Aventura Mall voted "Best Mall in America," USA TODAY poll
The people have spoken and America's best mall is right here in South Florida.
Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise? Nope. The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale? Not quite.
It's the Aventura Mall, which has been voted the Best Mall in America in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards.
The publication points out that Aventura Mall, the largest mall in Florida, has more than 300 retail shops, experiences, and dining options. It also boasts a "museum-worthy art collection and regularly hosts community events such as story time, weekly yoga, and a farmers market." The mall is so popular, Brightline has added a station nearby.
"We take great pride in Aventura Mall's continued position as the best mall for iconic brands and first-to-market experiences, helping define South Florida's place on the national and international stage," Jackie Soffer, chairman and CEO of Turnberry, owner of Aventura Mall, said.
"Strategically located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Aventura Mall draws a diverse, global audience ranging from international tourists to Gen Z and Millennial locals and tourists," according to USA Today.
Nominees were selected by a panel of experts and then ranked based on votes from the public, according to USA Today. Aventura Mall was one of only 20 malls selected nationwide, and the only South Florida mall to be nominated.
So who rounded out the top 5? Let's take a look.
Coming in at number two was the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. It noted that with 500-plus stores and dozens of restaurants, visitors can find just about everything at this mall.
"As the largest mall in the U.S., the Mall of America is not only a shopping and entertainment complex, but one of the top tourist destinations in the country. Every year, 32 million people visit this mall's stores, restaurants, attractions, and hotels. At the center of the mall is Nickelodeon Universe, the largest indoor theme park in America," according to USA TODAY.
A mall in the Lone Star state came in at number 3 - Galleria Dallas. Along with a variety of retail stores and more than 30 casual and sit-down restaurants, it also boasts its own indoor ice rink.
"The large indoor ice rink is at the center of this three-story mall, and while it stays open year-round, it's especially festive during the holiday season," according to USA TODAY.
An urban oasis in the heart of Manhattan, New York landed in the number four position.
The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards "occupies a million square feet of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space, and features a unique indoor-outdoor setup that makes the most of its Hudson River views."
Rounding out the top 5 is the King of Prussia Mall inn Prussia, Pennsylvania.
It features 450 retail locations and dining options range that from pizza joints and dim sum to steakhouses.
"This mall offers a diverse range of national brands and specialty stores, and those seeking luxury goods can shop at a vast number of luxury retailers like Gucci, Cartier, Dior, and Balenciaga," USA TODAY said.
Rounding out the remaining five are the Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Arizona; American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey; Grapevine Mills in Grapevine, Texas; Tysons Corner Center in Tysons, Virginia and Brookfield Place in New York City.

There's no love lost between Margaret Cho and Ellen DeGeneres. During an appearance on "The Kelly Mantle Show," the comedian, 56, alleged that the former "Ellen DeGeneres Show" host was "really weird and not nice" to her for "most" of her career. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for DeGeneres for comment. The topic came up when Mantle asked Cho to share her thoughts on a series of comedians. After DeGeneres was named, Cho took a long pause before responding that the "Finding Nemo" star, who is "somebody that I've known for such a long time," is "mean." London-based Lidia Mera (@lidiavmera) told TikTok viewers that it was the time of day where she needed her "current hyper fixation" snack now that she's in her third trimester. "It's a little bit... I wouldn't say weird, but let's just say interesting," Mera said in her clip. The 24-year-old then prepares a bowl of chocolate hazelnut cereal complete with milk and ice cubes and an unexpectedly generous splash of soy sauce. Mera told Newsweek that her pregnancy craving is a sweet and salty snack that "somehow" works perfectly. "The perfect fusion between refreshing ice cold milk, chocolate filled crunchy cereal for the sweetness and then finishing it off with soy sauce to add that salty element into it—the perfect combo," she said. As someone who's always had a sweet tooth, Mera explained that she's started to also crave salty foods since becoming pregnant. "I tried to find a way to incorporate that salty element into a snack I regularly have: a bowl of cereal, and soy sauce just sounded like the perfect solution," she told Newsweek. "The ice cubes came in to make the milk even colder because when you're pregnant anything ice cold is just immediately 10 times better." Mera's clip has been viewed over 228,000 times and asked TikTok users to "rate" her pregnancy craving in the comments. "Sweet and salty is a foolproof combo so I'm not entirely surprised that this works but damn that soy sauce came out of nowhere," one user wrote. "I have soy sauce on basically everything so I get it," another user added. "Soy sauce and milk? Hell nah," a third wrote. Dr. Shyamala Vishnumohan, an accredited practicing dietitian with a special interest in fertility and pregnancy nutrition, told Newsweek that there's a reason behind pregnancy cravings. "I've seen women crave everything from raw mango with salt to tamarind, amla or even green chilli," she said. "From a scientific standpoint, they're partly driven by hormonal shifts and partly by nutrient needs." Vishnumohan also pointed to research that shows up to 90 percent of women experience cravings during pregnancy, with most occurring during the first and second trimesters. "I also believe pregnant mothers carry this intuitive body wisdom—gently nudging them toward what they need," she said. "It's a beautiful mystery." As for other cravings, Mera said she's been all about "red meat, fries, ice cream—and even better when you pair it or dip it in soy sauce." The expectant mom told Newsweek her pregnancy craving elicited a mix of opinions. "Some people saying it's absolutely horrifying and some people agreeing that this could actually be a good combo, but not sure if anyone is actually keen enough to give it a go," she said.
