
High-speed chase of stolen car in Santa Rosa leads to arrest of teen on probation, sheriff says
A 15-year-old on probation was arrested after a high-speed chase of a stolen vehicle in Santa Rosa Wednesday morning, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said.
The CHP said the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office spotted a stolen vehicle shortly after 10:30 a.m. on E Street in Santa Rosa.
The suspect took off, leading deputies on a chase through the Bennett Valley area at speeds of up to 70 mph, deputies said.
The chase ended with the suspect crashed into a parked car near Bethards Drive and St. Paul Drive, deputies said. The suspect then took off running, but was detained quickly, deputies said.
The suspect was identified as a 15-year-old on juvenile probation. The suspect was booked into juvenile hall on multiple charges.

Pedestrian dies after being struck by three cars in Long Beach
A man died on Saturday after he was struck by at least three cars in Long Beach, according to police. It happened at around 9:30 p.m., at which point officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Falcon Avenue, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, only identified as an adult male, lying in the road. He was declared dead at the scene. "The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown dark colored sedan was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it struck an adult male pedestrian in a marked crosswalk," the release said. "The driver immediately fled the collision." Moment later, a second vehicle described as a 2016 BMW X3, struck the pedestrian who was lying in the roadway after the first impact. The driver "immediately pulled over" police said. They remained to cooperate with the investigation. A third car, also described as a dark colored sedan, then struck the pedestrian before immediately fleeing the scene, police said. "At this time speed and distracted driving are being considered as contributing factors in the collision involving the vehicles which fled the scene," said LBPD's release. Off-duty sheriff's deputy shoots, kills murder suspect in Fontana
An off-duty sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man who was alleged to have slain two people in Fontana on Saturday night, according to authorities. In a statement, the Fontana Police Department said officers responded to the Falcon Ridge Town Center shopping area at about 9:40 p.m. after it was reported that shots were fired. Two people, a 43-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, were shot. An off-duty law enforcement officer witnessed the shooting, police said, and shot the suspect. The suspect, identified only as a 45-year-old man as of Sunday morning, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two victims, who also remain unidentified as of Sunday morning, were pronounced dead at a local hospital. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing. As of Sunday morning, it was not yet clear if the suspect and victims knew each other or what led up to that initial shooting. It's also unclear how the officer-involved shooting occurred, or if the suspect fired shots at the officer first. No additional details were immediately made available. Fontana PD told CBS News Los Angeles that the off-duty officer is a deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. They did not identify them or indicate if they suffered any injuries in the incident.

Modesto driver accused of DUI, hit-and-run in collision that left pedestrian dead, police say
A man is accused of DUI and hit-and-run after a pedestrian was killed in a collision early Sunday morning in Modesto, police said. The collision happened around 1:30 a.m. near Yosemite Boulevard and Severin Avenue. Police said a pedestrian was crossing the road when she was struck by a Toyota traveling west on Yosemite Boulevard. The pedestrian was found unresponsive at the scene and was taken to a hospital, where she later died, police said. Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Eloy Diaz of Modesto. He was located shortly after the collision.
