Retroid just announced a dual-screen device, but not the one you expect

Nick Fernandez / Android Authority
TL;DR Retroid just announced a Dual Screen add-on for its popular retro gaming handhelds.
This can make emulation for Nintendo DS, 3DS, and even Wii U games more immersive.
The company has not announced pricing or availability yet.
Retro gaming handheld maker Retroid spent most of this week teasing a dual-screen device, which was finally revealed this morning. Rather than a new device to its growing lineup, it's an accessory that can attach to some of its most popular handhelds.
The aptly named Dual Screen add-on has a large screen with a clip on the bottom. When attached to a gaming handheld, it creates a clamshell form factor similar to the LG V60 or Microsoft Surface Duo. Retroid hasn't shared much beyond the picture above, but a representative confirmed on Discord that it's an OLED panel.
It's compatible with several of Retroid's flagship handhelds, including the Retroid Pocket 5, Pocket Mini, and Pocket 4 Pro. However, it's not compatible with either of the most recent releases, the Pocket Flip 2 or Classic. That's not too surprising, given the form factors of those devices.
Adding a second screen looks a little goofy, but it makes emulation for Nintendo DS, 3DS, and even Wii U games more immersive. Popular DS and 3DS emulators already support gameplay on two screens, although Wii U support is still lacking.
A second screen is a game-changer for Nintendo DS and 3DS emulation.
This is far from the first device of its kind. The aforementioned LG V60 had an optional second screen, but the ROG TwinView Dock accessories for the first three ROG Phones were very similar, with a platform and clamp to hold the phone. A YouTuber named DNA Mobile Gaming also recently ran an Indiegogo campaign for the DNA Duo, another similar device with a very high price tag.
Retroid has yet to announce pricing or availability for the Dual Screen add-on, so stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

Michael Jackson's fixation on cosmetic surgery ‘sparked by childhood humiliation at hands of his dad'

Michael Jackson's fixation on cosmetic surgery and appearance was sparked by childhood humiliation at the hands of his father, a new book claims. The singer, who was killed by a drugs overdose aged 50 in 2009, was renowned for his addiction to changing his appearance, and Michael's former lawyer John Mason has now stated in his memoir it was down to abuse of the star by his domineering dad Joe Jackson. John, who is now in his 80s, says in his book Crazy Lucky: Remarkable Stories from Inside the World of Celebrity Icons in an extract obtained by Michael told him his father 'told me I had a big nose' early in his life. The ex-attorney added: 'That was just the beginning of Michael's obsession with his looks.' John worked with the Jackson family during their transition from Motown to Epic Records in the 1970s and goes into detail in his book about the emotional and psychological toll inflicted on the young Michael. He said: 'In 1964, Michael, who was six years old and driven to sing and dance, went to work. Michael would remember years later that his father didn't praise his singing ability after that first performance or his magical moves.' That early criticism, John writes, 'planted the seeds for future plastic surgery adventures in the name of finding true 'beauty'.' Despite Michael's public insistence he had only undergone two nose surgeries, his continually changing appearance fuelled long-standing speculation over the extent of his cosmetic procedures. John described his time with the family as strained and uncomfortable, particularly due to Joe Jackson's harsh methods. 'Back in the day, Joe made all the calls,' he said – adding: 'He would sit at rehearsals with a belt in his hand in case he had to punish any mistakes or misbehaviour.' He added: 'There was never a fun moment. Joe's way of approaching people was to be intimidating. He would shake your hand and try to crush it.' Michael's death was caused by acute propofol intoxication combined with sedatives and ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles County coroner's office. His personal physician Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for providing the singer with the hospital-strength tranquiliser, which Michael called his 'milk' as he said it was the only thing that helped him sleep.

JoJo Siwa cancels Pride concert

JoJo Siwa has pulled the pin on her appearance at a Pride festival in Chicago. Siwa was scheduled to take the stage on 29 June at Back Lot Bash, a music festival set to coincide with Chicago's Pride weekend. The Dance Moms alum has yet to address disappointed fans herself, although the show's organisers blamed a "scheduling conflict" on her no-show. The Pride cancellation comes after the former child star admitted last week that she felt pressured by past partners and the LGBTQ+ community to define herself as a lesbian. "When I came out at 17, I said, 'I'm pansexual,' because I don't care," she told the Daily Mail. "But then I kind of boxed myself in and I said, 'I'm a lesbian.' And I think I did that because of pressure. "Where did that pressure come from? In a weird way, I think it came a little bit from inside the community at times. From people I know, from partners I've had." Siwa is now in a blossoming relationship with her Celebrity Big Brother UK cast-mate Chris Hughes. Hughes, a British TV personality who found fame on Love Island, is the first man she's publicly dated since coming out in 2021. This cancellation follows the postponement of Siwa's US tour dates. JoJo announced that news on her tour website last week. "I've got some news that breaks my heart to share. My US tour has to be postponed. I promise I'll be back before you know it to perform for all the beautiful people in the US."

I tried for a long time to come up with a word using all new letters, but at last I got frustrated and just guessed GLADE. Much to my surprise and delight, that was the Wordle! Huzzah! Today's Wordle Bot Another tie. We've had a lot of those lately. With no points for beating one another, the Bot and I get 1 a piece, leaving us with June totals of: Erik: 16 points Wordle Bot: 10 points The word "thrum" dates back to the Middle English period (14th century), originally referring to loose ends or threads, especially the leftover warp threads on a loom. It likely comes from the Old English þruma, meaning "edge" or "fringe," possibly related to þrumian, meaning "to murmur" or "hum" — which later influenced the modern sense of a low, continuous sound (like a thrum of engines or fingers on strings).
