Matthew Lillard wants to be known as more than Shaggy from Scooby Doo.
The 55-year-old actor - who has been married to Heather Helm since 2000 and has Addison, 22, Macey, 20, as well as 17-year-old Liam with her - starred as a member of the famed mystery-solving gang when the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon was made into a live-action blockbuster in 2002, but insisted that despite everything else he has done, that is the only thing his fans want to talk about.
He told ScreenRant: "I'm an entrepreneur, I've got two businesses I've started, I've started a 501(c)(3), I'm the father of a queer kid, I have two other kids, one just graduated college and was awarded this award for being the graduate of note in her art department.
"I am an eternal soccer father. I feel like there is no way to know somebody by what you see, and the reality is that I am everything else other. It's amazing, but people will come up and be like, 'Oh my God, Shaggy!' I'm like, 'No. Played Shaggy 23 years ago, 25 years ago."
Matthew is now starring as Gus Wilfong in the new sci-fi drama that tells the story of Charles Krantz's (Tom Hiddleston) life in reverse and recalled his emotional response when he saw the final cut for the first time.
He said: "For me, I cried the first time I saw it, and I was like, 'What made me cry?'
"It's not tears of endearment. Somebody's dying, or you've got this moment in The Champ, where this boy is hugging his father as he dies. You're moved to tears, and I'm not really sure why it's so emotional, but it's a movie that washes over you instead of manipulating you."
The Hollywood star added that he and his wife ended up having a lengthy conversation about what they had seen in the film.
He said: "I will tell you, the next day, my wife and I were still talking about what things meant. It's one of the things that you're sort of being enveloped by a film instead of it laying and placating you, it makes you think, it makes you engage."

Shaggy's songs came from 'higher power'
Shaggy believes his songs have been "bestowed" on him by God. The It Wasn't Me hitmaker insisted he isn't responsible for writing any of his hit tracks and he "honestly believes" the catchy tunes came to him as a way to help other people. He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "People say I wrote It Wasn't Me and my other hits but I didn't write any of them. They were bestowed on me from a higher power. "If it had come from me I would write one every week. I honestly believe these songs were given to me to help change peoples' lives. I'm just here to act as a service until I'm no longer needed." Shaggy - whose real name is Orville Burrell - is proud to be celebrating over 30 years in the music industry, particulary after he was written off as a one-hit wonder following the success of Oh Carolina in 1993. He said: "It has been quite a ride. "There's not many artists who get to have success over three decades of music. "I remember after Oh Carolina they called me the one hit wonder. "Then I did Boombastic and I was the two hit wonder and then Summertime and I was the three hit wonder. "At that point no one had seen a dancehall artist have follow-up hits. "I was the first to have multiple follow ups quickly after." The 56-year-old star previously credited taking breaks from music to do other things, such as The Little Mermaid Live! back in 2019, for his longevity because they have stopped him from "overstaying [his] welcome" in his chart career. He told E! News: "I've been lucky to have gone through this multiple times. I was lucky to go through that roller coaster ride of the fanning-out, the craziness. Everything for me is strategic. You go to your aunt's house and she's happy to see you. She's making your bed, she's cooking for you. You stay there for two weeks, [then] she's like, 'Alright, you're cooking for yourself, you need to take out the garbage.' You don't want to overstay your welcome. That's part of what's known as longevity, and this is why I'm here. "I'll take myself away from the scene, do some theatre. And then we'll come back in when the time is right. You just kind of know where you are, you look at the market—the market is always changing. The game is always changing. You always look at where your audience is."

‘Loki and Daredevil would have a fun match-up!' Tom Hiddleston eyes Marvel collab with Charlie Cox
Tom Hiddleston wants to work with Charlie Cox in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The 44-year-old actor has portrayed Loki since 2011's Thor and is set to return as the God of Mischief in Avengers: Doomsday, and Hiddleston has now revealed he wants to join forces with the Daredevil: Born Again star, 42, in a future MCU project. When Buzzfeed Celeb asked Hiddleston which Marvel actor he'd most like to collaborate with in the superhero franchise, he said: 'I've worked with a lot of them now, and that's been a great joy. It's hard to pick one, because they're all such extraordinary actors. 'I'd like to work with Daredevil. Charlie Cox is a dear friend of mine. I think Loki and Daredevil would have a fun match-up. 'Charlie and I were in a play together on Broadway on Halloween, and I dressed up as Daredevil and he dressed up as Loki. It was really fun!' Bryce Dallas Howard addresses her Jurassic World future
Bryce Dallas Howard thinks 'the door is always open' for her to return to the Jurassic World series. The 44-year-old actress starred alongside Chris Pratt as Claire Dearing in the Jurassic World trilogy from the 2015 eponymous flick until 2022's Jurassic World: Dominion, and with the franchise set for a soft reboot in July with Jurassic World: Rebirth, Howard has insisted she could come back to the series at some point in the future. Speaking with Screen Rant, she said: 'I think that the door is always open. 'It was so cool with Dominion getting to have the legacy cast back and working in the franchise. But the most important thing is that this is a story about dinosaurs and what if dinosaurs and human beings coexisted? It is not about a specific set of characters. 'So, for myself as a fan, I am so excited for Jurassic World: Rebirth. I'm going to be there in the theater opening day, and they have an amazing cast. I mean, Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey. It's going to be absolutely fantastic. So I'm excited.' In Jurassic World: Rebirth, Zora Bennett (Johansson) leads a covert team racing to stop a rogue biotech group unleashing weaponised dinosaurs across the globe. Jurassic World: Rebirth director Gareth Edwards previously teased he wanted to revitalise the Jurassic Park franchise's 'horror' elements with his film. He explained to Vanity Fair: 'Jurassic Park [the original 1993 movie] is a horror film in the witness protection program. Most people don't think of it like that. 'We all went to see it as kids. But I was scared s*******, to be honest, when I was at the cinema watching the T. rex attack. 'It's one of the most well-directed scenes in cinema history, so the bar's really high to come on board and try and do this.' The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director added: 'There's something very primal that's buried deep inside everybody. As mammals, we evolved [with] this fear of the bigger animal that's going to come one day and maybe kill us or our family. 'The second we see it happening onscreen, you're like, 'I knew it … We had it too good for too long.'' Edwards revealed he was inspired by movie franchises like Alien and Star Wars to create a scary new dinosaur for Jurassic World: Rebirth.
