed by a dead child and has hair that keeps growing. But Annabelle is the most powerful and we should respect her.

'Our daughter Hope was lined up with John and myself execution style. We were all together in our entryway in a row with our hands up,' she wrote. 'She may not have gotten shot because of all the commotion but she was front and center WITH us. After we were incapacitated, she knew to go lock the door and call police and inform them senator Hoffman and mom were shot. Where are the attempted murder charges regarding my daughter? Where?' Boelter has only been charged with two counts of second-degree murder for the slayings of Democratic State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and two of attempted murder for Yvette and John. The enraged mother went on to mention that Hope even had to stress that her father was a senator several times to the 911 dispatcher that dreadful morning. 'If Hope hadn't intentionally said SENATOR Hoffman the 4 times I remember her saying it to 911 dispatchers. More people would have been slaughtered,' Yvette said. Yvette shared startling new details about the horrific scene in a Facebook post Sunday Roughly 90 minutes after the Hoffmans were targeted, the gunman made his way to the Hortman's Brooklyn Park home - about eight miles from the first incident. According to Yvette, Hope was 'the reason officers knew to go to Hortman,' she wrote. They were tragically killed after Boelter allegedly opened fire on them in their home around 3am. Police encountered the gunman fleeing Hortman's residence around 3.35am and exchanged gunfire with him. Officers then let the suspect slip through the cracks as he escaped the scene on foot, according to authorities. Shortly after the unspeakable slayings, Boelter, a former appointee of Governor Walz, was sought by authorities. He surrendered to officers on June 15 after they located him in the woods near his home, bringing an end to a massive, nearly two-day search that put the entire state on edge. He was arrested and booked into Hennepin County custody on state charges. Acting US Attorney Joseph Thompson announced six new federal charges against Boelter for murder, stalking, and shooting offenses - while revealing that he went to two other lawmakers' homes with the intent to kill them that day. He is accused of posing as a police officer during the shootings. Boelter is also said to have worn a terrifying Halloween-style face mask during the attacks. Both Yvette and the senator were left injured. She was released Friday while her husband remains in the hospital in serious but stable condition. Jenny Boelter, the alleged gunman's wife, was stopped by authorities at a convenience store while driving a car with the couple's children inside and found with a weapon, ammunition, cash and passports just hours after the shootings. Jenny, the president of the couple's private security firm, consented to a voluntary search of her electronic devices but wasn't arrested during the 10am traffic stop. According to an FBI affidavit obtained by WCCO, Boelter's wife told the investigator they were 'preppers,' meaning they 'prepare for major or catastrophic incidents.' Mystery as huge $2.1M sculptures vanish from LA warehouse
A sophisticated art heist left a profound sculptor in shock when he discovered two enormous pieces were swiped from his warehouse. Sir Daniel Winn's two prized sculptures, Quantum Mechanics: Homme, and Icarus Within, were stolen from a warehouse in Anaheim Hills, California, on or around June 14. The massive sculptures were crafted with bronze and stainless steel. Icarus Within weighs a ton and stands at eight feet tall. The piece is valued at $350,000, while Quantum Mechanics is worth a massive $1.8 million. Winn told the Los Angeles Times that moving the sculptures for exhibitions requires a massive operation including a forklift, a dozen men, and a truck. 'I have no idea where these sculptures are,' Sutter told the LA Times. 'They could be in somebody's house or in a shipping container somewhere. That's what we're trying to find out.' The thieves left other artwork and valuables in the warehouse. Winn is known as a 'blue-chip artist,' meaning he is internationally recognized and his work sells for high values. The artist came to the US as a child refugee fleeing the Vietnam War. He studied medicine at the University of California in Irvine, before deciding to pursue art. Winn is also the Board Chairman of The Academy of Fine Art Foundation and was knighted in 2018 for his non-profit work. He describes his art as Existential Surrealism, exploring themes related to his upbringing as a refugee. One of the sculptures stolen, Home, was featured in the film Creation in 2022 and was the only unsold work in his Quantum Mechanics series. Winn was gutted that his work was stolen and is now concerned the sculptures will be sold on the black market. 'These are my children. I have no physical, organic children. Every artwork I create is my child,' he told the LA Times.
