GreenCell Mobility gets govt's letter of award for 472 e-Buses in MP

Eversource Capital-backed electric mobility firm GreenCell Mobility on Wednesday said it has received the Letter of Award (LOA) for the supply and deployment of 472 e-buses in Madhya Pradesh under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme.
The company said it has partnered with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) to deploy electric buses across six cities in Madhya Pradesh.
Additionally, the company said it has also joined hands with EKA Mobility for the supply and deployment of 750 e-buses across 11 cities in Andhra Pradesh.
PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme is part of the Central Government's initiative to deploy 10,000 e-buses nationwide and support the Government of India's mission to electrify public transport.
In FY 2024-25, CESL (Convergence Energy Services Ltd) introduced a tender for 4,588 electric buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, according to GreenCell Mobility.
The company already has some 900 e-buses operational in UP, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
These new contracts will see GreenCell Mobility expand its electric bus operations across Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, the company said.
"These two projects are a major milestone in our mission to transform mass mobility through zero-emission electric buses. Backed by strategic partnerships with leading OEMs and a robust financing model, we are committed to making clean, efficient public transportation accessible throughout India's growing cities," said Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO, GreenCell Mobility.
In addition, the company said it is also actively developing and deploying the necessary charging infrastructure to support these deployments.

Andhra: SLSC to oversee 750 e-bus proposal

VIJAYAWADA: The State government on Thursday constituted a State Level Steering Committee (SLSC) to oversee the submission of proposals to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for procuring 750 electric buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. These e-buses, sanctioned by MoHUA, will be deployed across 11 cities in the State. As per the scheme's guidelines, each participating state must form an State Level Steering Committee headed by the Chief Secretary to review and forward proposals to the Centre for approval. Following a detailed study of the scheme and practices followed by other states like Punjab and Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh formed the committee. The State Level Steering Committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary, with members including the Special Chief Secretary (Energy), Principal Secretaries of Transport, Roads and Buildings, Finance, and MAUD, Secretary (Industries and Commerce), and the Commissioner of the Public Transport Department. The State government finalised M/s Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune, along with discovered Gross Cost Contract (GCC) prices, as the selected agency for supplying the buses. As per the Government Order, the proposal for the e-bus procurement will be submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs through the newly formed SLSC.

A new report by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) finds that electric two-wheelers are already the most affordable ride on the road—costing just ₹1.48 per kilometre, compared to ₹2.46/km for petrol models. That's not a small difference—it's a financial win for millions of Indian riders, from students to gig workers and city commuters. And with India expected to see over 350 million two-wheelers by 2050 (nearly 70% of the automobile market), that cost advantage could have a massive impact on both household budgets and national fuel use. EVs take the lead The CEEW report highlights how electric vehicles, especially two- and three-wheelers, are already cost-competitive across key segments. In the case of two-wheelers, the numbers speak for themselves: Electric two-wheelers: ₹1.48/km Petrol two-wheelers: ₹2.46/km Beyond the fuel savings, EVs come with lower maintenance costs, longer lifespan, and growing support through governtment subsidies and incentives like the PM E-Drive Scheme.
