Aldi brings out garden ornament to help transform your space into an exotic paradise

The Sun22-04-2025

ALDI shoppers are rushing to bag a bargain garden buy that could give your outdoor space a glow-up for just £9.99.
The budget supermarket has dropped its Solar Marrakesh Lantern, promising to bring an exotic touch your garden this summer.
Landing in stores this Thursday, April 24, the stunning lantern comes in a choice of copper or gold.
The lantern is also solar powered so you won't need to worry about changing the batteries or charging it up
With cut-out detailing that throws out eye-catching shadows as the sun sets, it's set to be a must-have summer essential.
At just £9.99, it's the cheapest of its kind on the high street.
Rival stores including The Range and Robert Dyas are selling similar Marrakesh lanterns for £13.99 and £14.99.
Even Amazon, which offers Prime delivery, lists comparable models for £13.
But Aldi's version is only available in stores, so shoppers will need to head down to their local branch to grab one.
It's worth calling ahead, as stock is expected to fly off shelves.
It's also worth checking rival supermarkets and comparing prices to make sure you're getting the best value for money.
The lantern, which includes a white LED light, is part of Aldi's new Specialbuys garden range launching this week.
Aldi's Kitchen Revolution: Affordable Innovation
The range has already caused a stir online, with shoppers praising the supermarket for bringing back viral favourites including the Rattan Effect Corner Sofa, priced at £199.99, and the Marrakesh Bistro Set, available for £69.99.
As the warmer weather arrives, Aldi is helping customers prep their gardens without breaking the bank.
Other new additions include the Decorative Glass Table, £14.99, XL Outdoor Rug, £7.99, and Olive Planters, starting from £4.99.
For lighting up those summer nights, the Solar Water Fountain at £49.99 and the stylish Fire Bowl Globe, £59.99, are also back in stock.
And for those looking for a bigger glow-up, there's the Solar XL Penzance Lantern at £19.99 and the Solar Star Lantern, £7.99.
But it's the Solar Marrakesh Lantern that's grabbing the spotlight this week, adding an exotic ambience to garden tables or hanging spaces for less than a tenner.
As always with Aldi's Specialbuys, once they're gone, they're gone, so you'll have to act fast if you're hoping to snap one up.
How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that'll check prices for you - so don't be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some that we recommend:
Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
How to save money at Aldi
If you're heading in store to snap up some garden bargains, we've also got some money-saving tips to reduce your shopping bill at the discount supermarket.
Firstly, you're going to want to keep an eye out for yellow stickers
Like other supermarkets, Aldi adds coloured stickers to products that are damaged or misshapen, or coming to the end of their best before date.
But, unlike other supermarkets, it uses red stickers instead of the typical yellow.
When reductions are made on products varies from branch to branch, but red stickers usually appear on items at the end of the day.
It's also worth opting for Aldi's own-brand products rather than branded ones and they're often much cheaper.
Aldi offers cheap fruit and veg as part of its Everyday Essentials range. for example, including discounted wonky bundles.
The trick, known as "downshifting", applies in other supermarkets too and can save you hundreds of pounds a year.
Keep an eye out for Aldi's Too Good to Go bags of fresh food too. They cost £3.30 and come with £10 worth of food inside.
You can pick them up in stores but there are only a limited amount each day. Find out more here.

Inside Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos's blended family... including his VERY private children

After a two-year long engagement, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are due to tie the knot next week - and when they do, their families will officially become blended. The Amazon founder, who's net worth is $215 billio n, welcomed four children with his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, whom he married in 1993. The couple met while they working for the same investment management firm, D. E. Shaw & Co, and tied to knot a year before Bezos launched Amazon. They were together for 25 years before parting ways after his romance to Lauren was exposed, and they finalized their divorce in 2019. There is little known about Jeff and MacKenzie's four kids - three biological sons and a daughter they adopted from China - with all of them keeping a quiet profile despite their father's fame and fortune. Lauren, 55, on the other hand, welcomed a son, named Nikko Gonzalez, with footballer Tony Gonzalez in 2002 before splitting. She then walked down the aisle with Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell in 2005, and together, they had a son, named Evan Whitesell, in 2006 and a daughter, named Eleanor Whitesell, in 2008. They were together for more than a decade up until her affair with Jeff was brought to light in early 2019. With Lauren and Jeff's extravagant wedding plans in Venice, Italy, just days away, FEMAIL rounded up everything we know about their kids. Jeff and MacKenzie's eldest son Preston makes rare appearances with his father Jeff and MacKenzie's first child, a boy named Preston, was born in 2000. His name is a family moniker, with his father, grandfather and great grandfather having the middle name Preston. While Preston is rarely seen, he was snapped attending the Academy Awards with his dad in 2020. He was also spotted at the 2019 American Portrait Gala Preston reportedly attended Princeton University, as did both of his parents. He was also rumored to have completed a humanities and engineering degree from MIT, after Jeff was spotted at MIT's commencement ceremony in 2022. Jeff and MacKenzie share three other children together but they have shied away from the public eye The former also share two younger biological sons and an adopted daughter from China. However, the children's identifies are shrouded in mystery, with only Preston's name known to the public. The kids are rarely seen out or with their famous parental figures. One of the only times the Bezos bunch have been seen with their dad was almost 10 years ago at the Star Trek Beyond film premiere at Comic-Con International in San Diego in July 2016. Lauren has three children from previous relationships and her eldest son is a budding model Lauren's eldest son Nikko graduated from college in 2024 and is now a budding model. Her other kids Evan and Ella have opted to stay out of the spotlight so very little is known about them. In January 2023, Lauren spoke out about how she and her billionaire beau have blended their families, with her joking that she felt like they were the 'Brady Bunch' sometimes. 'On a typical Saturday, we hang out, we have dinner with the kids, which is always fun because you never know where the conversation is going to go with this many kids,' she told the Wall Street Journal. She also dished on co-parenting with her exes, specifically Tony, whom she branded as her 'best friend.' 'It wasn't always that way. There was friction [at the beginning]. But Tony and [his wife October "Tobie" Gonzalez] were at Thanksgiving with us [this year], and we're really good friends,' she explained. 'That took about five years, but we always communicated. I'm not saying that being best friends with your ex is the end-all be-all - but you do need to be able to communicate. 'I'm so proud of it. My son looks at me, and he's like, "I'm the luckiest boy in the world because I can have Thanksgiving with both my parents, and they don't have to be married."' She did not touch on her relationship with Patrick. What to expect from Lauren and Jeff's wedding The guest list is thought to have less than 200 people, with suspected guests including A-listers like Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom and even members of the Trump family. The Amazon boss has booked the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, one of the largest and grandest buildings in the historical center of Venice, as part of the multi-day-long extravaganza of celebrations. According to an insider, Jeff's $500 million superyacht, Koru, will be moored off the coast of San Georgio Maggiore island, which is home to the famous Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, a 16th century Benedictine church. They shared that the island is 'off-limits to visitors' from June 24 to June 29, with the mayor believing that the wedding will take place on the yacht - although The Misericodria, an iconic event space in Venice, has been booked out from June 26 to June 28. It's unclear if the space is related to their wedding, but the insider added that a private tender service is said to be taking guests from the island to the yacht. Separate sources recently told the Daily Mail that the festivities are expected to cost anywhere from $15 to $20 million.

Aldi declares war on Trader Joe's after stocking shelves with popular, sold-out item

Aldi is stepping up its battle with Trader Joe's by releasing a snack that is eerily similar to one its competitor can't keep on the shelves. Aldi, the fastest growing supermarket in the US, recently introduced a Kimbap to its frozen foods aisle. Trader Joe's has their own version of the Korean sushi but it has been so popular fans have reported not being able to find it anywhere. Aldi's new fully-cooked Kimbap comes in two flavors, Traditional and Tuna Mayo The Traditional option is labelled as 'Korean-style imitation crab, egg, carrots, spinach, and pickled daikon in a seaweed rice roll.' While the Tuna Mayo is described on the packaging as 'Tuna mayo & perilla leaf in a seaweed rice roll.' The discounted supermarket previously stocked a similar Kimbap in Spicy Tuna With Gochujang, Kimchi & Tofu, Spicy Salmon and BBQ Beef Bulgogi flavors. All the flavors comes as a hand roll divided into eight conveniently bite-sized pieces and cost $3.49 each. The new Kimbap treats appear to be going down well with Aldi shoppers. 'I grabbed both the other day while I was on my break, I liked the tofu kimchi more but the spicy tuna was good also!' one fan wrote on Reddit. 'Highly recommend if anyone finds them in their stores.' 'I went back to get more, and was grateful to see folks had snapped up the spicy tuna and left the tofu ones behind,' another added. However, the new snacks are proving so popular Aldi may soon run in to the same issue as Trader Joe's as one customer claims they can no longer locate them. 'I can only find these at Trader Joe's and not my local Aldi,' they wrote. Aldi is continuing to expand across the US with plans to add another 800 stores to its existing 2,4000 in the next four years. Although the retailer has been in the US since 1976, only recently did it begin scooping up a larger share of the market. The retailer was recently named the fastest-growing grocer in the US for the fifth year in a row by real estate firm JLL, and in terms of store count it's the third largest. 'No one else is putting up 100 stores a year in the grocery space,' said Michael Infranco, assistant vice president at RetailStat. 'That's impressive. And they've been doing that for a number of years now.' Aldi's business model revolves around small stores, packed with a limited assortment of well-curated but mostly private label goods.
