Brython Thunder came out on top of a 10-try thriller against Glasgow Warriors to finish their Celtic Challenge campaign on a high.Glasgow travelled to Parc y Scarlets looking to avenge last weekend's 33-17 defeat to the Llanelli side. But it was the hosts who flew out of the blocks with early scores from Eleanor Hing and Hannah Bluck.Nicole Flynn hit back for Glasgow before Thunder wrapped up the bonus-point with tries from Gabby Healan and Hannah Lane.Poppy Fletcher crossed on the stroke of half-time to reduce the deficit.Catrin Jones and Orla Proctor exchanged tries after the break before Lane ran in her second to round off the afternoon's scoring.Back-to-back victories sees Thunder rise up the table to finish fourth overall, while Glasgow finish bottom.Wolfhounds were crowned champions on Saturday with a 102-0 victory over Edinburgh.
The game was played in perfect conditions in the Llanelli sunshine and Hing, who once again impressed on the wing for Thunder this season, needed only four minutes to find her way over the whitewash.Thunder's leading try-scorer Bluck cut back inside to score her fifth of the campaign shortly after, with Hanna Marshall adding the extras.Glasgow then began to get a foothold with Flynn wriggling out of the tackle to cross, with her midfield partner Briar McNamara on target from the tee.Ellie Tromans then came agonisingly close to a score showing good footballing skills in the chip and chase, with the try eventually coming for Thunder full-back Lane.Glasgow responded with a try for Norval in the corner before a superb solo effort saw Healan run in a try from her own half, with a show and go sending the defender the wrong way. With the clock in the red, Glasgow kept hammering away at the Thunder try-line and it was a great pick up from loose-head prop Fletcher before crashing over.
With just seven points separating the sides at the break, the first score in the second half was going to be pivotal and it was Thunder who took their chance.Jones, who was back in the side after recovering from injury, showed good hands to juggle the ball before finding a gap in the corner.Proctor then scored Glasgow's best try with the wing fending off some weak tackling in a dash to the line, while Lane also showed good pace to run in Thunder's final score.Brython Thunder head coach Ashley Beck told BBC Sport Wales: "From where we have come from the start of this competition and playing the Irish teams in the middle, to get back to back wins with such a young group, just shows you how much these girls have come on."We had a couple of tough results against the Irish teams, for the girls to still to be turning up for training, they're not paid professionals, it's not their job. So for them to turn up it's about what they want and how they want to get better."Captain Jess Rogers said:"It's been like a rollercoaster for us this whole Celtic Challenge and we wanted to go out there and put a show on and I feel like we did that."

George Turner relishing return to Scotland fold as milestone appearance looms

The 32-year-old was Gregor Townsend's first-choice hooker before he effectively ruled himself out of contention for the national team when he left Glasgow to join Kobe Steelers last summer. After securing a move to Harlequins for the upcoming campaign, however, Turner has been recalled for the summer tour of the Pacific Islands and is relishing the chance to add to his 45 caps. The countdown is on — next up: Māori All Blacks 🔥#AsOne | #SkyscannerPacificTour | @Skyscanner — Scottish Rugby (@Scotlandteam) June 23, 2025 'I've wanted to hit 50 caps for a while and I'm nearly there, so I think that's a good driving force,' he said after returning to the fold for the first time since the 2024 Six Nations. 'I'm getting older but I'm still young enough to have a few more years left.' Turner, who was previously a mainstay of Townsend's front-row, admitted it was tough watching Scotland from afar, but he always felt there was a possibility he could return. 'Yeah, there was obviously a bit of the FOMO (fear of missing out), seeing the boys getting warmed up and playing those games. I obviously watched, and it was nice to almost be a fan, but it was tough watching sometimes. 'Before going out to Japan, there was always a possibility of coming back. I didn't really plan much ahead apart from just getting out there, I kind of knew it would only be a year. I had to do it, I felt like I had a really good time, and then towards the last few months I made the plans about coming back, so I'm excited and happy to be back in here.' Reflecting on his year in Japan, Turner said: 'It was really cool. It was really good for my family, they had a great time, they integrated well, they didn't want to leave in the end, I felt bad. 'It was a really cool year for us and for rugby as well, it was cool to experience that kind of bit more fast-paced, loose, crazy rugby.'

Ollie Chessum warns Lions against complacency on Australia tour

Andy Farrell's men face Western Force in Perth on Saturday in the first fixture Down Under following their send off against Argentina at the Aviva Stadium. Argentina celebrated a maiden victory over the Lions in eight attempts after emerging 28-24 winners and Chessum knows all opponents will be eager to claim a special scalp. Roll on Saturday 🦁 Game two, and our first on Australian soil: @westernforce in Perth 📍#Lions2025 — British & Irish Lions (@lionsofficial) June 23, 2025 'For people playing against the Lions, this is potentially a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,' said the England forward, who is on course to make his debut for the tourists this weekend. 'I'm sure that for the Western Force lads and all the teams we face in the future, to be part of a team that beats the Lions would be massive. 'We expect that from everyone we face, but we also expect to put the best of ourselves out there. 'If I get the opportunity, I'm like everyone in the camp – chomping at the bit to put on the shirt and play for the Lions.' Enemies have become friends in Perth as Chessum revealed he has been rooming with Joe McCarthy, the Ireland second row he has battled since they were teenagers. 'I'm with big Joe, so it's two young locks have been paired together. They're big beds and there's a nice bit of space in the room,' Chessum said. 'It's a bit surreal. We played against each other when I was with England county schoolboys, so not even the academy pathway. Joe was playing for the Irish equivalent. 'We played against each other at Donnybrook, which we drove past when we had our stint together in Dublin last week. 'To be rooming together on a Lions tour six or seven years after we were playing against each other at Donnybrook is cool.'
