McCoist names the Celtic transfer that would 'hurt' Rangers

"I want him to get fit. I really like Evan Ferguson, and I really want him to get fit and stay fit.
"He can finish. Out of all the younger ones coming through, I thought Evan Ferguson was the one to watch.
'Obviously, he's got one or two injuries going on that have held him back a bit, but if he keeps himself fit, he will score goals anywhere.
"The unfortunate thing for my mob [Rangers] is, he could come in and hurt us. Definitely.
"It wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm a big fan."
Shay Given, who spent time at Celtic as a teenager, thinks the striker would be a 'perfect' fit for the Scottish Premiership champions: "Evan just needs to find a home, if I'm being honest," he said last week.
"Be it here [at Celtic] or somewhere else. He needs someone to say, 'You're my player.'
"He went to West Ham for Graham Potter and you thought that was the perfect fit because Graham had him at Brighton. But then he didn't play so much at West Ham either.
"Michail Antonio and someone else was injured, yet they played Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus - not Ferguson. What happens next for Evan?
"I just think he needs to go, be it a loan for a season or some club buys him, and you build the team around him. I think he's a top player, I really do.
"I did some Malaysian TV recently with Bobby Zamora and he goes into Brighton once a week and coaches the strikers. Bobby said Evan was the best finisher at the club.
"Maybe because he burst onto the scene that everyone's been expecting so much so soon. But again, with young players, you need to have a bit of time.
"I just feel he's ready now to burst onto the scene for a full season with somebody. For us, with Ireland, it would be great too.
"I don't know if the finances would be to buy him, but if you said for a loan for the season, it would be perfect. But I'm not the financial power at Celtic or Newcastle, so I don't know!"

And if he leaves and gets enough playing time at his new club, he will only get better. I would put my hand in the fire for that." Clement, who handed Raskin the captain's armband for an Old Firm clash with Celtic back in January, added: "He's a character. I worked with him intensively for a year at Rangers. Nico wants to know everything, gets into discussions and has his own opinion. But if you communicate and argue clearly, there's no problem at all. "I like players with an opinion. I didn't just give him the captain's armband for nothing. That way he could grow as a footballer and take on more responsibility. ‌ "He has good feet and plays energetic football, but the most important step Nico has taken is that he has become tactically stronger. That's why he was ready for the national team - something I said six months ago. I've talked to him about it a lot. "Nico was a firefighter. You know? He often went somewhere else to put out fires and that caused problems in his zone. He doesn't do that anymore. "I wasn't surprised when he played so well for Belgium on his debut. He's played a lot of European matches. Both with Standard Liege and Rangers. "When you play against teams like Manchester United, Spurs, Benfica or Real means it's nothing new for him to play against top players. "Playing for his country was a huge honour for him. Nico benefits from that - he's a born winner.'

Shinty: Oban Camanachd storm to victory in Glasgow Celtic Society Challenge Cup final

Oban Camanachd flexed their muscles, displaying the depth of their fully fit squad, before running out 6-1 winners over Kyles Athletic in the Scottish Sea Farms Glasgow Celtic Society Challenge Cup final at Peterson Park. Daniel MacVicar's shot low across the keeper from the right to put the Oban side ahead before Malcolm Clark touched Lorne Dickie's hit-in home to make it 2-0 at the turnaround. James Pringle lost his marker as he ran left before pulling a goal back, but Ross Macmillan sprinted onto Daniel MacVicar's ball forward to beat keeper Iain MacFarlane to make it 3-1. Substitute Daniel Maccuish and Ross Campbell put gloss on the win. Daniel Maccuish juggled the ball by defender and keeper for a brilliant individual effort before Ross Campbell hammered home two fine strikes from the left. Oban Camanachd captain Daniel MacVicar was outstanding throughout, and he stepped forward to collect shinty's oldest trophy from Glasgow Celtic Society president Donald Fletcher. This was Oban Camanachd's third successive Celtic success, their longest winning run since they took south shinty's main prize for eight successive seasons between 1987 and 1994. Oban Camanachd boss Daniel Cameron has now won this trophy as player, captain and manager and he said: 'I knew we had the depth of squad today and that's something we haven't had this season. 'To have the luxury of bringing on a Scottish international like Daniel MacCuish shows where the squad is at just now. 'At the start of the season, people said we'd struggle after losing 6 or 7 players, but we'll let people talk. Oban Camanachd face Glasgow Mid Argyll in the other semi-final. Fort William are two points clear at the top of the Mowi Premiership after beating Kinlochshiel 3-1. Arron Jack put Shiel ahead but Lachie Shaw equalised before half-time. Hamish Shaw put the Fort ahead soon after the restart and a late second from Lachie Shaw sealed victory. Fort William co-manager Alan Knox said: 'We were against the wind during an even first half, but we played some lovely shinty after that and dominated from there. I thought their keeper Josh Grant made some outstanding saves.' Kilmallie go third in the Mowi National Division after beating Glenurquhart 2-1. Full forward Martin Stewart dropped deep to lay the ball off to Ben MacKinnon who sent a blistering 30-yard strike by Stuart MacKintosh in the visiting goal to put Kilmallie ahead. Martin Stewart was again the provider as Archie MacNiven smashed home the second from the left. Daniel Maclean pulled a goal back, but it wasn't enough.

‘A giant of the game' – Willie Mullins adds his tribute to Kevin Prendergast

Prendergast – son of the legendary Paddy 'Darkie' Prendergast – was a hugely popular and respected figure, landing the last of his Classic successes with Awtaad in the Irish 2,000 Guineas in 2016. 'I was sorry to hear about Kevin. He was a tremendous trainer, who always had a word for you,' said Mullins, the reigning champion National Hunt trainer in Ireland and Britain. 'He had an opinion on everything and that opinion was valued by people because he'd been through it, he knew the good days and he knew the bad days. 'He was a tremendous character who will be sadly missed. A proper giant of the game, he did the hard work and he knew everything about the game.' Former trainer Mick Halford, who now represents Joseph O'Brien on racecourses, said: 'Kevin was a master on the Curragh when I started. He was somebody I always looked up to, his horses were always a credit to him. 'He was a great man to talk to, a great man for advice, and for a bit of slagging! 'He was a lovely man and I had a lot of time for him, and he will be sadly missed on the Curragh. 'He led a full life, he was a great example to us all.'
