Prinsloo stars as SA's MBB snatch first Basketball Africa win at the death
Pieter Prinsloo and Robinson Odoch produced the magic as Johannesburg's Made by Ball (MBB) claimed their first win in the Basketball Africa League at the BK Arena in Kigali on Tuesday.
Ugandan Odoch slotted a three-point dagger at the sound of the buzzer to usher in wild celebrations as MBB secured a come-from-behind 75-74 win over Nairobi City Thunder.
Prinsloo is the main man that head coach Sam Vincent would have bought drinks for on Tuesday night. The Pretoria-born star scored 30 points, had 11 rebounds and an assist.
Another standout performer for MBB was Teafale Lenard Jr with 20 points and Jovan Mooring, who added 10.
The win over City Thunder now means the SA team either have to win one game with a superior points difference, or two games, depending on how other matches play out in the Nile Conference, to comfortably claim the last wild card spot.

Media house SuperSport confirmed his death. It's understood he died after a short illness. The Durban-born storyteller known for his iconic line, 'Coach, thoughts please?', made history as SuperSport's first isiZulu-English boxing commentator, and became a beloved football anchor following the Premier Soccer League (PSL) broadcast deal in 2007. Dubbed 'Mr Versatile', he was a fixture on shows like Soccer Africa and Mzansi Legends , and was celebrated for his insight, humility and passion.

Paulino pips Nasir, Cherotich beats Chemutai at Paris Diamond League
Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino outfought Salwa Eid Naser to win the women's 400 metres at the Paris Diamond League meet on Friday, Faith Cherotich won the steeplechase and Grace Stark set a personal best to outgun Tobi Amusan in the 100m hurdles. Girma returned to the scene of his world record from 2023, and was happy to get the race, and win, under his belt. "This is a big thing for me today, especially after the Paris Olympics," Girma said. "It feels it was a long time ago, so this was very important for me. The legs not much of a problem, but I was a little scared. Now that the race is finished I feel much better."

In tonight's Fifa Club World Cup Group F match at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio (6pm SA time kick-off), Sundowns play Dortmund, who are strong contenders in this tournament. Yet their initial outing against Brazil's Fluminense left much to be desired. Held to a frustrating goalless draw, the Germans struggled to find their rhythm, prompting criticism since much more was expected from a team with such an attacking pedigree. Dortmund coach Niko Kovac acknowledged the team's lacklustre performance, suggesting that they were lucky to escape without a loss. Kovac will be pinning his victory hopes on the German club's star striker, Serhou Guirassy. The French-born forward, who dons the colours of the Guinea national team, has emerged as a pivotal figure in Dortmund's attacking line this season. His ability to wreak havoc on opposition defences marks him as a critical target for Sundowns' defenders.
