Melrose Place icon is a grandmother! Star announces surprise arrival of newborn Grayson

Daily Maila day ago

Melrose Place alum Laura Leighton announced the arrival of the newest and littlest member of her family, newborn grandson Grayson, on Tuesday.
The 56-year-old Golden Globe nominee - 148K Instagram followers - captioned her sweet snap: 'Wearing my Nana hat again, this time for my perfect grandson! Sweet baby Grayson. Sweet smooshiness.'
Indeed, Laura (born Laurie Miller) became a grandmother for the first time in 2023 when her stepdaughter Madeleine Savant Dault welcomed her now 22-month-old daughter Josephine.
'I'm a Nana!' Leighton gushed at the time. 'Madly in love with this bundle of perfection named Josephine. Yep. #grandparenting.'
The Still the Place podcaster famously met her husband of 27 years, Doug Savant, on the set of Darren Star's hit Fox soap opera while portraying the flame-haired vixen Sydney and the openly gay doctor Matt.
The 60-year-old Desperate Housewives alum reportedly left Melrose Place in 1998 after six seasons because the network refused to allow the writers to explore his character's love life.
'We've raised four children together and we're pretty proud of that,' Laura told the Still Here Hollywood podcast last January.
'And still going. It truly was the best thing to come out of the show.'
Leighton and Savant are parents of 24-year-old son Jack and 20-year-old daughter Lucy, and he welcomed daughters - Adrianna, 33; and Madeleine, 31 - during his 14-year marriage to Dawn Marie Dunkin, which ended in 1997 (the same year they got engaged).
On September 14, the Iowa-born beauty reunited with her former castmates Josie Bissett, Daphne Zuniga, Brooke Langton, Grant Show, and Heather Locklear at 90s Con 2024 in Daytona Beach, FL.
Laura and Zuniga gave an update on CBS Studios developing a Melrose Place reboot executive produced by them and starring them as well as Locklear.
Leighton explained that there were a lot of 'moving parts and pieces' involved and 'the stars need to align, but we want it as much as the fans want it.'
'Everyone has agreed to do it. Laura and I worked on this for a little bit now,' 62-year-old Daphne - who played Jo Reynolds - added.
'It is in talks. Business affairs and lawyers and all those types are talking about it, and they do want to do it.'
Laura said the continuation, set 30 years later, will catch up with what happens to all of the original characters.
'There's all these fan stories, all these great conspiracies and those are just wonderfully creative ideas, an example of everybody's interest in where they would be,' Leighton told the crowd.

'We were such an easy group of people. We loved each other then. We can't think of anything better than to come back together and tell a new story soon.'
Laura's character, whose the younger sister of Jane (Bissett), appeared in the first five seasons before being hit by a car and 'killed' in 1997 only to be resurrected for The CW's 2009 reboot and murdered yet again.
Leighton hasn't acted since guest-starring in an episode of Dynasty and an episode of Fantasy Island in 2021.
Laura is also well known for her role as Ashley Marin in I. Marlene King's mystery teen drama Pretty Little Liars, which aired for seven seasons on Freeform spanning 2010–2017.

I've been a bridesmaid five times... the amount I've spent on weddings is jaw-dropping

A woman has shared the eye-watering amount that she's forked over for friends' weddings - joking she 'could have put a down payment on a house' with the amount she's spent. Sacramento-based Shannon Detrick, 30, revealed she's been a bridesmaid in five of her close friends weddings - and she broke down the total cost. She explained in the now-viral TikTok that for the first bachelorette party, which was held in Palm Springs, Shannon spent $965, with the wedding being held semi locally and costing her $916. 'Bachelorette number two was for one of my high school BFFs, it was in Miami, and [I] spent $1,425,' she said. The wedding was local again, costing Shannon $522. The third bachelorette party was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, coming to a total of $1,536. The wedding took place in Denver, meaning they had to fly out, which cost her another $1,782. 'Bachelorette number four was in Sonoma [California], it was her 30th birthday so we kind of balled out,' she admitted, revealing the total she spent was $1,676. The wedding was held in Maine, with accommodation and flights coming to $1,982. The fifth celebration was a joint party held in Scottsdale, with Shannon's husband's cost included in the total, which was $2,978. That wedding cost her another $1,081. In total, Shannon spent $14,863 on five bachelorettes and weddings, spending an average of $1,256 on the weddings and $1,716 on the bachelorette festivities. She added her time as a bridesmaids isn't over yet, with upcoming maid of honor duties for her sister's wedding and bachelorette coming soon. 'Love all of these people SO MUCH and would do any one of these events over in a heart beat,' she captioned the post. She continued: 'But its always important to remember that saying "yes" comes with a [price] tag! 'Brides/couples: be very open with your wedding party before expecting them to say yes. 'Also be flexible with your expectations for things like travel, bachelorette parties, etc. in this economy.' 'Your friends (usually) WANT to be there for you!' she added. 'Bridesmaids/wedding party: make the most out of the trips! Its such a special time for your people and being by their side is truly so special.' According to The Knot, the average cost of being a bridesmaid is between $1,200 to $1,800 but said it could be as high as $2,950. Many bridesmaids have taken to social media to share their qualms over being invited to be a part of someone's big day - with an astronomical price tag. Earlier in the year, a woman posted a lengthy message to Reddit, sharing her concerns over an upcoming wedding after the bride told her bridal party she expected them to cover huge financial costs of her pre-wedding events. 'When asking us to be in the wedding party, the bride made it clear she expected bridesmaids to pay for our dresses, alterations, and to be present for the rehearsal and wedding,' the woman explained in the Reddit post, shared to the Am I The A**hole Subreddit. She offered to either pay for makeup OR hair for me (the maid-of-honor) but said the bridesmaids can pay extra to have those done the day of the event,' she explained. The woman added that the other bridesmaids have expressed concern about escalating costs, which she also shares. However, when she spoke with the bride, she suggested that it would be easiest for the bridesmaids to understand the total costs they're expected to incur for the wedding, including dress, alterations, bridal shower, bachelorette, and any incidentals. 'I argued (politely) that we need to have an idea of what's expected of us, and it's not on us to create/manage the budget for her wedding,' she explained. 'I asked for a clear spreadsheet of our expected expenses so I can speak with the bridesmaids and make a plan,' she shared. 'Is it normal for bridesmaids to not know what's expected of them? I don't know much about weddings or being MOH and want her to have an amazing wedding without breaking the bank for the other ladies,' the woman shared, adding: 'I'm never saying yes to MOH again.' After speaking with the bride, the bridal party was given an estimate of $1,000 each. 'This is much higher than the initial $100 on a dress and alterations,' she pointed out. Reddit users agreed that the bridesmaids shouldn't be wildly out of pocket to cover someone else's wedding.

Teresa Giudice has on-air MELTDOWN when quizzed about tax bill nightmare in excruciating interview

Teresa Giudice had an on-air meltdown when she was quizzed on her tax woes during a painfully awkward interview on Friday, The Real Housewives star, 52, who along with husband Luis Ruelas was hit with millions in tax liens this year, hung up after she was asked why she 'didn't pay her taxes for years' in an incendiary moment. The interview on Chicago 's WGN News began pleasantly enough as the star was asked if she would be appearing in The Real Housewives of] New Jersey reboot, to which she responded: 'I hope. I'm the OG, yes. So we'll see what happens. You'll have to ask Bravo for that.' However, her smile soon faded as host Larry Potash quipped: 'How is it that a family doesn't pay their taxes for years?' Giudice - who served 11 months in prison for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud in 2015 - asked who he was referring to, and when Potash responded 'your family' her reaction was swift. A visibly raging Giudice then said: 'Okay, I'm done now' before fumbling to hang up her phone. In March it was revealed that reality star Giudice and Ruelas, 49, had over $3 million in New Jersey state tax liens placed on them. Tax liens are a legal claim made on a person's assets if they fail or refuse to fully pay their taxes. If they fail to pay the amount of the judgment, the government would be able to seize their assets. According to the New Jersey Courts website, Teresa owes $303,889.20 in unpaid taxes in a judgement that was entered on March 20. Luis owes several times that amount, after a judgment saying he owes $2,569,842.06 was entered on March 6. That amount is on top of an earlier lien issued on December 12, 2024, for $163,523.94 in unpaid taxes. Teresa's former husband Joe Giudice was jailed for 41 months after he plead guilty in 2014 to 41 counts of bank, mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud. He also admitted to not filing a tax return from 2004 through 2008. However, her smile soon faded as host Larry Potash quipped: 'How is it that a family doesn't pay their taxes for years?' Giudice - who served 11 months in prison for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud in 2015 - asked who he was referring to, and when Potash responded 'your family' her reaction was swift She hung up as the baffled hosts laughed Following his sentence, Joe was forced to move to Italy ahead of deportation hearings. Teresa was ultimately sentenced to 15 months in federal prison.
