Qatar regrets deterioration of situation with bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities

DOHA: The State of Qatar has expressed its regret over the deterioration of the situation following the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities, noting that it is following with great concern the developments following the recent attacks on the sisterly Islamic Republic of Iran, which targeted its nuclear facilities. In this context, it stressed the need to halt all military operations and immediately return to dialogue and diplomatic tracks to resolve outstanding issues.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that the current dangerous tensions in the region will lead to disastrous repercussions at the regional and international levels. It hopes that all parties will exercise wisdom and restraint at this time, and avoid an escalation that the peoples of the region, burdened by conflicts and their tragic humanitarian consequences, cannot tolerate.
The Ministry also affirmed the State of Qatar's full support for all regional and international efforts aimed at settling disputes and defusing crises through peaceful means to consolidate peace and stability in the region.

WASHINGTON: The United States struck three sites in Iran early Sunday, inserting itself into Israel's war aimed at destroying the country's nuclear program in a risky gambit to weaken a longtime foe despite fears of a wider regional conflict. Addressing the nation from the White House, President Donald Trump asserted that Iran's key nuclear sites were 'completely and fully obliterated.' There was no independent damage assessment. It was not clear whether the US would continue attacking Iran alongside its ally Israel, which has been engaged in a nine-day war with Iran. Trump acted without congressional authorization, and he warned that there would be additional strikes if Tehran retaliated against US forces. TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that his country reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people in accordance with the UN Charter. "The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran's peaceful nuclear installations," Araghchi said on X. "In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defence, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people," he added. The Iranian Foreign Minister's post comes following US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.
