Nigerian woman held with ₹5 crore drugs on Delhi-Mumbai bus

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has recovered drugs valued at nearly ₹5 crore from a Nigerian woman travelling on a bus from Delhi to Mumbai, an official said on Friday.
The intended receiver of the drugs – methamphetamine and ecstasy – was also apprehended in the follow-up action, he said.
The banned substances were concealed in food packets (oats) and juice tetra packs, the official said.
Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officials trailed a bus coming from Delhi for about 50 km near Mumbai before intercepting the woman in the early hours of Thursday.
The team from the country's premier anti-smuggling unit recovered 2.56 kg of methamphetamine and 584 grams of ecstasy tablets, collectively valued at about ₹5 crore, he said.
Methamphetamine and ecstasy are popular at rave parties for their stimulant effects.
The Nigerian national has been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the official said, adding a probe is underway.

Four Maharashtra men arrested with 166 kg ganja

Four men from Maharashtra were arrested by the Special Operations Team (SOT) of the LB Nagar Zone and the Hayathnagar police for smuggling 166 kilograms of ganja worth ₹50 lakh through Hyderabad. On June 19, the group travelled to Odisha, procured the ganja from Maik, and began their return journey. However, acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted their vehicle on Friday and took all four into custody. Alongside the ganja, officials recovered four mobile phones and ₹6,200 in cash. Police investigations revealed that Vikas is already facing a non-bailable warrant in an earlier ganja case registered by Alair police, while Ranganath has a pending warrant in an Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case in Badrachalam dating back two years. Efforts are underway to trace the main supplier, Maik.

Mumbai woman held for running sex racket; Police rescue minor, two women

Mumbai police arrested a woman for allegedly running a sex racket following a raid at a restaurant in the western suburbs, an official said on Friday. Based on a tip-off, a team from the crime branch raided a restaurant on Chincholi Bunder Road in Malad (west) late on Thursday night, he said. The official said the team nabbed the accused woman with the help of a decoy customer and rescued a minor girl and two women in the operation. The accused has been booked under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and further investigation is underway, he added.
