: Assam Regiment's 84th Raising Day was commemorated in
Mizoram
's capital Aizawl with profound reverence, reflecting the pride and valour of the regiment's storied legacy as the celebration was graced by governor Gen VK Singh on Monday.
Singh laid a wreath at the War Memorial, Treasury Square in Aizawl, offering a heartfelt tribute to the courageous soldiers of the Assam Regiment who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
Representatives from the Mizoram Ex-Services League (MESL), Assam Regiment and Assam Rifles also joined in this solemn gesture, laying wreaths to honour the fallen heroes whose bravery continues to inspire.
Following the wreath laying ceremony, a warm tea gathering and interaction session were held at the Assam Rifles Ground, fostering camaraderie and reflection on the regiment's contributions.
During the event, the governor extended heartfelt congratulations to the Assam Regiment, lauding their unwavering commitment and invaluable service to the nation. He urged the regiment to carry forward their legacy of dedication and courage, inspiring future generations to uphold the values of sacrifice and honour.
Lt Col Clement Lalhmingthanga (Retd), MLA and president of MESL, expressed profound gratitude to the governor for his gracious participation.

I Tired of too many ads? go ad free now ndore: Indore district administration has instructed all petrol pumps on Friday to establish pollution under control (PUC) testing centres in its bid to combat air pollution. Failure to comply will result in punitive action. Also, a rigorous campaign will be launched to inspect fitness certificates of commercial vehicles, unfit ones will face strict action. The directive came during a meeting of district-level monitoring and implementation committee chaired by collector Asheesh Singh. The collector emphasised the need for a joint action plan and its effective implementation by all departments to improve air quality. As decided, strict action will be taken against industrial units causing pollution. Coal-operated industrial units have been directed to shift to PNG within a stipulated time, else strict action will be taken. Unfit vehicles and those without proper PUC certificates will be targeted. Singh stressed that fitness certificates must not be issued without thorough inspection of vehicles. He also directed that PUC certificates should be portal-based, ensuring transparency and accuracy. Action will be taken against PUC operators issuing offline certificates without proper checks. The collector said that strict action would be taken against open burning of biomass and garbage. Besides, hotspot areas with high dust levels will be identified for mechanical sweeping and regular water sprinkling. "Continuous monitoring will be maintained to prevent stubble burning in fields around urban and rural areas. Challans will be issued for violations. It was reported that effective action already took place against stubble burning, with 25 FIRs registered and fines exceeding Rs 18 lakh imposed on 837 individuals," he said.

Candidates now have time till 11:59 PM on 20 June 2025 to submit their online applications on the official website, The original deadline was 17 June, but this extension gives more time to interested candidates to apply for these defence recruitment exams. What is the NDA & NA (II) 2025 Exam? This exam recruits for a total of 406 posts under the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy.
