The Smartest Growth Stock to Buy With $5,000 Right Now
It's been quite the week for Roku (NASDAQ: ROKU) and its shareholders. The country's leader in getting folks streaming from their TVs kicked off the fireworks by announcing a transformative deal with Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) on Monday. An analyst upgrade and a pair of other firms jacking up their price targets followed. The stock is up nearly 10% heading into the final trading day of the week. Roku is a name that has fallen off of many growth investing radars, but the shares are now up 55% over the past year. With its solid growth, continuing niche dominance, and projected return to profitability for the second half of this year, it's a name you should probably start paying attention to again. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Learn More » At its frenzied peak in 2021, a $5,000 investment could barely be exchanged for 10 shares. That same $5,000 today could have you walking away with 60 shares. This is the kind of math that can burn investors if they're buying a falling stock with dim prospects, but today's Roku is in much better shape than it was four years ago. Betting on the stream weaver Roku's revenue and time spent on its platform have both nearly doubled since the shares peaked six times higher four summers ago. However, just saying that Roku is a larger company than it was back in 2021 isn't enough to convince you that this is the smartest growth stock for your next investment. Roku's success in continuing to gain market share as North America's leading streaming operating system for TVs will continue to open doors; doors like the one that was slammed off its hinges on Monday with its new partnership with Amazon. The leading online retailer runs a popular programmatic demand-side ad buying platform, and this week it turned heads by striking an integration deal with Roku. The two companies are typically competitors in the streaming space; Roku's platform competes with Amazon's Fire TV. But despite the wide gap in market cap -- Roku at $12 million and Amazon at $2.3 billion -- the online retailer doesn't attract the same captive U.S. audience as the pioneer. In the spirit of the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" adage, Amazon advertisers will now have access to Roku's massive reach of roughly 80 million U.S. households spending an average of more than four hours a day cradling the Roku remote. The early tests were fruitful. Amazon found that teaming up with Roku would deliver its connected TV clients 40% more unique viewers with the same budget. With better ad targeting and the ability to lower the instances of viewers seeing the same ads repeatedly, Amazon points out that its advertisers can generate a lot more value on Roku through this partnership. Investors got excited about Roku's prospects following the news ahead of Monday's market open. A few analysts took the baton and ran with it later in the week. Spreading the news Analyst Alan Gould at Loop Capital upgraded his opinion on Roku from hold to buy, boosting his price target from $80 to $100 in the process. He feels that the partnership will have a positive impact on Roku's results starting next year, making this now a good time to hop off the fence. The combination of Amazon's shopping feedback loop for advertisers and Roku's market leadership as a streaming hub make this a bar-raising collaboration. A couple of other firms juiced up their price targets without changing their opinions. BofA was already bullish, but it bumped its price goal from $85 to match Loop Capital at $100. Citigroup remains neutral, but it still revised its target on the stock from $68 to $84. Roku was already on the way to tear down bearish knocks on the stock. Its lack of profitability has been a popular pressure point, but its guidance in May called for a net loss of $30 million for all of 2025. Why is this important? Well, Roku clocked in with a bottom-line deficit of $27 million for the first quarter, targeting a loss of $25 million for the current one. A $30 million loss projection for the year after a $52 million hole through the first six months translates into a profit of $22 million over the course of the next six months. Roku was already generating positive free cash flow and adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciations, and amortization (EBITDA). Now it's about to scratch a reversal in net income from its bucket list. All roads lead to Roku these days. More households are turning to Roku to fuel their smart TV streaming needs, and advertisers are doing the same. Roku shares are already bouncing back, but the best is yet to come. Should you invest $1,000 in Roku right now? Before you buy stock in Roku, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and Roku wasn't one of them. Don't Overlook Jabil (JBL) Stock After Topping Its Q3 Expectations
Jabil Inc. JBL was a notable standout in a relatively quiet earnings lineup this week, as investors eyed ongoing conflicts in the Middle East that could potentially impact markets. That said, Jabil is one of the largest global suppliers of electronics manufacturing services and is worthy of investors' attention after posting strong results for its fiscal third quarter on Tuesday. Trading near 52-week highs of over $200 a share, here's a look at why Jabil stock may be poised for more upside. Jabil Customer Base Overview Serving a wide range of major global companies across various industries, two of Jabil's most prominent customers include Apple AAPL and Amazon AMZN. As two of its largest clients, Apple relies on Jabil's manufacturing components for iPhones, among other devices, with Amazon relying on Jabil's computing and hardware services for AWS. While Apple and Amazon have accounted for significant portions of Jabil's revenue, the company has made significant efforts to diversify its customer base, with other noteworthy and diverse clients being healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson JNJ and communication networks leader Ericsson ERIC. Jabil's Strong Q3 Results Briefly reviewing Jabil's strong quarterly results, Q3 sales spiked 15% year over year to $7.82 billion and topped estimates of $7.08 billion by 10%. More impressive, Q3 EPS of $2.55 soared 35% from $1.89 in the comparative quarter and beat earnings expectations of $2.33 per share by 9%. Continuing its compelling and consistent operational performance, Jabil has now surpassed the Zacks EPS Consensus for 21 consecutive quarters with an average earnings surprise of 6.68% over the last four quarters. Jabil's Guidance & Outlook Offering guidance for its fiscal fourth quarter, Jabil expects Q4 sales in the range of $7.1 billion-$7.8 billion, with the current Zacks Consensus at $7.55 billion or 8% growth. Jabil expects Q4 EPS at $2.64-$3.04, with Zacks projections currently at $2.75 or 19% growth. Correlating with its diverse customer base and strategic alignment with secular trends such as AI, Jabil expects to see continued revenue expansion, margin enhancement, and robust free cash flow generation in the coming years. JBL Performance & Valuation Year to date, Jabil stock is up over +40% and has blown away the performance of the broader indexes, which have been virtually flat. More intriguing, JBL is sitting on gains of more than +200% in the last three years to impressively outpace the stock performances of its top big tech customers in Amazon and Apple and the benchmark S&P 500 and Nasdaq's returns of +60% and +80%, respectively. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Despite vastly outperforming the broader market, JBL still trades at a slight discount to the benchmark at 22.9X forward earnings. This is also a noticeable discount to the high P/E premiums that many top-performing tech stocks can command. Conclusion & Final Thoughts Jabil stock currently sports a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) as earnings estimates have started to trend higher following its strong Q3 results for fiscal 2025 and FY26. Also suggesting JBL is worthy of investors' consideration is that Jabil is on track to generate over $1.2 billion in free cash flow this year and has a healthy balance sheet with debt to core EBITDA levels of approximately 1.4X. Furthermore, Jabil is on track to complete a $1 billion share repurchase plan, reflecting management's confidence that its strong operational performance will continue. Zacks Names #1 Semiconductor Stock It's only 1/9,000th the size of NVIDIA which skyrocketed more than +800% since we recommended it. NVIDIA is still strong, but our new top chip stock has much more room to boom. With strong earnings growth and an expanding customer base, it's positioned to feed the rampant demand for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Internet of Things. Global semiconductor manufacturing is projected to explode from $452 billion in 2021 to $803 billion by 2028. Why Amazon Could Be About To Breakout To $250
Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) has staged an impressive comeback since the dark days of early April. The tech giant is up more than 30% in barely more than two months and, as of Tuesday evening, was trading just under $215. That's only around a 10% move away from February's r ecord highs at the $240 level. For those of us on the sidelines, it's time to get excited because there are multiple signs that another leg higher is coming fast. Between bullish technical momentum, supportive analyst coverage, and a consistent tendency to rally into earnings, there are at least three solid reasons to think shares could be trading at $250 or more before the summer is out. The Technical Setup Is Bullish Since April, Amazon's chart has been showing higher highs and higher lows, a classic sign of a strong uptrend. Each dip has been shallow and swiftly bought up. Momentum is clearly on the bulls' side, and with the broader market in risk-on mode, that trend looks likely to continue. In recent sessions, the $215 level has emerged as a key resistance zone. It's where sellers have stepped in and checked the upward momentum, but they've been unable to reverse the overall trend. With the stock tightening into that level, we're now looking at a textbook breakout setup. A clean push through $215 could trigger a fast move up to retest the all-time highs at $242. But it may not stop there. In a market driven by momentum and narrative, the psychology of a breakout can be just as powerful as any catalyst. A break above all-time highs would confirm the bullish structure, clear the way for new upside targets, and likely trigger a wave of technical buying. If that happens, $250 becomes a very achievable near-term target. Analysts Are Getting Louder The analyst community is doing its part to support the bull case. Already this month, both JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America have reiterated their Overweight ratings and issued fresh price targets. JPMorgan raised its target to $240, while BofA raised its target to $248. Both calls reflect growing confidence that Amazon's underlying business remains robust, especially on the AWS side, and that it's well-positioned to continue outpacing expectations. These new targets align broadly with other analysts' bullish stance throughout the year, but they are far from the most optimistic. The team over at Tigress Financial reiterated their Buy rating last month and boosted their price target to a street-high $305, which implies more than 40% upside from current levels. Amazon Loves to Rally Into Earnings The final reason to be excited about the potential upside in the weeks ahead is Amazon's pattern of running into earnings. With the next report due in late July, this dynamic should help drive an imminent breakout. We saw this in the run-up to the May report when shares rallied sharply in the weeks before the results. The same pattern played out in February and again last November. That kind of consistency makes it a fairly reliable playbook, especially when combined with broader bullish market sentiment. This time around, the conditions are arguably even better. The major indices are once again flirting with fresh all-time highs, investor appetite for mega-cap tech is surging again, and Amazon's fundamentals look stronger than ever. If recent history is any guide, smart investors will start building or adding to positions starting now, ahead of the July report. When a stock with this kind of chart and analyst support also has a history of rallying to earnings (that it then beats), it's hard to stay on the sidelines. Where Should You Invest $1,000 Right Now?
