KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Banking Group (RHB) celebrates the continued success of its #JomBiz programme, a socio-economic empowerment initiative aimed at empowering B40 micro entrepreneurs.
Since launching in 2022, the programme has invested over RM1.1mil, benefitting more than 700 micro-entrepreneurs and delivering an impressive 35% average sales growth within just three months.
The 2025 RHB #JomBiz Award Ceremony held on Feb 10 celebrated these remarkable achievements of selected micro entrepreneurs from RHB #JomBiz, showcasing the programme's critical role in providing funding, capacity building, and mentorship to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the B40 group and underserved communities.
The ceremony recognised the recipients of business incentive funding from Cohort 5 of the #JomBiz programme. Participants undergo capacity-building classes on topics such as social media marketing, sustainable business practices and financial management.
Following these sessions, they present their business plans to a panel of judges, with the top 10 proposals receiving initial funding ranging from RM5,000 to RM15,000 to support their business growth.
RHB group managing director/group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohamad emphasised RHB's commitment to supporting micro-entrepreneurs, 'We recognise the immense potential of MSMEs in transforming lives and uplifting communities, but we also acknowledge the challenges they face such as limited access to funding, lack of business knowledge and the difficulty of building networks within competitive markets.

'This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to driving growth, fostering resilience and empowering participants to overcome obstacles and thrive in today's dynamic economy.'
At the graduation ceremony of Cohort 5, Mohd Rashid also shared inspiring success stories from the programme, including participants who secured franchise opportunities and supply contracts with renowned companies after attending the Franchise Expo Malaysia 2024 organised by the Malaysia Retail Chain Association.
Notably, four #JomBiz participants were recognised at The Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2023. The top 3 winners of Cohort 5's business incentive funding are:
> First: Nurul Farhana Amirul Hizan, Hanawarrah Creation Enterprise (healthy dried snack food products) - awarded with RM15,000
> Second: Mohd Shafiq Ezwanie Jafri, Senju Co (pastry and bakery business) - awarded with RM12,000
> Third: Nur Shawani Che Mansur, Wisymadani Resources (agro-tourism and agro-based industry business) - awarded with RM10,000
Mohd Rashid concluded, 'These stories inspire us at RHB to continue providing more platforms for our RHB #JomBiz participants. We hope their success inspires and motivates other micro-entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams.'
RHB aims to expand the #JomBiz programme in 2025 to reach more participants and broaden its impact on Malaysia's micro-entrepreneur community. The programme will continue to prioritise asnafs, single parents, and persons with disabilities, ensuring inclusive opportunities for all.

LBS supports eco-friendly living with Centrum Iris CAMERON HIGHLANDS: LBS Bina Group Bhd has unveiled Centrum Iris, the second precinct of its signature Cameron Centrum township. With a Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM472mil, Centrum Iris is officially the largest mixed commercial development in Cameron Highlands, setting a new benchmark for integrated highland living in Malaysia. Centrum Iris, the second phase of the Cameron Centrum township, marks a significant milestone in LBS' vision to redefine highland living. It builds upon the success of Precinct 1 — Cameron Highlands' largest mixed-use development, completed in 2021 — which features 58 shop-office units ranging from two to five storeys and is now 95% occupied by well-known brands in the food and beverage, banking, healthcare and daily essentials sectors. The thriving commercial ecosystem in Precinct 1 has laid a solid foundation for Centrum Iris, offering a ready catchment of lifestyle convenience and investment appeal. Centrum Iris stands out as the first development in Cameron Highlands to receive the Silver GreenRE Certification reflecting LBS' ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible development. Designed to promote green living, the project includes electric vehicle (EV) charging bays, 47 lifestyle-focused facilities and a rooftop cafe and restaurant with panoramic highland views, strategically planned to foster a greener and healthier lifestyle. Strategically located in the heart of Brinchang's bustling commercial district, Centrum Iris offers 705 residential units — ranging from 595 sq ft to 1,370 sq ft and priced from RM476,000 — as well as 26 commercial units ranging from 615 sq ft to 2,944 sq ft, starting from RM676,000. The development seamlessly blends modern architecture with English-inspired aesthetics, creating a distinctive and elevated lifestyle destination in the highlands that caters to both homeowners and investors. The initiative is set to drive hassle-free returns for LBS purchasers and homeowners. 'Our collaboration with MyKey and Dreamscape enables us to expand Centrum Iris' appeal beyond traditional homeownership, tapping into the short-term rental market in Malaysia's tourism hotspots,' said LBS executive director Datuk Seri Daniel Lim, who officiated the grand opening event. Also present during the event were LBS executive director Datuk Cynthia Lim and deputy chief executive officer Lucas Lim. Negeri Sembilan To Provide Affordable Homes For Asnaf Families

SEREMBAN, June 23 (Bernama) – The Negeri Sembilan government, through the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (MAINS), will soon begin acquiring affordable homes under the Rumah Mawaddah programme to assist eligible asnaf families in financial hardship, particularly those without land ownership. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the initial phase will involve the purchase of 13 Type A affordable housing units, each priced at RM110,000. He noted that while MAINS previously constructed three-bedroom, two-bathroom houses on land owned by asnaf at RM100,000 per unit, the new initiative targets those without land by providing completed homes directly. Speaking to reporters after officiating the Zakat and Construction Synergy Seminar here today, Aminuddin said MAINS built 12 Rumah Mawaddah units last year for RM1.2 million, with another four units (RM400,000) currently under development and expected to be completed by June. He added that the state government remains committed to promoting balanced material and spiritual development, aligned with the Malaysia MADANI framework, which emphasises social responsibility, inclusiveness and shared prosperity. 'Business zakat contributed by Muslim contractors not only increases overall zakat collections but also lays the foundation for a sustainable and inclusive development ecosystem, ultimately benefiting the poor and underprivileged,' he said. MAINS Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Aziz Sheikh Ab Kadir, who was also present, announced the launch of the EZp Zakat Business Assessment Declaration, an online platform designed to streamline submission, verification and transparency for corporate zakat assessments. 'This declaration will serve as the official document for business zakat contributions based on accurate calculations. I believe this initiative will drive greater awareness and compliance among Muslim-owned companies, further strengthening the ummah's economic ecosystem in line with Maqasid Shariah principles,' he said. -- BERNAMA
