iOS 26 Will Radically Reshape the Look and Feel of Apple CarPlay. Learn All the New Free Features Coming Soon
Originally called "iOS in the Car," Apple's CarPlay has come a long way in the last decade. It now supports iPhone connections for more than 800 different models of cars and motorcycles. It's also about to go through a massive redesign with a bevy of new features.
Apple is updating the CarPlay experience with the newly revealed iOS 26. Apple announced the changes during its annual WWDC event in Cupertino, California, on June 9.
Apple's iPhone-compatible automobile operating system is used more than 600 million times per day, according to the tech giant. The entire CarPlay system is getting a refresh, including icons in light and dark modes, widgets to give you "quick and glanceable ways to get information" while you're on the move and live activities like flight statuses.

"We've also added new features to help keep you connected while driving, like a compact design when you get a call, so you can still see what's on the screen, like your upcoming directions, along with tap backs and pinned conversations in messages," Apple's Emily Schubert said during the WWDC keynote.
There are also now vehicle controls in Apple CarPlay, including radio and climate controls.

Footage from Apple during the keynote also showed you can send emoji reactions to messages while on the go, without navigating away from your driving directions. You can also see things like calendar reminders and smart home controls in widgets on the side of the display.
Apple launched CarPlay Ultra last month, bringing more customized features for automakers to include.
"It provides information for all of the driver's screens, including real-time content and gauges in the instrument cluster, while reflecting the automaker's look and feel and offering drivers a customizable experience," Apple said in a blog post in May.
All the new CarPlay features coming in iOS 26
Here's a roundup of the major new features that will be added to CarPlay with the launch of iOS 26.
Liquid Glass design
Just like an iPhone with iOS 26, CarPlay will get the same translucent design overhaul Apple is calling Liquid Glass, with buttons that add a feel of depth. CarPlay icons may not have the same moving effect as on your iPhone, but they'll have the same shiny, glass-like appearance.
Compact view
One of the most welcome new features of CarPlay with iOS 26 is a new view that doesn't interrupt your navigation when phone calls arrive. Instead of taking over the whole screen, incoming calls will now appear in a smaller windows at the bottom, so you'll be able to see turn-by-turn directions.

New features in Messages
Messages on CarPlay with iOS 26 will add the ability to respond with tapbacks like thumbs up, thumbs down, a heart or exclamation marks. It will also let you pin messages to the top of the interface.
New incidents to report in Maps
Maps will soon add three new incident types to report in CarPlay. Along with the existing accidents, speed checks and hazards, the iOS 26 update will also include roadwork, road closures and traffic.
Video streaming while parked
The new CarPlay with iOS 26 will let your stream videos to your car's screen from your iPhone using AirPlay. As soon as your car starts moving, the feature should be disabled. Whether or not you'll be able to stream video may depend on your car model.
Live Activities and widgets
New Live Activities in CarPlay will provide real-time information while you drive.

Using CarPlay with iOS 26, the same widgets you have on your iPhone should work in your car. Widgets are currently only availble via Apple's premium version of the service, CarPlay Ultra. You'll also soon be able to see real-time updates and info from Live Activities like flight trackers.
Smart Display Zoom
When this new feature is enabled in CarPlay with iOS 26, the CarPlay interface will be automatically resized to best use the available screen space, no matter its size. For example a smaller screen will reduce the size of the icons so that two rows of app icons can fit properly.

Stellantis Evaluates Maserati's Future, Including Potential Sale -- Reuters
Stellantis (STLA, Financials) is weighing a possible sale of its luxury brand Maserati as part of a broader strategic review, according to a Reuters report citing two unnamed sources familiar with the matter. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 11 Warning Signs with STLA. The discussions reportedly began before newly appointed CEO Antonio Filosa officially takes the helm. Maserati's future is under review as Stellantis navigates a shrinking U.S. market, Chinese competition, and steep tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on foreign-made cars and parts. Despite the internal review, a Stellantis spokesperson told Reuters that Maserati is not for sale. McKinsey declined to comment. Maserati's sales fell by over 50% last year to 11,300 units, with no new models currently scheduled for launch. A new business plan is expected once Filosa begins his tenure. Stellantis' board remains split on the brand's futuresome directors reportedly view Maserati as a reputational asset, while others believe it lacks viability for a sustainable relaunch. Analysts say streamlining Stellantis' 14-brand portfolio could improve profit margins. The company's shares have lost roughly two-thirds of their value since March 2024. Chinese automakers such as Chery could emerge as potential buyers, echoing earlier moves like Geely's acquisition of Volvo or SAIC's purchase of MG. This article first appeared on GuruFocus. How Advisors Can Avoid Becoming Over-Reliant on AI
Apparently there's no AI in team. Artificial intelligence is being hailed as a key element of the fourth industrial revolution, and new tools are now assisting financial advisors with taking notes, drafting emails, and brainstorming thought leadership content. In fact, the vast majority of advisors said generative AI helped their practices, according to a survey earlier this year. But AI isn't a silver bullet. It lacks emotional intelligence and a human touch. Advisors risk damaging client relationships if they become too reliant on automation — even for routine tasks. 'AI is poor at empathy so far,' said Adrian Johnstone, CEO of the CRM platform Practifi. 'Advisors need to recognize where the personal connection is most powerful, and use AI to automate and alleviate the lesser functions.' READ ALSO: What the GENIUS Act Means for Stablecoins and Advisors and Why UBS Is the Only Wirehouse to Allow Podcasting Today, most advisors use AI to boost meeting efficiency and streamline workflows. Ideally, this frees up more time to spend with clients, but misusing these tools can backfire. 'The common refrain of disaffected clients is: 'I pay you to understand me, my goals, and my fears, not to outsource me to a machine,'' Johnstone said. Wealth management is built on bespoke service, but AI hasn't yet learned to fully adapt to individual client needs and goals. While tools that draft emails and website content are improving, the output still reads 'hollow and generic,' Johnstone warned. Use it or Lose it. Client-facing AI tools can be 'extremely risky' because they can't interpret emotional undertones of client's concerns, said Rafael Loureiro, CEO of an estate planning platform. Still, AI can be useful for quick, factual tasks. 'If it's midnight on a Sunday and a client asks, 'What was my marginal tax rate last year?' that's a perfect use case,' Loureiro said. 'It's not doing financial planning, but answering factual questions.' Everything in Moderation. This isn't the first time new tech or strategies meant to disrupt the wealth management industry have wound up causing trouble for advisors and their clients. Will Trout, director at Datos Insights, pointed to the 2008 financial crisis as a warning. 'Firms that over-relied on risk models without human oversight suffered catastrophic losses,' he told Advisor Upside. This post first appeared on The Daily Upside. Hyundai establishes directly-owned distributor in Malaysia
Hyundai Motor Company announced that it has established a new subsidiary in Malaysia, giving the South Korean brand a direct presence in South-east Asia's second-largest market. The new company, Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMM) – headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, will effectively take over as Hyundai's distributor in the country from local conglomerate Sime Darby, while continuing to use the company's dealer network. Sime Darby's automotive division, Sime Darby Motors, has vehicle distribution and dealer operations across the Asia-Pacific region, for brands such as BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce, Ford, Land Rover, Porsche, Suzuki and Mitsubishi. It also has a majority-owned contract assembler, Inokom Corporation, located in Malaysia's Kedah State. Hyundai confirmed that the new company will assume full responsibility in Malaysia for the brand's 'marketing, sales and customer experience, with a dedicated local team empowered to make faster, market-relevant decisions and deliver a more connected, customer-first approach. This is underpinned by deeper market commitment, enhanced customer engagement and a renewed focus on innovation and long-term growth.' HMM will allow Hyundai to 'actively expand its dedicated Malaysian team, laying the foundation for a robust nationwide dealer network.' The new company is expected to employ around 100 people by the end of the year. Jeffrey Gan, managing director of Sime Darby Motors, said in a statement: "We are proud to have played a pivotal role in Hyundai's growth in Malaysia. As Hyundai embarks on its next phase, we remain committed to supporting its sales and aftersales operations, ensuring continuity, confidence, and a seamless service experience for existing and future Hyundai customers.' Hyundai's vehicles are currently assembled locally by Inokom, at its facility in Kedah State. The South Korean automaker is currently building a new MYR 2.2 billion (US$ 520 million) vehicle production plant in Kedah in collaboration with Inokom, which is expected to become operational in the third quarter of 2025. Hyundai confirmed that it plans to launch three new SUV and MPV models in Malaysia in the near future. "Hyundai establishes directly-owned distributor in Malaysia" was originally created and published by Just Auto, a GlobalData owned brand.
