Alice In Chains pull Connecticut gig due to drummer Sean Kinney's 'non-life-threatening medical emergency'

Perth Now09-05-2025

Alice In Chains pulled the plug on their concert at the last minute after drummer Sean Kinney suffered a "non-life-threatening medical emergency".
The Seattle rockers were due to play Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut on Thursday night (08.05.25), but were forced to cancel the gig to prioritise the stickman's health.
A social media statement read: 'After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency.
'We unfortunately have to cancel tonight's show. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.'
At the time of writing, the Grunge legends' concerts on Saturday (10.05.25) and Sunday (11.05.25) in New Jersey and Ohio, respectively, are assumed to still be going ahead.
Meanwhile, the 'Man in the Box' group are due to head over the pond to play Black Sabbath's final concert at Birmingham's Villa Park on July 5.
This week, it was claimed that Aerosmith's Steven Tyler is planning to make an appearance at the 'Back To The Beginning' charity show.
The 'Sweet Emotion' rockers officially retired from touring last August after frontman Steven suffered a fractured larynx, but he has performed a handful of charity shows since, including his sixth annual Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party at Los Angeles' Hollywood Palladium in February.
And it's now been claimed that the 77-year-old singer will be part of the star-studded lineup at Ozzy Osbourne and co's mammoth all-dayer.
A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: 'Steven's injury was so bad and it has been a long road to recovery.
'He still loves performing live and has sung at a couple of charity events after they cancelled the tour.
'Playing at Ozzy's Back To The Beginning show was an offer he couldn't turn down and he will be on the line-up this summer.
'They are hoping Aerosmith guitarist] Joe Perry might be joining him too, but the final details are still being ironed out.'
The 'Back To The Beginning' show marks the first time frontman Ozzy has reunited with his bandmates Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward in 20 years.
Ozzy has struggled with health issues including Parkinson's disease over the last few years, but he is planning to play a short solo set before joining the rest of the group for a Sabbath spectacular.
The singer has admitted he won't be putting on an energetic show and will likely spend most of the gig sitting down, but he's trying his best to be as fit as possible for the big day.
He told the Guardian: "I do weights, bike riding, I've got a guy living at my house who's working with me. It's tough – I've been laid up for such a long time. I've been lying on my back doing nothing and the first thing to go is your strength.
'It's like starting all over again. I've got a vocal coach coming round four days a week to keep my voice going."
Ozzy's wife Sharon previously insisted the singer's voice is as good as ever despite all of his health problems.
She told The Sun newspaper: "He's very happy to be coming back and very emotional about this [planned gig].
"Parkinson's is a progressive disease. It's not something you can stabilise. It affects different parts of the body and it's affected his legs. But his voice is as good as it's ever been."
The lineup also includes Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb of God, and Mastodon.

Steven Spielberg was ‘deeply involved' in Jurassic World: Rebirth, says writer David Koepp

Jurassic World: Rebirth writer David Koepp has said Steven Spielberg was 'deeply involved' in making the movie. The 78-year-old director helmed the original 1993 film Jurassic Park, its 1997 sequel The Lost Work: Jurassic Park and has served as an executive producer on the Jurassic World series ever since, and Koepp - who wrote the first movie and its follow-up - revealed one of the main reasons he returned for Jurassic World: Rebirth was because Spielberg was 'very involved' in it. Speaking to Deadline about Spielberg, the 62-year-old scribe said: 'Oh, he was very involved. 'That was one of the reasons I most wanted to do it. Because Steven was deeply involved from the beginning, and for the six months that we were working on the script, it was really just him and me. 'I'd send him my ideas, and we'd work on them, and when you have Steven's full attention, the results can be pretty spectacular.' Jurassic World: Rebirth - which stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali - follows a team of covert operatives on a mission to stop a rogue biotech organisation from unleashing weaponised dinosaurs around the world. As the chaos escalates, the team uncovers a dark secret connected to the original Jurassic legacy. Koepp previously said Jurassic World: Rebirth - which was directed by Gareth Edwards and releases on 2 July 2025 - would capture the 'spirit of the first movie'. He told TheWrap: '[We were trying to evoke] the spirit of the first movie, which is the tone that we would like to get closest to.' The writer added it was 'the idea of starting afresh' which convinced him to return to the Jurassic series. He said: 'You don't often get that chance, where they give you very few guidelines, except there must be dinosaurs in it.' Even so, before he agreed to come back for Jurassic World: Rebirth, Koepp had a list of demands he gave to Universal Pictures that the studio had to meet. He explained: 'Number one was – the events of the previous six movies cannot be denied or contradicted, because I hate a retcon. '[Number two was] all science must be real. [Third was] humour is oxygen.' Reflecting on returning to the Jurassic series, Koepp said it was 'weird and trippy' for him to step back in time for Jurassic World: Rebirth. He explained: 'It even smelled the same. It felt low pressure, even though Universal might be horrified to hear that.' Looking back at Jurassic Park and The Lost World, Koepp said 'writing those first two movies were some of [his] favourite experiences in [his] career so far'. He added: 'The combination of grand adventure and real science is right up my alley. And it was fun to be able to decide on a new tone, because every three movies seems like a good time to change tone and characters in a franchise. 'It was great to be able to work solely with Steven and make up a story and think of all new characters and all in a different tone.'

Yungblud put 'every single molecule of energy and emotion' into his new album Idols

Yungblud put "every single molecule of energy and emotion" into his new album Idols. The Fleabag rocker has shared the first of two albums in the series and told fans this is only "halfway through the story" that he encourages them to "immerse" themselves in and share with those they love. Upon the first side's release, Yungblud penned on Instagram: "I've gone back and forth so many times on what I should say in this post that always holds such unprecedented pressure but, ultimately, as I look inside at the end of a crazy 4 year expedition, everything I have wanted say to lies within this music. "I have put every single molecule of energy and emotion into this uncompromising adventure." He continued: "All I can hope for is that you close your eyes and alone, with your friends, or family, immerse yourself in this journey from start to finish. "I set out to create a story that would write itself along side you, travel with you throughout time and give you something you can pass on to the people you love in the same way that I am to you tonight. "What is most beautiful about this is normally, at this point, the album campaign seems finished - I give it to the world and I let it go but this time we're only halfway through the story." Yungblud started writing Idols four years ago after his album Weird! topped the charts but he admitted the people around him tried to get him to work on something else in order to capitalise on his commercial success, but he refused. He told The Sun newspaper: 'I was dissuaded from doing Idols after Weird! because Weird! was so commercially successful. 'I went and worked with a load of songwriters — and when you do that, you've got seven people a week telling you what Yungblud should do next. I had to figure that out for myself. 'I didn't want to make vapid songs that sound great on the radio. Yeah, we've got a couple of f***** radio bangers on this record, but I wanted to make one album that's a through line — classic and timeless. "There's no gimmicks, man. None. This is me leaving everything on the table, showing the world what I can do. "That's why I orchestrated everything. I did everything I could to make it as deep and five-dimensional — lyrically and musically — as I possibly could.' 'I've been all over the world and spent a lot of time in America, but for this album I needed to come home."

'Clone me': Ozzy Osbourne selling his DNA in empty iced tea cans for a mouth-watering £335

Ozzy Osbourne is selling empty cans containing his DNA for £335 ($450) - so fans can "try to clone" the music legend. The Prince of Darkness has teamed up with Liquid Death, whose tagline is "murder your thirst", on the bizarre product, dubbed Infinite Ozzy. The 10 empty cans Ozzy drank from - and has signed - were re-sealed with the rocker's DNA sealed inside. Liquid Death's PR team said: 'Once technology and federal law permit, fans can use this DNA to try to clone Ozzy in the future and enjoy him for hundreds of years to come." Ozzy - who will bow out with one last performance at Black Sabbath's Back To The Beginning charity concert at Birmingham's Villa Park on July 5 - quipped: 'Clone me, you bastards.' The 76-year-old Paranoid hitmaker previously starred in an ad for Liquid Death's Death Dust electrolyte drink mix. He joked in the clip: "Whatever you do, don't try freebasing it and never ever inject it. And don't even think about boofing it, you little perverts." From overdoses to biting the head off a bat to jumping out of a hotel window, and his Parkinson's and spinal injuries, Ozzy has defied death countless times over the years. Ozzy's preparation for the show includes rigorous training. Speaking on his Ozzy Speaks podcast on SiriusXM recently, he said: 'I have got this trainer guy who helps people get back to normal. It's hard going, but he's convinced that he can pull it off for me. 'I am having my blood pressure taken 15 times a day. I've got this f***ing device on my finger. It's a monitor to say how my heart rate is.' Ozzy also admitted he is still uncertain whether he will perform standing up or seated, following multiple spinal surgeries related to a 2003 quad bike accident at his Buckinghamshire home. A fall in 2019 displaced metal rods inserted into his back from the crash, which he said caused more complications than Parkinson's itself. Ozzy was diagnosed with a mild form of Parkinson's in 2003 and delayed going public with his news until 2020. Back To The Beginning will feature performances from the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Mastodon, and many more.
