ELS get upgraded with innovative, crew-friendly modifications
Visakhapatnam: Electrical Loco Shed (ELS), Visakhapatnam, has introduced a series of innovative, crew-friendly modifications in WAP7 locomotive (37419), setting a new benchmark in operational excellence and crew comfort.
Retrofitted crew desk, enhanced cab AC ducting, ventilated and improved seats, superior seating for enhanced driving comfort, motor-operated side window shutters, caution order display, rear view camera, anti-slip flooring with radium stickers, driver tool box, adjustable cab spot lights are some of the key feature improvements made to the loco engine.
The upgraded locomotive was ceremoniously flagged off by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Waltair, Lalit Bohra at Electric Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam. Recognising the dedication and innovation demonstrated by the ELS, VSKP team, DRM has announced a cash award of Rs 5,000.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalit Bohra said, 'These modifications reflect our commitment to crew welfare and operational excellence. I congratulate the team for their innovative approach and wish them success at the All India Electric Loco Cab Competition.'
Launched under the guidance of senior divisional electrical engineer B Shanmukha Rao, these enhancements have been carried out as part of the ELS/VSKP's entry into the 'All India Electric Loco Cab Competition' to be held at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW).

PUC centres mandatory at all petrol pumps of Swachh city
I Tired of too many ads? go ad free now ndore: Indore district administration has instructed all petrol pumps on Friday to establish pollution under control (PUC) testing centres in its bid to combat air pollution. Failure to comply will result in punitive action. Also, a rigorous campaign will be launched to inspect fitness certificates of commercial vehicles, unfit ones will face strict action. The directive came during a meeting of district-level monitoring and implementation committee chaired by collector Asheesh Singh. The collector emphasised the need for a joint action plan and its effective implementation by all departments to improve air quality. As decided, strict action will be taken against industrial units causing pollution. Coal-operated industrial units have been directed to shift to PNG within a stipulated time, else strict action will be taken. Unfit vehicles and those without proper PUC certificates will be targeted. Singh stressed that fitness certificates must not be issued without thorough inspection of vehicles. He also directed that PUC certificates should be portal-based, ensuring transparency and accuracy. Action will be taken against PUC operators issuing offline certificates without proper checks. The collector said that strict action would be taken against open burning of biomass and garbage. Besides, hotspot areas with high dust levels will be identified for mechanical sweeping and regular water sprinkling. "Continuous monitoring will be maintained to prevent stubble burning in fields around urban and rural areas. Challans will be issued for violations. It was reported that effective action already took place against stubble burning, with 25 FIRs registered and fines exceeding Rs 18 lakh imposed on 837 individuals," he said.

Auto driver returns Rs 17L left behind by Myanmar bizman
1 2 3 4 5 6 Aizawl: An auto-rickshaw driver in Mizoram's Lawngtlai town has become a beacon of honesty by returning a staggering Rs 17 lakh to a businessman from Myanmar, who had inadvertently left the sum behind in his vehicle. Remarkably, Lalhmingmuana expected nothing in return for his noble act, a testament to his character. The incident unfolded on Thursday night around 9pm. The Myanmar businessman had hired Lalhmingmuana's auto-rickshaw for a ride from the Bazar Veng locality to Hotel Husop in the Lawngtlai-3 neighborhood. While getting down, he left a polythene bag filled with currency notes behind his seat. Panic ensued as the businessman and hotel staff frantically searched the hotel room for the missing bundle. Meanwhile, Lalhmingmuana, upon discovering the forgotten money, made his way back to the hotel. There, he handed over the bundle to its rightful owner, restoring not just the money, but also faith in humanity. C Zathianga, president of the Lawngtlai Auto Rickshaw Owners' Association (LAROA), expressed immense pride in Lalhmingmuana's actions. "Though the auto-rickshaw driver was fully aware of what was inside the bundle, he honestly handed over it to the businessman and we are all extremely proud of him for his honesty and noble gesture," Zathianga said.
