With over 1 gigawatt of solar equipment supplied in South Africa in the past year, Trinasolar (www.Trinasolar.com) returns to the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) reaffirming its position as a long-term partner in Africa's clean energy journey. At this year's event in Cape Town, the company is spotlighting its next-generation solar and battery storage solutions, designed to withstand extreme weather, harsh environmental conditions, and evolving grid demands across the continent.
'As the energy crisis and climate volatility continue to impact South Africa and the broader African region, Trinasolar is focused on delivering real solutions that enable long-term energy security,' said Vincent Wu, Global Sales Vice President and MEA MU Head at Trinasolar. 'Our high-efficiency PV modules and advanced energy storage systems are engineered to meet the challenging realities on the ground. Through our presence at AEF, we're reinforcing our commitment to supporting Africa's transition to a greener, more stable energy future; one built on innovation, resilience, and strategic collaboration.'
Taking centre stage is the launch of the Vertex N 630W (NED19RC.20), Trinasolar's newest ultra-durable solar module. Tailored for Africa's diverse and often unpredictable conditions, the module features reinforced mechanical design, anti-dust and corrosion-resistant components, and a record-breaking 55 mm hail resistance rating, which is more than double the industry standard.
Certified for fire safety and built to perform in environments rich in salt, ammonia, and sand, the module delivers a maximum power output of 630W and up to 23.3% efficiency. Its low-voltage, high-string design is compatible with leading inverters, while reducing system costs and installation time for commercial and utility-scale developers.
'We're seeing strong momentum across the region, especially in the commercial, industrial, and utility-scale sectors where innovation and ease of installation matter,' said Zaheer Khan, Regional Director for South Africa, Trinasolar MEA. 'Installers and partners are drawn to solutions like the Vertex N 630W, not just for its performance, but because it addresses real operational challenges in tough environments.
'In just the past year, Trinasolar has delivered over a gigawatt of technology solar equipment in South Africa alone,' Khan added. 'It's a milestone that reflects our growing footprint, trusted relationships, and long-term commitment to the region. And we're just getting started.'
Trinasolar's growing Africa portfolio includes solar modules, smart tracker systems, energy storage solutions, and floating PV technologies. These offerings are designed to meet the continent's diverse energy needs with quality, flexibility, and integration at the core. With local presence in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and warehouse facilities in Durban that maintain 10–20 megawatts of stock for quick nationwide delivery, Trinasolar supports rapid deployment across the region. Its expanding footprint includes commercial engagement in Kenya, Nigeria, Morocco, and other strategic markets.
Over the past decade, Trinasolar has played a key role in shaping South Africa's solar market—driving utility-scale projects, enabling C&I growth, and supporting the country's path toward decentralisation and clean energy. As Africa's energy transition accelerates, Trinasolar remains focused on scaling integrated systems, expanding local talent and operations, and collaborating closely with governments, utilities, and private sector partners to deliver long-term energy resilience.
Trinasolar will be exhibiting at Booth B15 at the Africa Energy Forum in Cape Town from 17–20 June, where its senior team will be available for business meetings and stakeholder discussions.

Egypt's chemical, fertilizer exports rise 18% in 4M 2025, reaching $3.14bln

Egypt's Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council has reported an 18% year-on-year increase in sector exports during the first four months of 2025, with total exports reaching $3.14bn—up from approximately $2.73bn during the same period in 2024. Fertilizers led the sector's performance, generating $961m in export revenue, followed by plastics and polymers at $723m. Petrochemicals ranked third with $602m but recorded the highest growth among sub-sectors, surging 58% compared to the previous year. Turkey emerged as the top importer, purchasing $437m worth of Egyptian chemical and fertilizer products. It was followed by Italy ($396m), Spain ($187m), and Brazil (around $184m). Regionally, the European Union remained the largest export destination, accounting for 42% of total exports. Arab countries followed with 22%, and Asian markets with 16%. Khaled Abou El Makarem, Chairperson of the Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council, said the divs reflect the sector's resilience and sustained growth despite global economic and geopolitical challenges. He emphasized the need to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products and accelerate market diversification—especially in Africa and Latin America. He added that the upcoming implementation of a new export subsidy rebate program in the second half of 2025 is expected to further stimulate the sector, helping achieve the Council's target of surpassing $9bn in total exports by year-end. Executive Director Mohamed Magid echoed these sentiments, highlighting the sector's strong performance as a testament to its ability to maintain momentum under pressure. He noted that the first-quarter results are a positive indicator of the global competitiveness of Egyptian products, despite ongoing regional conflicts and global economic headwinds that have disrupted fertilizer and petrochemical production worldwide. Magid also underlined the importance of developing industrial value chains and expanding specialized industries to further strengthen Egypt's export capabilities and support the state's broader goals for industrial and trade development. © 2024 Daily News Egypt. Citrus and potatoes top Egypt's H1 agricultural exports of 5.2mln tonnes

Egypt's agricultural exports rose to 5.2 million tonnes during the first half of the year, with citrus fruits and potatoes continuing to lead the list of products, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced. The divs were detailed in a report received by Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk from the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, the ministry said in a statement. Citrus fruits led the exports with approximately 1.8 million tonnes, followed by potatoes at 1.2 million tonnes. The ministry said this confirms their growing importance as key export crops due to their recognised quality. Other major exports included 168,000 tonnes of fresh onions, 136,000 tonnes of fresh and dry beans, and 103,000 tonnes of sweet potatoes, which ranked fifth. The list of major exports also included grapes, fresh strawberries, fresh garlic, fresh tomatoes, guavas, and pomegranates. The minister said the state was working to enhance Egypt's position as a leading regional hub for high-quality agricultural exports. He noted Egypt's commitment to applying the highest standards of quality and food safety, which helps open new markets and boosts international confidence in Egyptian products. Farouk added that the ministry continuously provides support to exporters and works to remove obstacles to increase the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets, underlining the agricultural sector's pivotal role in the economy and in supporting the state's development plans. The minister attributed the success of the export system to the collaborative efforts of farmers, producers, and exporters who are committed to high-quality output and good agricultural practices. He also praised the continuous monitoring by agricultural engineers and researchers, the efforts of the agriculturalquarantine authorities, the ministry's central reference laboratories, and foreign agricultural relations in opening new markets. He highlighted the constant follow-up on shipments from the farm to the destination market. Farouk called on the relevant ministry departments to continue their development and monitoring efforts and to provide all forms of support to agricultural producers to further grow the export sector and maintain the quality of Egyptian produce. © 2024 Daily News Egypt. Beltone Leasing secures $20mln for MSMEs, green financing in MENA

Cairo: Beltone Leasing and Factoring, a wholly owned subsidiary of Beltone Holding, obtained a total of $20 million in funding from two investment funds managed by Germany-based Finance in Motion GmbH. Each of the SANAD Fund for MSME and the Green for Growth Fund (GGF) granted $10 million, with a five-year repayment tenor, according to a press release. SANAD's share will be channeled toward expanding financial inclusion for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and low-income households across the MENA region. Meanwhile, GGF's share will be allocated to financing renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable resource use initiatives across MENA and surrounding regions. The transaction supports Beltone Leasing's strategy to deliver innovative, non-bank financial services that drive both economic empowerment and environmental sustainability. It also aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030 and Beltone Holding's broader commitment to sustainability in its operations. The Deputy Head of NBFIs for Leasing, Factoring, and Consumer Finance, Amir Ghannam, said: 'Securing foreign currency funding from institutions like SANAD and GGF enhances our ability to diversify our capital base and offer more competitive financing solutions.' 'This funding will enable us to strengthen our support for MSMEs while accelerating green projects that contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future,' Ghannam added. Sherif Hassan, Group Treasurer and Managing Director of Debt Capital Markets, stated: 'This funding reflects our strong collaboration with Finance in Motion and our commitment to channeling strategic capital to grow Beltone Leasing and Factoring.' In the first three months (3M) of 2025, Beltone Holding generated consolidated operating revenues of EGP 2.80 billion, while the net profits surged to EGP 703 million.
