A dog has developed the most heartwarming daily habit whenever he catches sight of a yellow school bus outside the family home.
Every day around the same time, Thor watches and waits. He knows exactly what to look out for and, considering he's a dog, has a pretty good idea of when to expect it.
"We brought Thor home in November of 2023," Deanna Rogers told Newsweek. The mom, who lives with her husband and two young sons in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, said that, before Thor, they had a very specific idea in mind for what kind of dog they wanted.
"We specifically wanted a German shepherd because they're known for their loyalty to their family," Rogers said. "Because we live on a very busy main road, we wanted a dog who wouldn't be so willing to run off."
In a busy household that also includes two rescue ponies, a pair of goats and some chickens, Thor plays an important role in keeping the peace and appears to thrive in it.
"He could spend all day outside, just keeping an eye on the farm animals and watching our boys play," Rogers said. "His favorite thing to do is definitely very long walks and car rides! He is insanely smart and protective without coming across as intimidating. When it comes down to it, he's a big baby."
Thor's intelligence shouldn't come as a shock. Stanley Coren, author of The Intelligence of Dogs and professor emeritus at the University of British Columbia's Department of Psychology, ranks the breed among the most intelligent.
"According to my research, the seven dog breeds with the highest working and obedience intelligence, starting with the brightest are: Border collie, poodle, German shepherd, golden retriever, Doberman pinscher, Shetland sheepdog and Labrador retriever," Coren told Newsweek.
However, Thor appears especially smart, if a video posted to Rogers' TikTok, @deannarogers_, is anything to go by. It' is a compilation of the heartwarming daily habit Thor has picked up when Rogers' kids come home from school.
"Thor started really becoming aware of the boys' school routine this year," Rogers said. "In the afternoon, he would start watching out the window around the time he knew they came home, anticipating the big yellow school bus to arrive out front of our house."
One day, Thor opted to take things one step further. "He just decided to go greet the boys at the foot of the bus steps," Rogers said.
Things quickly escalated from there in the sweetest way imaginable. "After that, some of the kids would call his name and he would go right onto the bus, take a lap down the aisle and head off," Rogers said. "It became a regular occurrence."
Thor's antics have made him a firm favorite with everyone at her sons' school. "Not only do our kids love seeing Thor greet them at the bus, all of the other kids and the bus driver love it, too," Rogers said.
Now Thor's adorable escapades have gone viral, with the compilation clip posted to Rogers' TikTok, showing his regular visits to the bus, going viral with more than 23,000 views and counting.
"He loves your son so much!! Good doggy," one viewer wrote, with a second commenting: "Oh my God this is the cutest, dogs deserve the world." A third meanwhile admitted they were "crying on the toilet" watching the footage.
The response has blown Rogers away but, given how much she knows and loves Thor, it is not a surprise to see others feeling the same.
"When I shared the video, I knew people would feel the love that our dog has for our children and it would make people smile," Rogers said. "Dogs are just the best, but our Thor is really up there with the best of the best."
It looks like quite a few New Jersey school kids would agree.

'Toxic Avenger' Reboot Trailer Shows Best Look at Peter Dinklage's Toxie
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The red band trailer for "The Toxic Avenger" reboot is here and it gives us our best look yet at Peter Dinklage as Toxie, the eponymous hero. It also delivers plenty of dark laughs and gore. You can watch the trailer below. Read More: Ryan Reynolds' 'Dragon's Lair' Netflix Movie Recruits 'Muppets' Director The official synopsis for "The Toxic Avenger" reads, "When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze, is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he's transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger." "Now, Toxie must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community. In a world where greed runs rampant... justice is best served radioactive." Toxie in "The Toxic Avenger". Toxie in "The Toxic Avenger". Troma Entertainment Inc. While Dinklage provides the voice for Toxie, Luisa Guerreiro does the body work for the toxic superhero. Speaking about the new Toxie suit, filmmaker Macon Blair said, "The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd's original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature, with some influence from the 'Toxic Crusaders' cartoon's look, while also trying to do something new and weird and lovable with Toxie's design. I love what Millenium FX did with it — part human, part mutant, all heart." Taylour Paige plays JJ Doherty in the film, an investigative journalist who is looking to expose the company Gooze works for and bring them to justice. Jacob Tremblay plays Winston's stepson, Wade. Kevin Bacon plays chemical industrialist Bob Garbinger while Elijah Wood plays his younger brother, Fritz. Macon Blair, who wrote and directed "The Toxic Avenger" reboot, previously collaborated with Wood on his feature directorial debut, 2017's "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore." The reboot has been in the works for over a decade, but thankfully for Troma fans, things have changed since development began. The plan was originally to turn the "Toxic Avenger" reboot into a PG-13 action comedy. Blair has instead stuck to the splatter spirit of the original. "The Toxic Avenger" hits theaters on August 29. The film is written and directed by Macon Blair. "The Toxic Avenger" stars Peter Dinklage, Luisa Guerreiro, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood and Jane Levy. James Gunn Confirms Three 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Actors Appear in 'Superman'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Some directors are known for working with the same actors multiple times, and "Superman" writer/director James Gunn is definitely one of those filmmakers. So it should come as little surprise that at least three "Guardians of the Galaxy" actors make cameos in the upcoming "Superman". Read More: Kevin Smith Is Writing A New 'Daredevil' Story Speaking to Buzzfeed Australia, James Gunn let the proverbial cat out of the bag about the three "Guardians" cameos. "I will give you something that nobody knows, but Pom Klementieff is one of the robots," Gunn revealed. "It's Bradley [Cooper] and then it's also Pom and Michael Rooker is another one of the robots." Chris Pratt as Peter Quill in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3." Chris Pratt as Peter Quill in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3." DISNEY Fans will remember Pom Klementieff plays the antennae-wielding empath Mantis who first appears in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and is ultimately revealed to be Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) half-sister. Michael Rooker plays the Ravager Yondu in the first two films, while Bradley Cooper has been the voice of Rocket Raccoon in all of his "Guardians" and "Avengers" appearances. In case you're confused about what robots Gunn is referring to: the three "Guardians" actors, along with Alan Tudyk, are voicing the Kryptonian robots who stand guard over Superman's Fortress of Solitude. Asked about "Guardians" actors Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldana, Gunn said he was "keeping them in the wings." Technically, we already knew about one "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor appearing in "Superman". Nathan Fillion, who plays Guy Gardner/Green Lantern in the DC blockbuster, appears in both the first and third "Guardians" features. He would have appeared in the second, but his cameo was sadly cut. We already know Fillion's time as Guy Gardner will be longer than anything he did in the "Guardians" franchise. Along with "Superman", he's been confirmed to play Gardner in Season 2 of "Peacemaker" and Season 1 of "Lanterns". The fact that Klementieff, Cooper, and Rooker add their voices to "Superman" doesn't cut them out of future DC Studios appearances, either. In fact, we already know Rooker will appear again. Along with playing Savant in 2021's "The Suicide Squad", Rooker will play the eagle hunter Red St. Wild in the upcoming Season 2 of "Peacemaker". "Superman" releases in theaters on July 11. Tickets are on sale now. The film is written and directed by James Gunn. "Superman" stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. Netflix's new mystery thriller movie looks a mind-twisting ride that'll keep you guessing — watch the first trailer now
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. I wouldn't say I've ever been particularly claustrophobic, but after watching Netflix's first trailer for the German thriller 'Brick,' I can definitely feel the nightmare of confinement setting in. The premise is simple but intriguing: a couple wakes up to find their apartment building completely encased by an impenetrable brick wall that appeared overnight. The plot immediately reminded me of 'The Platform' and '10 Cloverfield Lane,' which are two of my favorite claustrophobic thrillers. So, it's no surprise this one went straight onto my summer watchlist. 'Brick' will land on Netflix on July 10, 2025, and judging by the first trailer, it looks like a mystery thriller viewers will devour (and maybe come to fear enclosed spaces a little more). The trailer opens with Olivia (Ruby O. Fee) telling her partner, Tim (Matthias Schweighöfer), that she's leaving him and not coming back. But as she tries to walk out of the apartment, she's met with a brick wall. Confused, they soon realize their entire building is surrounded by this strange structure. Like anyone would, they start kicking and throwing themselves against it, but it doesn't budge. The water doesn't work, there's no cell reception and even drilling through the brick gets them nowhere. Instead, they manage to break through a plastered wall and find their neighbor on the other side just as panicked as they are. You can feel the tension start to rise as Tim, Olivia, and the rest of the building's residents try to figure out what's happening and how to escape. But as the fear and claustrophobia set in, it's clear the real danger might be what's happening inside, not just outside. The trailer might reveal a bit more than it should, so the movie will need to pull off a truly unexpected twist to keep the story engaging and leave a lasting impact. Along with the trailer and release date, Netflix's synopsis reads: 'Tim and Olivia awake trapped in their apartment behind an impenetrable, futuristic wall which has materialized overnight … and they are not alone. The entire building and its residents seem to be enclosed. 'What happened? Who built that wall and why? Without any chance of outside help, they must band together to find a way out. Can they solve the mystery of the wall in time — and survive?' Nearly four years after starring together in 'Army of Thieves' (the prequel to 'Army of the Dead'), real-life couple Matthias Schweighöfer and Ruby O. Fee reunite for another Netflix project with 'Brick,' this time in a much darker, more suspenseful setting. 'Brick' is directed by Philip Koch and features a strong ensemble cast alongside Fee and Schweighöfer, including Frederick Lau, Salber Lee Williams, Murathan Muslu, Axel Werner, Sira-Anna Faal, and Alexander Beyer. Koch has a real knack for creating tense, atmospheric stories that feel just a little off-kilter in the best way, like he did with 'Tribes of Europa.' With 'Brick,' he seems to be bringing that same energy, turning a simple, contained setting into something eerie and unpredictable. There's a good chance this won't just be a survival thriller, as it looks to explore how people unravel under pressure. Given his background in sci-fi and psychological thrillers, Koch knows how to make familiar spaces feel strange and claustrophobic. If this new movie leans into that, it could end up being something really memorable. This is very much a claustrophobic thriller and one that will probably have you guessing until the very end. The trailer suggests a story that leans heavily into psychological pressure, exploring what happens to people when their world suddenly shrinks and the rules no longer make sense. Plus, it's perfect for anyone who enjoys a good single-location thriller. Visually, though, it actually looks pretty sharp and stylized, and I'm curious to see how it balances dread and mystery in the right way. Thankfully, we don't have long to wait to see the mystery unfold. If you're drawn to stories that thrive on slow-building tension, this one looks like it'll have you hooked from the first minute.
