Aamir Khan breaks silence on being trolled for 'remaking' movies Laal Singh Chaddha and Sitaare Zameen Par: 'Main thoda pagal type ka hu..'
Aamir Khan
's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' was a remake of 'Forest Gump' and now his next film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' was trolled as the trailer felt like the film is a frame to frame copy of the spanish film 'Champions'.
The actor has now broken silence amidst the 'Sitaare Zameen Par' row and for remaking a film again after 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.
Aamir spoke about it on Raj Shamani's podcast and said he has no problems with it. The actor revealed, "Laal Singh (Chaddha) ke baad, mujhe bohot logo ne bola ki aap phir remake bana rahe ho. Laal Singh mein bohot aapko trolling hui thi, ki aapne remake banayi, remake banayi. Lekin kya hai, main thoda pagal type ka aadmi hun, practical cheezein mujhe samajh mein nahi aati."
He added, 'Mujhe koi problem nahi hai remake karne mein. Mujhe nahi lagta hai meri creativity kum ho rahi hai, at all. Kyunki main apne liye toh naya kaam kar raha hun. Kisi aur ne yeh kahani banayi hai, ab main isko apna nazariya de raha hun."
Further giving an example, he said, "Shakespeare ko main dobara kar raha hun, usmein apni jaan main daal raha hun. Toh remakes ka yeh jo discussion hai naa, yeh mujhe bohot fizool lagta hai. Aur isme main believe hi nahi karta hun. Main jab Ghajini kar raha hun, woh toh Tamil mein ban gayi hai naa Ghajini, Murugadoss bana chuka hai Tamil mein Ghajini, ab aap dobara Ghajini kar rahe ho. Nahi, lekin main apni nazar se kar raha hun, aur meri audience ke liye main apni energy usme daal ke aapko dikha raha hun.
Toh mujhe lagta hai mera kaam usse alag hi hai."
'Sitaare Zameen Par' also stars Genelia D'souza and is set to release on June 20.

Sitaare Zameen Par box office Day 1: Aamir's film starts decent, earns Rs 11.5 crore
Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par', touted as the spiritual sequel to his 2007 classic 'Taare Zameen Par', released in theatres on June 20 to largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Despite the favourable buzz, the sports drama had a modest start at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs 11.5 crore on its opening day, according to industry tracker 'Sitaare Zameen Par' couldn't surpass the Day 1 collection of Aamir's previous film, 'Laal Singh Chaddha', which earned Rs 11.7 crore on release day in 2022, despite ultimately underperforming in the long run with a lifetime collection of just Rs 60 crore. Comparatively, 'Taare Zameen Par' had opened to Rs 2 crore on Day 1 back in per Sacnilk, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' registered a 21.43 per cent occupancy in the Hindi belt, with night shows drawing the highest footfall. While the opening numbers may not be record-breaking, the film's strong word-of-mouth, compelling performances, and emotional storytelling could boost its performance over the weekend. Watch the trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par here: India Today rated the film 3.5 stars, praising its heartfelt simplicity and humour. An excerpt from the review reads: 'The beauty of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' lies in the fact that it isn't trying to be anything it's not. There are no hidden metaphors or layered messages to decode. It is what it is - not a flawless portrayal of emotion, but a story with its heart in the right place. And oh, when it makes you laugh, it really makes you laugh. It puts to shame all those so-called comedies built on crass humour and sexist jokes.'Alongside Aamir Khan, the film stars Genelia Deshmukh and marks the debut of ten fresh faces in Hindi cinema. With the weekend ahead, all eyes are on whether 'Sitaare Zameen Par' can turn its promising start into a box office Watch

An award-winning culinary maestro, he is acclaimed for his inventive flair in transforming familiar dishes into extraordinary gastronomic experiences. Fuelled by an unwavering passion for food, Chef Suresh has earned global recognition — featured in The World's 50 Best Discoveries and ranked as the 16th Best Chef by the prestigious Culinary Culture Awards, which celebrate India's finest culinary talent. Now, he brings his dream project, Tuya, to Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills. In a conversation with CE, Chef Suresh shares what Tuya truly represents, his deep-rooted connection to his heritage, and his firm belief that South Indian cuisine deserves a larger spotlight on the global stage. Excerpts Tell us about Tuya. It means 'pure' in Tamil. It was a long-time dream. Like many chefs, right after college, the goal is to open your own restaurant. Unfortunately, that dream doesn't come true for many, but I was passionate. I always wanted to serve pure, authentic food. By authentic, I mean flavour-wise. But in terms of presentation, since I trained in European kitchens for six years, I try to bring those techniques to the food I grew up currently have 102 seats. It's actually pretty massive. Initially, I wanted a small space with a one-page menu. But the market here demanded a bigger menu, so I decided not to take that risk. What kind of food can people expect at Tuya? You'll find familiar local dishes, but reimagined. For instance, we have Sarva Pindi, but made with avocado. Then there's Muntha Masala, instead of the usual mirchi bhajji, we've done it with a Gongura tempura twist. We also serve a Hazelnut Pootharekulu. So the idea is to take favourites and improvise — make them fun, yet rooted.
