While thanking Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for proposing the Centre establish an Aviation University near Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers Association (APATA) has appealed to Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu to consider opening of Udan Yatri Cafes at airports in the State.
The Aviation University would facilitate teaching aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and simulator pilot and crew training infra to prospective technicians and pilots. APATA president K. Kumar Raja, vice presidents O. Naresh Kumar and D. S. They also appealed to the Civil Aviation Minister to consider opening of Udan Yatri Cafes at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Tirupati airports, on the lines of the one opened at Chennai Airport, considering the needs of budget passengers. These budget cafes offer a range of affordable and delicious meal options, starting at just ₹20, they added.
They also welcomed the launch of Visakhapatnam–Abu Dhabi–Visakhapatnam flights from Friday (June 13) and the Visakhapatnam–Bhubaneswar–Visakhapatnam flights, which were launched on June 12. They noted that these new flights would further improve connectivity from Vizag.

Kashmir tourism likely to rebound to pre-Pahalgam levels by year's end: Minister

Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, speaking on Thursday (June 19, 2025), said that there were signs that tourism to Kashmir, which saw a dip after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, would likely return to normal by the year's end. 'The way tourism has recovered in J&K over the last 1.5 months, we will be able to achieve pre-Pahalgam status by December,' Mr. Shekhawat said. Appealing to people to join the Amarnath Yatra, starting from July 3, Mr. Shekhawat said, 'Kashmir is safe, and tourists should visit the valley. I appeal to the 140-crore people of India to try and see Kashmir's heritage and its historical grandeur and divinity, along with its natural beauty.' In a post on X, the Union Minister said he visited the majestic Martand Temple, 'which is a profound reflection of the glory of Kashmir's civilisational past'. 'Built by the legendary King Lalitaditya, this grand temple dedicated to Surya was one of the earliest and most magnificent sun temples in India,' Mr. Shekhawat said. 'If it looks this awe-inspiring in its weathered form, one can imagine its grandeur of yore given the temple's scale, sculptural richness, and strategic location atop a plateau overlooking the valley,' he added. Cultural glory About the Avanti Swami temple in the Awantipora area of the Pulwama district, the Union Minister said he had an enchanted morning at the temple complex. 'These stones that are remains of the mighty temples once built by King Avantivarman in what was once his capital tell tales of the cultural glory of that era,' he added. The Union Minister also met J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. An official said the duo 'discussed strategic measures for strengthening the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir.' The one-on-one meeting focused on a broad range of initiatives aimed at boosting tourism infrastructure, promoting heritage and cultural sites, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities, the official said. Both the leaders underscored the significance of tourism as a key driver of economic growth and cultural exchange in the region. Mr. Abdullah, the spokesman, expressed appreciation for the Centre's continued support and reiterated the Government of Jammu and Kashmir's resolve to revive and reimagine the tourism sector to unlock its full potential for inclusive development.

What a toll pass means for your drive on national highways

The Centre will roll out an ' Annual Toll Pass ' (ATP) for private car owners that will let you drive through toll plazas without having to stop and pay - either by cash or through FASTag - on national highways and expressways that are managed by NHAI (National Highways Authority of India). The pass does not replace FASTag but is a parallel system in which you make a one-time payment and accounting is done on the basis of trips you make, not the balance on your card. Only private cars will be eligible for ATPs, not taxis or any other commercial vehicle. When can you get an ATP? NHAI will start issuing ATPs from August 15. An ATP can be bought for ₹3,000 and will be for a year from the date of purchase. Within this period, an ATP holder will be eligible for 200 trips on the NHAI network. Once the trip limit is breached, you can renew an ATP for a year. Alternatively, you can pay through FASTag. Buying an ATP won't be mandatory to drive on the NHAI network. Those who want to keep using FASTag can continue to do so. How does ATP define a trip? Crossing one toll plaza will count as one trip on an ATP. Say you're driving from Delhi to Chandigarh or Delhi to Jaipur on NHs. Every time you cross a toll plaza, it counts as a trip. So, if you've crossed four toll plazas, your trip count on the ATP is four. This is how ATP will work on an open tolling system, which is any highway other than access-controlled highways that have a closed tolling system, which means you pay only at point of exit, the journey will count as one trip. For example, on roads such as Delhi-Mumbai Expressway , Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway or Eastern Peripheral Expressway, if you're travelling end to end, it's counted as one trip. However, if you exit midway and re-enter the road at another point, the trip count will increase to two. Do you save if you have an ATP? If you are a frequent inter-state traveller, an ATP will be cheaper. For example, you now pay a total toll of around ₹325 to travel one-way between Delhi and Chandigarh on NH-44, at four toll plazas.
