Hakim Danish targets KWASN grant with strong season start
SEPANG: Young national rider, Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli, needs to take up the challenge of achieving as many positive results as possible this season to unlock the 'key' to the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN) grant from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).
SIC chief executive officer, Azhan Shafriman Hanif said the Terengganu-born rider's career path certainly requires a lot of funds and his team is also working on this matter, including promoting him to the wild card slot in the MotoGP competition.
'It's still early days for the Rookies Cup race, he's only just finished the first round of the race with a double podium finish, so we hope he can maintain his positive momentum until the end of the year.
'SIC will also try to find funds to enter him in the MotoGP in Sepang as a wild card rider,' he said after being met at the Malaysia Touring Car Championship press conference at SIC here today.
Azhan Shafriman revealed that SIC has received approximately RM4 million in funds, but it is still not enough to cover the rider's needs to compete in the championship he is participating in.
SIC is also working on funds to cover the needs of another talented rider, Qabil Irfan Azlan.
Previously, Minister of Youth and Sports Hannah Yeoh announced that Danish Hakim will have the opportunity to enjoy the grant facility as support for his career journey if he achieves positive results in the two championships he will be participating this season.
The Junior GP World Championship and MotoGP Rookies Cup are the arenas for the 17-year-old rider, who is under the management of SIC.

RTG to Help Pro Shuttlers Find Better Training Venues
THE ROAD to Gold (RTG) Committee will help professional badminton players under its programme find more conducive training venues, said Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh. She said the RTG Committee is aware that these players are currently training in halls which are also open to the public. 'I hope we can help find more suitable and private training locations for professional athletes (badminton players). Meanwhile, Hannah expressed hope that the contract issue involving national women's doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, whose deal with the Badminton Association of Malaysia ended last December, can be resolved promptly. She stressed the importance of settling the matter quickly, as any delay could affect the performance of the world number three pair. On a separate matter, Hannah said KBS will not interfere in the internal issues or challenges faced by the Harimau Malaya squad in their push to climb higher on the international stage. KBS empowering ILKBS trainers with AI
THE Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has taken a step forward in strengthening the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme by training instructors from the Youth and Sports Skills Training Institutes (ILKBS) to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said the two-day AI training, which began yesterday, was carried out in collaboration with the government and private companies — Microsoft and Biji-Biji Initiative dan Mereka Academy — without involving any costs. 'So these ILKBS instructors will be the ones teaching our TVET students to learn new things. 'Through this project, it was also found that instructors saved over 88.9 per cent of their time in preparing teaching materials using AI, such as lesson plans and quizzes,' she told reporters after meeting participants of the Microsoft AI For My Future programme here today. Hannah said participants also shared that preparing teaching materials has become significantly easier — where it used to take two weeks, it now only takes a few minutes to complete. As part of long-term planning, she said KBS also aims to expand the initiative to the sports sector and athlete development, including former national athletes, through collaboration with the National Athletes Welfare Foundation (YAKEB), to give them an opportunity to learn new skills. 'We have a lot of senior citizens and former athletes who are retired but can't really move; they are at home. 'And through initiatives like that, if we can reach out to all of them online and teach them this new skill, I am sure with their knowledge as a former athlete, maybe something good can come out of this,' she said. A total of 147 instructors participated in the two-day training physically and online. So far, 287 ILKBS instructors have benefited from the three previous training series conducted. Hannah added that through this initiative, over 30,000 students are expected to benefit directly from the effort.
