Couple renovating their £175k Victorian home made VERY eerie discovery that made them 'jump'

Daily Mail24-05-2025

A couple renovating their Victorian home were left shocked after making a very eerie discovery.
Millie Molloy, 24, and Brad Worth, 23, from Plymouth, bought what they thought was an ordinary two-bedroom property for £175,000 in July 2023.
But what they didn't bargain on was finding old bones, teeth and even old clothes hidden around their new house.
While renovating their 175-year-old house the pair discovered a pigeon carcass wrapped in muslin, a hammer, some teeth and even a woman's high heel, which left the pair on edge.
But their fears were soon allayed after a local historian revealed the real reason for the peculiar items.
Speaking to Metro, Millie revealed a historian had told them that the the animal bones were specifically placed in the wall to ward off evil spirits while the hammer had accidentally been left behind be previous owners.
The shoe found inside the wall of their new house had also been placed there by a previous couple as a good luck charm to increase fertility.
While the pair were glad to get rid of some of their odd finds, they decided to keep the woman's shoe because they hope to have children of their own one day.
One exciting surprises included a postcard from 1952 which led them to the discovery that their modest new home had once been a butchers more than 100 years ago
Other exciting surprises included a postcard from 1952 which led them to the discovery that their modest new home had once been a butchers more than 100 years ago.
Another odd find was a vintage packet of Magic Stars with a price tag of just 31p compared to the £1.65 the sweet treats now sell for.
Millie and Brad are spending £30,000 to £40,000 renovating their new home and are making a point of including the historic elements in their design - although they are avoiding keeping the surprises left by previous residents.
Instead they are making the Victorian features the centre point of the decoration.
Millie revealed they both fell in love with the history of their house and said: 'We fell in love with Victorian elements.
'Now we are creating a mixture of soft modern and Victorian elements.'
And this isn't the first time new home owners have found some horrifying objects.
A young woman who bought a new house with her fiancé was shocked to discover human bones in the walls - following the revelation a murderer lived next door.
The couple are hoping to have finished off the renovations by the summer and crossing their fingers there are no more eerier finds
Emmie Brookman, 28, invested in the three-bedroom property alongside 34-year-old Norton Johnston and had to renovate it after finding pink mould.
The couple hand-chiselled off the exterior wall render themselves, having been quoted £17k by professionals, but were surprised when they found a bone.
Co-owner of a homeware business, Emmie Brookman, from Barrowford, Lancashire, said: 'We were taking the render off and when I was by the front something popped out of the wall.
'It was very obviously a bone. I was really creeped out. What do you do when you find a bone in the wall?
'We found about four more in the exterior. At first we thought we were going to find a full body.'
Ms Brookman had bought the 1580s home in February 2023 for £311k after falling in love with its 'character and quirkiness'.
The couple originally though it just needed some 'new carpets and paint' but then discovered it needed a lot more work.
They found four bones in total in the exterior - and a further two inside - with Ms Brookman believing one is a human finger bone and rest are from animals.

England football star Kieran Trippier and his wife 'to divorce' - after he broke his silence on their marriage split

English ace Kieran Tripper and wife Charlotte are divorcing, according to reports. The Newcastle United right-back revealed earlier this week that he split from his wife Charlotte more than a year ago. But a source said that the pair are definitely committed to making the separation permanent, the Sun has now reported. Trippier, 34, married Charlotte in Cyprus in 2016 and the couple have three children togther, Jacob, and two daughters, Esme and Isla. The source said: 'Charlotte has been open with her friends about getting a divorce. She has been seeking legal advice and is keen to move on with her life. 'Kieran is a devoted dad but as a partner it hasn't worked out as Charlotte had hoped. 'She has moved house and started anew, so getting a divorce has been the next logical step. Charlotte wants to keep things as amicable as possible with Kieran.' The 34-year-old football star said on Wednesday in a statement on Instagram stories: 'I feel I have no choice but to confirm publicly that myself and Charlotte separated over a year ago. 'Myself and Charlotte separated over a year ago. I have not commented previously as it is a private matter and we want to protect our children.' Kieran and Charlotte married in 2016 and sources say that they were keen to keep their split a secret so their kids would not have to deal with any upset. However, it has been reported that Charlotte has a new property where she lives without Kieran. Rumours of their split began during last year's Euros in Germany when Charlotte unfollowed her husband on Instagram on the end of the England's final group game. She also did not jet to Germany like other WAGs. She then posted a cryptic message on social media, saying: 'Sooner or later you get over the s*** you swore you'd never get over and it's the best feeling in the world.' Further posts included the caption 'the sun is shining, happy Monday', where Charlotte was seen sitting in the car listening to music while she waited to pick up her children from school. Meanwhile, the footballer, 34, was reportedly seen mingling in Ibiza with another woman this week. The Newcastle United player was spotted partying with Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry and her pals including Love Island star Jess Harding at Ushuaia club on the White Isle. The sportsman announced his retirement from international football in August last year - with MailOnline revealing how he wanted to to focus on life outside the game following his marriage breakdown. MailOnline has approached representatives of Kieran Trippier for comment, and also Charlotte Trippier.

Grede asked Meghan on her Aspire podcast: 'If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything you would do differently?' Meghan replies: 'Yes. I would ask people to tell the truth.'

Zak Starkey teams up with Paul McCartney and John Lennon's sons as they work on 'The Beatles kids' after he was sacked from The Who again

Zak Starkey has teamed up with Paul McCartney and John Lennon 's sons as they work on 'The Beatles kids' after he was sacked from The Who again. The son of Ringo Starr, 59, was fired from the band last month, just one month after he was sacked then quickly reinstated. He has now revealed that he is working on new music with Sean Lennon and James McCartney and they have collaborated on a song. Speaking in a new interview, Zak admitted that the idea was something he had avoided for fears of being 'judged forever.' He told The Sun: 'I thought it was a daft idea. But I've got to know James well over the last decade and Sean over the last five years and we have become great friends. 'Their music is great. I had a track called Rip Off and as we were communicating a lot I asked them to contribute.' Zak added: 'We were nervous in case there was no chemistry but there was loads and it sounded great. James' voice powerful it nearly blew me off my seat.' Sean, 48, is the second child of the late icon John, while James, 47, is Paul's only son and youngest child, who he welcomed with his late ex-wife Linda Eastman. In May, The Who guitarist Pete Townshend took to Instagram to announce that Zak, drummer since 1996, was no longer part of the band. But Zak quickly took to his own social media to claim that his departure was not a mutual decision and that he was fired from the band. His sacking comes just months ahead of the legendary bands farewell tour across North America and Pete revealed Scott Devours will replace him on drums. The statement from Pete read: 'After many years of great work on drums from Zak the time has come for a change. A poignant time. Zak has lots of new projects in hand and I wish him the best.' In a second post, Pete and Roger Daltrey added: 'The Who are heading for retirement, whereas Zak is 20yrs younger and has a great future with his new band and other exciting projects. 'He needs to devote all his energy into making it all a success. We both wish him all the luck in the world.' They continued: 'Scott Devours – Who fans will know him from Roger's solo shows – will be replacing Zak. We hope all our fans will welcome him. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey'. Resharing The Who's post, Zak hit back: 'I was fired two weeks after reinstatement and asked to make a statement saying I had quit the who to pursue my other musical endeavours this would be a lie. 'I love the who and would never had quit. So I didn't make the statement ….quitting The Who would also have let down the countless amazing people who stood up for me (thank you all a million times over and more) thru the weeks of mayhem of me going 'in an out an in an out an in an out like a bleedin squeezebox x. 'To clarify "other projects" yes I do have other projects and always have. The Who have been sporadic or minimalist in touring most years apart from a two extensive tours in 2000 and 2006/7.' Zak continued to list his other previous projects before adding: 'Releasing singles but not touring cos members are so busy. None of this has ever interfered with The Who and was never a problem for them. 'The lie is or would have been that I quit The Who- I didn't. I love the who and everyone in it.' Zak again took to his Instagram account to share that his version of events had been contradicted yet again after a phone call with The Who singer-guitarist Roger. Zak said Roger told him he hadn't actually been fired and instead 'retired to work on his own projects'. Resharing The Who's post, Zak hit back: 'I was fired and asked to make a statement saying I had quit the who to pursue my other musical endeavours this would be a lie' He wrote: 'NOISE&CONFUSION!!!! I had a great phone chat with Roger at the end of last week which truly confused both of us!!! 'Rog said I hadn't been 'fired'…I had been 'retired' to work n my own projects. I explained to Rog that I have just spent nearly 8 weeks at my studio in Jamaica completing these projects, that my group Mantra Of The Cosmos was releasing one single at the beginning of June and after that had run its course ( usually 5/6 weeks ) I was completely available for the foreseeable future…. 'Rog said "Oh!" and we kind of left it there- On good terms and great friends as we have always been. 'Gotta love these guys. As my mum used to say "The mind boggles!!!" XXX.' It comes weeks after The Who .
