‘Marvel Rivals' Is Making Ultron a Lean, Mean, Healing Machine

Gizmodo22-05-2025

Marvel Rivals has had a bit of a support problem in its latest season. Amid the glitz and glamor of Emma Frost's arrival and the Hellfire Gala, the hero shooter's sophomore season aimed to try and reign in a meta that had seen the game's cast of strategists—the healing and support heroes in the game's riff on the classic Tank/Healer/DPS triangle—become dominantly powerful, with balance updates that saw support characters face longer cooldowns, smaller health pools, and even a rebalancing of how the game weighted support contributions to end-of-match rewards. That and the general hero-shooter-reputation of support players feeling undervalued by their teams caused a lot of ire (and even calls for a strike), to the point that developer NetEase began reverting some of the tweaks it made.
But while those have somewhat calmed the ire of angsty strategist mains, it seems like they're getting a big bone thrown to them with Rivals' latest addition, Ultron, a strategist who seemingly asks: aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you just want to go apeshit?
Although we've known since the start of the season that Ultron would be Rivals' mid-season addition to the roster, today NetEase lifted the lid on our first proper look at him in action, and it seems like he's going to be a maligned support player's dream. First up, he's pretty aggressive, with both his primary fire looking quite mean and his nature as the first flying strategist hero letting him chase down foolhardy duelists who wanted to try and pick off a support. That flight also gives him a nifty escape option, as we get to see him boost out of and away from being pinned by Wolverine's perpetually annoying leap attack, too.
But all that aggro doesn't mean Rivals players will seemingly have to fear 'DPS Ultrons' who don't balance their damaging abilities with healing output. Ultron will be able to tag allies with a healing drone that provides sustained healing over time in a radius around the tagged teammate, while he keeps attacking, and what looks like a temporary shield buff that grants overhealth to mitigate incoming damage. And if that wasn't enough, his ultimate lets Ultron call in a host of drones to fire a volley of beam blasts that simultaneously heal allies and and harm foes. Sometimes the best way to heal your friends is to obliterate anything that threatens to damage them in the first place!
Time will tell just how Ultron slots into Marvel Rivals' meta, but you can probably to expect to suddenly see a lot more support mains in your lobbies when he arrives alongside the season 2.5 update next week starting May 30.

Steam's store now lets you search for games by accessibility features like 'narrated game menus' and 'adjustable difficulty', and more than 5,000 games have already added their accessibility details to the database

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Back in April, Valve announced the Steam store would start highlighting accessibility features on games' store pages. And now, it has. Not only can you see them in the sidebar beneath the controller support section for selected games, you can also search the store by individual accessibility features. "This update comes after gathering valuable feedback from developers as well as players with disabilities," Valve says in its blog post announcing the news, "and over 5,000 applications have added details about their accessibility support (with more developers updating their games each day)." On Steam's search page you can select "narrow by accessibility feature" to bring up a bunch of toggles like "playable without timed input" and "color alternatives". If you know anyone who has ever bought a puzzle game and had to refund it because the puzzles demand you can tell colors apart but won't let you tweak what those colors are, you'll know why the latter's important. Some accessibility features, like "save anytime" and "adjustable text size" are good for everyone to know in advance—they're just nice things to have. A variety of games, mostly newer ones, have already added accessibility features to their store page. Baldur's Gate 3, for instance, boasts 10 of them, from "adjustable difficulty" to "playable without timed input". Here's a full list of the options, with explanations of exactly what they mean. Gameplay Adjustable Difficulty: Players can adjust gameplay difficulty. Save Anytime: Players can save gameplay using both automatic and manual saves. Saving can be performed at any point in the game. Visual Adjustable Text Size: Players can adjust text size. (In-game text, menu text, character dialog text, subtitle text) Subtitle Options: Players have options to customize the display of subtitles for all spoken content and essential audio information. Color Alternatives: Gameplay doesn't rely on colors to communicate important information, or players have an option to adjust colors used for distinguishing information. Camera Comfort: Players have an option to adjust or disable uncomfortable camera movement such as screen shaking, camera bob, or motion blur, or the game doesn't feature these effects. Audio Custom Volume Controls: Players can adjust the volume of the audio. Different types of audio can be muted independently from each other. Narrated Game Menus: Players can listen to game menus with narrated audio. Stereo Sound: Players can identify how far to the left or right sounds are coming from. Surround Sound: Players can identify how far in any direction sounds are coming from. Input Keyboard Only Option: Players can play the game with just a keyboard and no other additional input mechanisms such as a mouse or controller. Mouse Only Option: Players can play the game with just a mouse and no other additional input mechanisms such as a keyboard or controller. Touch Only Option: Players can play the game with just touch controls and no other additional input mechanisms such as a mouse, keyboard or controller. Playable without Timed Input: Players have an option to adjust gameplay to not require precisely timed button presses ("quick time events") or gameplay does not require such button presses. Text-to-speech: Text chat can be narrated out loud in real time. Speech-to-text communications: Voice chat can be read as a text transcript in real time. Today's Quordle Hints (and Answer) for Sunday, June 22, 2025

If you're looking for the Quordle answer for Sunday, June 22, 2025, read on—I'll share some clues, tips, and strategies, and finally the solution. Beware, there are spoilers below for June 22, Quordle #1245! Keep scrolling if you want some hints (and then the answer) to today's Quordle game. (If you play Wordle, Connections, and Strands, check out our hints for those games, too.) How to play Quordle Quordle lives on the Merriam-Webster website. A new puzzle goes live every day. If you've never played, it's a twist on The New York Times' daily Wordle game, in which you have a limited number of attempts to guess a five-letter mystery word. In Quordle, though, you're simultaneously solving four Wordle-style puzzles, and each of your guesses gets applied to the four puzzles simultaneously. Due to the increased difficulty, Quordle grants you nine guesses (12 if you play on 'Chill' mode, or eight if you play on 'Extreme'), rather than Wordle's six. To start, guess a five-letter word. The letters of the word in each of the four quadrants will turn green if they're correct, yellow if you have the right letter in the wrong place, or gray if the letter isn't in that secret word at all. Ready for the hints? Let's go! Can you give me a hint for today's Quordle? Upper left: To take (control) Upper right: A sensation taking over the nation! Lower left: Relating to Vatican City Lower right: A former brand of Toyota Does today's Quordle have any double or repeated letters? Upper left: No. Upper right: No. Lower left: Yes, one repeated vowel. Lower right: No. What letters do today's Quordle words start with? Upper left: W Upper right: C Lower left: P Lower right: S What letters do today's Quordle words end with? Upper left: T Upper right: E Lower left: L Lower right: N What is the solution to today's Quordle? Upper left: WREST Upper right: CRAZE Lower left: PAPAL Lower right: SCION How I solved today's Quordle I start with SLATE and MOUND, then turn my attention to the upper right. I'll try GRAPE. Close. It could be CRAZE. Yep. The upper left might be TREES. Not quite. I think it has to be WREST. Yes. I think the bottom right might be SONIC. Nope! The O can't be in second position; that was silly. SCION's the only option. One guess left. I'll try APPLY. Dang, it was PAPAL. Oh well. The best starter words for Quordle What should you play for that first guess? We can look to Wordle for some general guidelines. The best starters tend to contain common letters, to increase the chances of getting yellow and green squares to guide your guessing. (And if you get all grays when guessing common letters, that's still excellent information to help you rule out possibilities.) There isn't a single 'best' starting word, but The New York Times's Wordle analysis bot has suggested starting with one of these: CRANE TRACE SLANT CRATE CARTE Meanwhile, an MIT analysis found that you'll eliminate the most possibilities in the first round by starting with one of these: SALET REAST TRACE CRATE SLATE Other good picks might be ARISE or ROUND. Words like ADIEU and AUDIO get more vowels in play, but you could argue that it's better to start with an emphasis on consonants, using a starter like RENTS or CLAMP. Choose your strategy, and see how it plays out.

TV host Zhu Dan apologises for her "bias" towards young male co-stars

23 Jun - TV personality Zhu Dan found herself having to apologise to netizens after sparking a heated online debate over her perceived bias toward males. The whole issue sparked earlier this month, after Zhu Dan, who is on the reality show, "Wonderland", gave two chicken drumsticks from a bowl of chicken soup to actors Winwin and Zhou Yiran while making a comment that "the boys are still growing" in one episode. On the other hand, she handed over the smaller chicken wings to younger actress Ouyang Didi and Chinese star Ning Jing. When Ning Jing questioned the logic behind Zhu Dan's distribution of the pieces of chicken and asked if she loved the boys more, Zhu Dan directly responded, "A little." She also made a comment when Zhou Yiran mentioned that he would prefer to have a daughter instead of a son, saying, "Opposites attract; parents are instinctively biased toward children of the opposite sex... Fathers love daughters more, and mothers love sons more." In response to her statement, netizens took to social media to criticise the way of thinking, saying that such an idea should not be the norm. They also dug up a past interview where Zhu Dan said that she arranged for her six-year-old daughter to be in the same class with her three-year-old son so that the sister could take care of her brother. Many questioned Zhu Dan's parenting style of putting the responsibility of caring for another on her daughter when she is also just a kid. In response to the criticisms coming her way, Zhu Dan recently posted a message on social media, writing, "Over the past few days, I've heard a lot of voices. I'm very sorry that my way of expressing myself has caused significant controversy and made people feel uncomfortable." At the same time, she refuted reports about her kids, saying, "We have never let our daughter repeat a grade. The children received mixed-age education during kindergarten (3-7 years old small, medium and large classes together)." (Photo Source: SINA)
