Nirvana Charts A New Single, 30 Years After Breaking Up

It's been more than 30 years since Nirvana disbanded following the death of frontman Kurt Cobain, yet the grunge icons continue to regularly appear on rankings in many Western markets. In fact, it's more common to see the band charting than not, with Nirvana often scoring a bestselling song and album at the same time.
No new music is expected from the long-defunct rockers, but Nirvana still manages to land a new hit in the United Kingdom this week.
A rarely-discussed short collection debuts on the Official Physical Singles chart, a list that ranks the bestselling individual songs and, in this case, very short EPs available in any physical format in the U.K. This week, Live at the Tunnel, Rome, Italy, 23 Feb 1994 opens at No. 94 on the roster.
The live recording gives Nirvana its seventh career placement on the Official Physical Singles chart. The band didn't reach the ranking until a year after it disbanded, when 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' finally appeared. Nirvana wouldn't return to the tally until 2013 — nearly 20 years later — with 'Heart-Shaped Box,' which still stands as its lowest-charting title, as it peaked at No. 97 on the 100-spot tally. It's only been less than a year since 'Sliver' earned the group another win on this roster.
The Live at the Tunnel EP was recorded during a show at a venue named Tunnel in Rome. The band played on February 23, 1994, as its lengthy title explains. Around that time, Nirvana's European trek was cut short, partially due to Cobain's declining health. He was hospitalized for what appeared to be a suicide attempt while in Italy and spent time in both a hospital in the capital city.
Tragically, the singer-songwriter died just a little more than a month later. The concert immortalized in this brief release aired as a tribute on Italian television, and it remained a thing of legend for many years — especially among die-hard super fans who seem to know everything about Nirvana.
Nirvana's EP is back in the spotlight, at least in part, due to the story of the band's final shows in Italy being told in a new documentary. Italian music journalist Daniela Giombini recounts her tale of booking the group in her country before the rockers made it big, and then later on when they were the most famous in the world, in her new film, Rome As You Are. The movie was released just months ago in theaters in the European nation.

Why Danny Boyle shot ‘28 Years Later' on iPhones

Director Danny Boyle famously shot his post-apocalyptic classic '28 Days Later' on Canon digital cameras, making it easier for him to capture eerie scenes of an abandoned London, and giving the movie's fast-moving zombies a terrifying immediacy. To make his decades-later sequel '28 Years Later' (which opened this weekend), Boyle turned to a different piece of consumer tech — the iPhone. Boyle told Wired that by using a rig that could hold 20 iPhone Pro Max cameras, the filmmaking team created 'basically a poor man's bullet time,' capturing the brutal action scenes from a variety of angles. Even when he wasn't using the rig, Boyle (who once directed a biopic of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs) said the iPhone was the movie's 'principal camera,' albeit after disabling settings like automatic focus and adding special accessories. 'Filming with iPhones allowed us to move without huge amounts of equipment,' Boyle said, adding that the team was 'able to move quickly and lightly to areas of the countryside that we wanted to retain their lack of human imprint.' Tod's Spring 2026 Menswear Collection

The sizzling Milan heat took a breather (so to speak) at Club Gommino, Tod's open-air lounge opened in the lush garden of Villa Necchi Campiglio to fête the spring presentation. Guests, iced drinks in hand, let portable fans work overtime. Models were arranged in languid poolside tableaux. A tennis court was set up under a (thankfully refrigerated) canopy to display the accessory collection. Matteo Tamburini kept his cool—quite literally—during a garden press conference that had editors daydreaming of the seaside escape images he had pinned on the moodboard. A native of Pesaro, a resort town in the Marche region, he's familiar with the spirit of Italian villeggiatura—sandy beaches, striped ombrelloni, and lazy afternoons under breezy tents. For spring, he channeled that summer ease: think refined casual wear inflected with a laid-back vibe. 'The silhouettes follow the idea of balanced comfort,' Tamburini said. 'Each piece has a calibrated functionality, a kind of relaxed sartorial flair, with just a dash of sportiness.' His warm, elegant minimalism feels like a good fit for Tod's. Rather than chasing trends, he's refreshed the brand codes with natural polish. Working within the familiar framework of classic casual wear, Tamburini emphasized fluid movement using soft yet structured fabrics: travel-friendly wool, suede in sherbet hues, and striped silk canvas. Shirts carried the breezy lightness of deck chair coverings; the color palette drew inspiration from the chromatic studies of Josef Albers. 'These are hues that meet and transform,' said Tamburini, 'just as light changes the way we perceive things.' Who knew Tamburini isn't just a sharp designer, but something of a poet too?

Kelsey Parker suffers tragic loss of third child

Kelsey Parker's third child has been "born sleeping". The 34-year-old podcaster has announced the devastating news her and boyfriend Will Lindsay's son, who they named Phoenix, was stillborn, just a week before his due date. Kelsey - who has Aurelia, five, and Bodhi, four, with her late husband Tom Parker - shared a poem about her baby on Instagram, which was captioned: "Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved." The short verse read: "The grew quiet as you arrived, So loved, so longed for, yet not alive. Our precious boy, our angel light, Born with wings, took silent flight'. "We named you Phoenix, brave and bright. A soul of love, of warmth and light Though we never heard you cry, You'll live in hearts that won't ask why. No breath you drew, no eyes to see, Still, you mean everything to me. You'll journey with us, softly near, In every sigh, in every tear." Shortly after announcing the news, Kelsey took to her Instagram Story to thank fans in advance for their messages of support but explained she and her family would be in need of some "space and time" to grieve. She wrote: "Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share'. "But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news. "I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. Love always, Kelsey, Will, and the Parker Family." Kelsey recently defended herself from criticism she had moved on too quickly after Tom died from a brain tumour in 2022. She told Closer magazine: "Will's been amazing. He embraces Tom. But the bad comments stick with you. "I think coming to our life must have been a lot, but again, I think Will was the perfect person because he doesn't overthink it. "People will ask, 'Is Will jealous of Tom?' He doesn't feel that way about Tom, which I was always worried about, because my love for Tom is obviously like beyond." And Kelsey believes the late Wanted singer "picked" the tree surgeon for her. She said: "I do feel like Tom actually picked him. I think he was like, 'He's great. He's perfect for her.' "
