‘Ente Keralam' expo to begin in Kollam on May 11
'Ente Keralam', an exhibition and trade fair being organised in connection with the fourth-anniversary celebrations of the State government will begin here on May 11. Asramam Maidan will be the venue for the expo, showcasing the development, welfare, and service initiatives implemented by the governments in the district over the past nine years.
Along with informative and entertaining sights, different cultural programmes and a food court serving a wide range of delicacies will be part of the event. Admission is free for the expo that will conclude on May 17.
The expo will be held in an area of 79,000 sq ft, including a 55,000 sq ft air-conditioned pavilion, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The welfare schemes and free services of the government will be showcased in 156 theme stalls. In 96 commercial stalls, there will be product displays and sales at fair prices from various departments and government agencies.
The main attractions include the Information and Public Relations department's exhibition showcasing the achievements of Kerala, an agricultural exhibition and trade fair, cultural and artistic programmes, a food festival, a book fair, sports, entertainment and knowledge-based programmes, a caravan tourism exhibition, a Startup Mission exhibition, science and technology exhibitions, a sports exhibition, a police dog show, a mini-theatre show, an exhibition introducing modern technologies, the sports and recreation sector, live competitions, quizzes, other activity corners, and selfie points.
While various departments will provide government services free of charge, seminars, art performances and career orientation programmes will also be part of Ente Keralam. Various programmes aimed at raising awareness against substance abuse will also be held.
Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal will inaugurate the event and Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, J. Chinchurani, will preside over the function. Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar will deliver the keynote address while District Collector N. Devidas, Members of Parliament N. K. Premachandran, Kodikunnil Suresh, and K. C. Venugopal, and Members of the Legislative Assembly M. Mukesh, M. Noushad, Sujith Vijayan Pillai, G. S. Jayalal, Kovoor Kunjumon, P. S. Supal, P. C. Vishnunath, and C. R. Mahesh will also attend.

Six day training camp held for students to excel in art forms
Status: cleared Chennai: A six-day special residential training camp, Kalaisirpi, was conducted for students who excelled in several art forms such as sculpting, drawing, Bharatanatyam, folk, and rural dance in the state. As part of the School Education Department's curriculum, art contests and festivals are held for govt school students of Classes VI-XII at the block, district, and state levels. Those excelling in these contests are honoured with the Kalai Arasan and Kalai Arasi awards by the Chief Minister. In 2024-25, the festivals were extended to students of Classes 1-5 in all govt and govt-aided schools. Music school students to get Class X and XII-equivalent pass certificates
The School Education Department has issued orders to give Class X and XII-equivalent pass certificates to music school students. 'Students studying in district government music schools will be issued pass certificates equivalent to Classes X and XII if they pass the language courses conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations,' the Government Order (G.O.) said. School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi had announced this provision in the Legislative Assembly earlier this year. The order stated that the move aimed to ensure that students of music schools can access higher education and employment opportunities without any hindrance, and to discourage them from dropping out. It added that if they pass the Class XII Tamil (Part-I) and English language (Part-II) papers, they could continue their musical education or pursue higher education and employment with a Class XII-equivalent pass certificate.

Who Was Vibhu Raghave? Born in Khurja, Uttar Pradesh, Vibhu's father, Thakur Ravinder Kumar Singh Raghave, was a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), whereas his mother is a homemaker. After his early education, Vibhu moved to the United States to pursue formal training in acting. At the New York Film Academy, he honed his skills to make a successful career in the entertainment world. Upon completing his studies, Vibhu returned to India to pursue a career in television and bagged some shows. His breakthrough role came in the popular TV show Nisha Aur Uske Cousins, which starred Aneri Vajani in the lead role. His portrayal of Saurav, a loyal and kind-hearted man, in the youth-centric drama resonated deeply with audiences. He also appeared in shows like Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year and Rhythm.
