One Of The Best Netflix Shows Ever Made Returns Today For A Wild New Season

One of the very best Netflix shows returns today with ten new episodes, or rather ten new shorts each telling its very own, very peculiar story.
Love, Death + Robots features some of the best, most unique animation of any TV series out there. The sci-fi series has given us everything from mutant super-soldiers to all-out war between a farmer and an army of rats. Space exploration, time travel, talking cats and inquisitive robots all make up the various stories of the first three season.
This new season is comprised of ten episodes, all of which drop today, spanning T-Rex gladiators, household appliances in a search for work-life balance, and aliens, demons, Nazi demons and lots more. Including, yes, more talking cats. It's like an obsession at this point. This show may as well be called Love, Death + Cats.
The animation varies wildly from one episode to the next, with different teams of animators and writers working on each (very short) short. Some are adaptations of science-fiction stories. One even has live-action featuring the always hilarious Rhys Darby (pictured above).
In Season 4, expect more off-the-wall storytelling, a bunch of celebrities lending their voices – and sometimes faces – to the characters, and even some musical performances.
Love, Death + Robots is created by Tim Miller and executive produced by David Fincher, who also directs the first Season 4 episode, 'Can't Stop', which features the band Red Hot Chili Peppers.
'Our hope is that people begin to understand that this is a boundary-less sandbox,' said Fincher. 'You know, we want to be able to play. We just want to be able to surprise people and show them stuff that hopefully scares them, or gives them the giggles: eye candy worth 11 minutes or six minutes of their time.'
The show isn't just bringing in popular 90s bands. It's taking a crack at the younger audience by giving YouTuber MrBeast a major role in one of the episodes. Other stars include John Oliver, Amy Sedaris, Kevin Hart and more.

Can't Stop
Synopsis: A unique take on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' legendary 2003 performance at Slane Castle, Ireland, with band members Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante recreated as string-puppets. Directed by David Fincher, who originally made his name with music videos in the 1980s and early '90s, before segueing into unforgettable feature films.

These all sound pretty great, and I'm excited to dive headfirst into the new season this weekend. Some of these animation studios, like Titmouse, have produced some of my favorite animated series. Titmouse animates the wonderful Legend Of Vox Machina, for instance, which you can (and should) watch on Prime Video. Blur Studio has worked on all kinds of things, including the 'Heaven and Hell" sequence from South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (which remains one of the greatest musicals of all time).

Ever since Indian star Aamir Khan began talking about his latest Hindi release, Sitaare Zameen Par, there has been a lot of buzz around the sale of digital rights for films. With the film now releasing 'exclusively in theatres', many theatre-owners have lauded the producers. At a time when digital platforms are regularly giving a six to eight weeks' window before the digital release, does such a move mean much for the box office? Let us explore with some industry experts. Sitaare Zameen Par: An exclusive theatrical release Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is a Hindi film loosely inspired by the 2018 Spanish film Champions. The Spanish film was based on the real-life story of story American basketball coach Ron Jones. The story of Sitaare Zameen Par revolves around a suspended basketball coach (Khan) who needs to complete community service and coach a team of players with disabilities as they prepare for a tournament. Genelia D'Souza plays Khan's onscreen wife in the film which also stars Brijendra Kala and Dolly Ahulwalia. Ram Sampath has composed music for the film which has lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Sitaare Zameen Par is said to be a spiritual sequel to Khan's 2007 surprise hit Taare Zameen Par. Aamir Khan Productions reportedly rejected offers from Netflix and Prime Video. The reports claimed that Khan wanted an eight-week window before the digital release while the OTT platforms wanted a shorter window. After it became clear that the film has not been sold to any OTT platform yet and Khan plans to give it an 'exclusive theatrical release', the Multiplex Association of India issued a note 'applauding' Aamir Khan's decision on the same. For an audience willing to wait for a few weeks instead of stepping out for the cinemas, will it matter if they need to wait for six weeks or eight or ten? Unless the gap is as big as a year or so, it may not affect these decisions. Such moves are not very likely to affect the box office or the overall business of theatre. Aamir Khan Productions' move to go for an 'exclusive theatrical release' without even selling the digital rights, nonetheless, means a giant leap of faith for the film exhibition industry. After nearly five years (since the pandemic outbreak in 2020), a major producer has shown such faith in cinemas and the power of their film. Film trade analyst and producer Girish Johar believes a good theatrical window is essential for the industry to function progressively. 'Sitaare Zameen Par being exclusively marketed as a theatrical release, I believe the message should go down to the viewers - the option of watching the film within 6-8 weeks on OTT is not there. It remains to be seen whether the audiences will wait or come to the theatres. Right now, going to a theatre is not only an expensive proposition but also time consuming. Only compelling films compensate for the time.' CEO of Cinepolis India Devang Sampat believes Khan's films have always been about theatrical experience. "His decision to back cinemas with Sitaare Zameen Par is a significant moment for all of us. It's not just a film release; it's a message of unwavering belief in theatres. We're incredibly grateful to Aamir Khan Productions for boldly standing by cinemas. Sitaare Zameen Par is exactly the kind of film that brings people to theatres, thoughtful, moving, and made for a collective experience." Multiplex Association of India President Kamal Gianchandani hopes for a strong opening collection of Sitaare Zameen Par. 'The exclusive theatrical release, with no OTT release, allows the film to enjoy an undiluted box office run. We anticipate a significant uplift in footfalls.' The producers of Sitaare Zameen Par reportedly asked theatres to avoid screening the film before 9am on Friday. Single-screen theatres were also asked to screen the film exclusively through the day. Gianchandani insists the decision was mutual (between the producer and theatre-owners) and the strategy will help in building a stronger occupancy and excitement for the opening. Johar believes the film-specific guidelines such as no morning shows may work in favor of the film as the target audience of Sitaare Zameen Par is not the usual school or college going youth. 'The target audience is very urban, metro, you know, skewed towards 35-plus age group, families. I think they've taken a planned decision of not to have early screenings. The experience dilutes if you watch a film in an empty theatre. It is definitely a good strategy to have a curtailed screenings of the film so that the audience gets to enjoy community watching with a good occupancy theatre and react with the group.' He adds that limited release screening will also work in favor of Sitaare Zameen Par because film watching is a community experience. However, he fears that if the film becomes a victim of piracy, it may cut short the box office as the target audience of Sitaare Zameen Par is mainly urban. 'Aamir Khan's decision to release Sitaare Zameen Par exclusively in cinemas is a strong and much-needed endorsement of the theatrical format. For theatre owners, this signals not just increased footfalls but also a boost across the entire value chain — from box office revenue to food and beverage sales, in-cinema advertising, and on-ground brand activations. It's a positive signal to the entire ecosystem — that theatrical exhibition continues to be commercially viable and culturally relevant in today's entertainment landscape," Gianchandani adds. Reports suggest that Aamir Khan plans to release Sitaare Zameen Par after its theatrical run on YouTube - not on any OTT platform - and he plans to do it on a pay-per-view model. It is a model that does not dole out handsome sums outright but accumulates a big figure if the content appeals to the audience. Johar has high hopes: 'I fully am looking forward to this model. To me, it is like a ticket purchase for a personal viewing on your personal screens. Aamir exploring the model for Sitaare Zameen Par may pave the way for its evolution down the line. It may also lead to other producers taking the risk.' Trade experts believe the Aamir Khan film is likely to take an average opening in India with a figure that is expected to stay around $1 million- $2 million worldwide. Expressing hopes for a good film, Johar says the kind of target audience of the film (urban and metro regions in India, 35-plus people) will limit the opening of the film around $1 million. He adds that Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 'is no competition for a film like Sitaare Zameen Par.'

The Netflix movie library is constantly rotating. While the streaming service adds plenty of new flicks each month, it also removes some old favorites to make room. On June 30, 2025, Netflix will remove more than 40 movies from its platform. These cover pretty much all genres, from family-friendly adventures like 'The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water' to jump-scare-landed horror like 'The Nun.' The platform is also removing the complete 'Twilight' saga, so if you want to relive your angst-ridden teen years, you've got only a few days left. 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' is unquestionably one of the most beloved rom-coms of the 21st century. It's not hard to see why, either. 'Dune Part Two' is another sci-fi masterpiece from Denis Villeneuve, and it gives even 'The Lord of the Rings' a run for its money when it comes to epic scale. This sprawling blockbuster combines intergalactic politicking with deeply compelling characters and a hair-raising sense of spectacle. I thought Villeneuve's first 'Dune' movie was a remarkable achievement, but 'Part Two' raises the bar even further. And I've not even touched upon the ludicrously stacked cast, incorporating more than a dozen recognizable A-list names from Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya to Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem. Watch on Netflix until June 30, 2025 With the franchise reboot on the horizon (it's set to arrive in theatres this summer), now is a great time to rewatch, or get familiar with, the '90s original. 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' is an archetypal slasher, the type of horror movie that 'Scream' was lampooning just a year prior, and was thoroughly mocked in the first 'Scary Movie.' Yet while it sticks to all the genre conventions, 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' remains an enjoyably silly popcorn-muncher, and there's enough bloody fun to keep you hooked throughout. The movie centers on a group of friends who accidentally hit a pedestrian following a beach trip to celebrate July 4. They swear a pact to hide the body and never speak of the incident again. However, a year later, one of the group, Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), receives a letter telling her that somebody knows what they did, and the mystery sender wants revenge. Also starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr., it's a pretty cheesy, yet enjoyable watch. Watch on Netflix until June 30, 2025 Netflix is removing the entire original 'Ocean's' trilogy this month, so now is the perfect time for a movie marathon full of gripping heists and larger-than-life characters. Directed by Steven Soderbergh (whose new movie 'Black Bag' is one of the year's best to date), and a remake of the 1960s Rat Pack crowd-pleaser of the same name, it stars a legendary crew of 2000s top-tier talent including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Jula Roberts and Casey Affleck. Clooney plays the leader of the group, Danny Ocean, a career criminal who uses his charms to rob those he believes deserve their comeuppance. Alongside partner in crime Rusty (Pitt), he brings together a sophisticated group of thieves to pull off a seriously audacious heist. The plan is to rob three of Las Vegas' biggest casinos in one swoop, and the stakes are extra personal because the owner of these gambling establishments happens to be dating Danny's ex-wife, Tess (Roberts). Watch on Netflix until June 30, 2025 'The Equalizer 3' has enjoyed a fruitful run on Netflix, holding the No. 1 spot for several weeks when it first arrived on the streaming service in early 2024. Since then, it's always been in and around the top 10, but all good things must come to an end, and Netflix will soon lose one of Denzel Washington's best action efforts to date. For anybody who (foolishly) doubts it, 'The Equalizer 3' again confirms Washington's status as the coolest man in Hollywood. The second sequel to the 2014 original sees Washington return as Robert McCall, a former Marine and government assassin who now protects the vulnerable in society who are unable to defend themselves. Having moved to southern Italy to escape his past actions, McCall's sun-soaked retirement is short-lived when he's forced back into the field to save his new friends from a local mafia boss, who might be McCall's most ruthless foe yet. But they're faced with their biggest challenge yet when a rival boy band turns out to be a group of demons in disguise. Watch it now on Netflix Anyone counting down the days until "Wicked: For Good" will be excited to learn that one of Disney's most popular movies of all time, "Frozen," is getting the "Hamilton" treatment on Disney Plus. The musical tells the same story as the animated film, only in a live stage format. You'd be forgiven for thinking this is the Broadway version based on the title, but it's actually a taping of the show's West End production at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, which ran from 2021 to 2024. The show features 12 new songs written exclusively for the musical by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who co-wrote the songs for both "Frozen" and "Frozen 2." And of course, there's still all the original earworms from the movie, only this time with "Pretty Woman: The Musical" star Samantha Barks belting out "Let It Go" instead of Idina Menzel. Watch it now on Disney Plus For an offbeat romantic drama with a heavy helping of sci-fi, look no further than Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun's "Love Me." Set in a future where humanity has gone extinct, it follows an unexpected duo: a weather buoy (voiced by Stewart) that becomes self-aware after a brief encounter with a passing satellite (Yeun). Yearning for a sense of self, the buoy calls itself 'Me' and dubs the satellite 'Iam.' Me persuades Iam to study the remnants of the internet with her to better understand what it means to be human. Though Iam doesn't realize it, Me begins to construct new identities for them both based on social media posts from a once-living couple. As their bond evolves into something that resembles love, the cracks in their borrowed identities as well as their growing connection begin to show. Watch it now on Paramount Plus
